I spent 3 nights at the Marriott while attending a meeting in downtown SLC. The hotel was fine. The room was unexpectedly large. The bed was comfortable, though the bedding was sparing. Nice bathroom, good wifi (if you're an elite member). The concierge lounge breakfast Mon-Fri was better than the substitute breakfast in the restaurant on the weekend. Very friendly and helpful staff. My main disappointment was that the temperature control on my room didn't seem to be working properly.

I have now stayed at both Marriotts in downtown SLC. This is definitely the nicest of the 2. The rooms are spacious, feel new and are clean. The beds are comfortable. The rooms with even numbers, higher floors have a view of the mountains. The rooms with the odd numbers overlook the city center. A park and amphitheater. On the 9th floor you cannot hear any noise. Lower floors might hear noise. We stayed for 3 nights. I had 2 rooms with King beds. One had a pull out couch. The other had a chai... Read more

This downtown hotel is what one expects from Marriott: large quiet and clean room, attentive staff, on-site parking and attractions within walking distance. There are many restaurants a few minutes walk away.

We stayed here for our honeymoon and they treated us very well. We had a corner suite and that provided for a great view of downtown Salt Lake City. Room service was also great. I would suggest some chocolate covered strawberries when you decide to go.

What a great stay! This hotel was a very pleasant surprise starting from the valet staff opening my door until I was provided accurate directions to the nearest gas station as I left. The cost was very reasonable compared to the other nearby hotels. The location was perfect and only a few minutes drive to the airport. Front desk staff were efficient and friendly. Breakfast buffet offered excellent food at a reasonable price. Hotel rooms were roomy and quiet. I will definitely stay here aga... Read more

Taking a trip across the country and wanted to stay downtown in SLC. This was great...valet parking was convenient, upgraded room was very nice, and it was just a few blocks from Temple Square and many shops and restaurants. Very enjoyable visit.

Two things stand out in my mind here: The view of the mountains, and the location. Salt Lake isn't a very condensed city, but this hotel provides a nice walk to the large mall area, and plenty of dining options. It happened to rain the whole time I was there, but there is a park and tennis court area right behind the hotel that I believe is accessible to guests. The rooms are a decent size, and the staff is amiable. The concierge sat the whole time and only helped when she was asked. I'm guessi... Read more

This is my third visit to the hotel for a meeting I usually attend in June. Great location, nice rooms, good meeting and a very good staff with one very big exception. After eating several meals provided by the meeting I noticed they had shrimp/scallop pasta salad labeled as vegetarian. So then I began to question all the other labels. I asked the staff holding the event to please let them know and also he them ask about the other labels - like the vegetable risotto which was labeled vegetar... Read more

The hotel is easy to access via car or transit. Walking to a wide variety of restaurants is easy as pie. The rooms are quiet and most have good views. The rooms are adequate in size and the beds are very comfortable. The standard room has a decent sized bathroom as well. The shower head offers 3 selections for water to come at ya. There is a starbucks about 3 good city blocks away, an Illy about 3 blocks away and an Harmon grocery store about 2 blocks away (has a salad bar, food to go opti... Read more

If you have any sensitivity to scents, you may want to take your own unscented soap with you if you stay at this hotel (or any of the Marriott hotels). Their toiletries have a strong odor that I found very unpleasant! This hotel IS convenient to the capitol, the shopping mall, and the temple. Rooms are nothing special, but staff is pleasant.

Stayed here one night passing through Salt Lake. Fantastic location right in the middle of the Central Business District. Hotel is exceptionally clean and staff at check in were very helpful and friendly. It is a very luxurious hotel. Nice clean quiet rooms to relax in. Nice workout facility on sight and great place to go for a run. I ran up through the temple area and enjoyed some exercise and sight-seeing at the same time. You have to run a few blocks through some busy streets, but when y... Read more

Very good location next to Gallivan Square, right downtown, and only 1 block from a Trax Station. Friendly staff. Rooms were good size. You can even open the part of the window to get fresh air if you want. Enjoyed staying here.

This hotel is a bit dated but it's a great place to stay. It's centrally located and walkable to much of salt lake... The city center mall, restaurants, movie theater, temple square. The service is great, most especially the bellmen outside. They are very friendly and super helpful in getting around and making recommendations. Highly recommend this hotel when staying in SLC.

Hotel is in downtown SLT, and the trolly runs a block away. Hotel sits next to a city park, and there were two concerts during my 8 day stay. One involved lots of young people and very loud rap music. During the concerts, guests were unable to use doors in the back because they wanted to keep patrons out. I have a few areas for improvement : bar service should be allowed to go outside even if they don't get food; rooms in a nicer hotel like this need microwave and refrigerator; beds are hard and... The hotel is excellent, highly recommended, but ask about outdoor concerts on one side of the hotel. Could be noisy, but end by 10:00. the alcohol laws are weird, so be prepared. The bar is good, but don't expect to take a drink to your room. Many really good restaurants in walking distance. A 20-min drive to the airport.

My wife and I stayed here for one night on our anniversary before flying out of SLC and found the hotel to be perfectly adequate, although not anything extraordinary, for a one night stay. My Marriott gold status provided access to the concierge lounge which had excellent dinner fare on Sunday night including ribs, fresh fruit, soft pretzels, and your standard soft drinks. The hotel is conveniently located near the light rail line which goes directly to the airport as well as other downtown at... Read more

I've been on a difficult track with Marriott's lately and thought at least this one in its home city would be fantastic, but sadly it couldn't be farther from the truth. The room itself was average, but the television had a couple channels that didn't play audio, one of which was my company's and I needed to watch for research. When I called the front desk to resolve, this was not rectified, the response was sort of a "deal with it" type comment. Though on one positive note, hence why it's not t... Read more

The Salt Lake City Marriott on State Street is very conveniently located to Gallivan Plaza, the Capitol, Temple Square, City Creek, and many great restaurants. The hotel staff is incredibly friendly and the lobby and guestrooms are both well appointed. I have stayed here a few times and will continue to stay here on business. My only negative experience (which admittedly the hotel has no control over) is the number of homeless between the Marriott and City Creek.

Salt Lake City Marriott City Center is a beautiful hotel, featuring rooms with sumptuous beds and amenities. Their restaurant and dining accommodations are equally impressive. We tried to eat as many meals there as possible during our stay. Each dish was exquisitely prepared. Nothing like this experience in my life!

Facilities: this hotel has better facilities than Hilton near by, it is pretty much standard Marriott facilities. Staff: overall friendly, but chaotic management. We request dental kits on check in, but never prepared, I hanged the privacy tag on the door, but the house keeping not only keep knocking but also break in to my room, it is so awkward, I was luck that I did put my cloth immediately after shower. Elite member treatment: horrible. As a Marriott Platinum, I should have lounge access a... Read more
