We booked this as we were on a budget and it was close to the city! We didn't check any reviews! Let me just say we now check TripAdvisor reviews for every hotel now. The room stank really bad of the stuff they use to cover up cigarette smoke. The other patrons were long term renters and all seemed to be on crack. The pipes made noise all through the night. The breakfast was ok but we didn't sit in the breakfast room due to the other patrons. We made a mistake booking this and if we'd stayed e... Read more

asking for a no smoking room and getting one to sleep in is another story at E cono Lodge, North Temple. I checked in on 6th to find a room heavily disguised as a non smoking room. Even the mattress smelled like smoke, rug definitely. Curtain was soaked in the smell of smoke. Even then I had to sign a 'damage' recovery agreement. The question was 'how can you damage a room that is already damaged?' Called the front desk 4 times but no answer. Got dressed and went to the front desk but no ... Read more

I'm so sorry as I love giving good reviews, but I just can't do it for this place. It is desperately needing a revamp of their entire place. Carpets, walls, bathrooms...Yuck! The "free continental breakfast" was very skimpy. With all the hotels out there to choose from, even at inexpensive prices, a hotel really needs to step up their game to have repeat customers. Won't be coming back here...ever.

Arrived on Monday, May 18, 2016 at about 6:00 pm to check in with our pre-arranged reservation. The hotel claims to be newly renovated however, appeared to be a transient hotel. The people lurking in the parking lot appeared to be less than upstanding citizens. Upon entering our room, it was crawling with ants. We went to the front desk to ask for another room only to find the same condition. We went back to the front desk and asked for a full refund of our monies paid. They agreed to refun... Read more

Econo lodge was average hotel! Great for one night! It was clean what is the most important! It was tv in the room, mini fridge, parking spot. Close to walk around, i even walked to downtown. I highly recommend this hotel with not wow expectations!

The only saving grace about this place is that you can get to the Salt Lake International Airport without going to the Freeway. Otherwise, the neighborhood is scary, complete with homeless, hookers and transients. I walked a block to find something to eat and was hit up twice for money, saw a young lady loudly berated and backed down by her boyfriend and asked if I needed a "date." The room was dark and the desk was in the wrong place. The TV was not HD and the bedspread had seen its better... Read more

We booked this hotel because it was cheap. It was gross and we felt unsafe. Sketchy people around. The bathroom was the worst. Molded shower. The water smelt metallic. The best part of staying here was eating at the Red Iquana. Delicious Mexican food.

Arrived at midnight; made reservation by phone to Choice Hotels. Dirty, torn carpet. Box spring & mattress didn't go together. Broken bathroom door; one sink unusable. Old, broken lamp shades. Dirty chairs. Graffiti in the closet wall. Breakfast was terrible; did not eat it; the crowd of guests was not nice; the neighborhood was not in the better part of town. The next morning we were told they would change the room; We just left.

Air conditioning is horrible and does not circulate throughout the room making it very uncomfortable to sleep at night and even be in the hotel room at all. I'm the type of person that likes it to be cooler inside than it is outside in the summer time. 70 degrees should be the standard indoor temp to be comfortable and this isn't possible with the old fashioned air conditioning systems. Systems definitely need to be updated and replaced with newer ones if you want to be comfortable in your room ... Read more

There was a convention in town and some hotels were full.. and it was getting late .thus we saw this one. Surprise..there was a room... We didn't read any reviews first otherwise there would be no way we'd stay here... The shower faucet was hanging off the wall... The office smelled like smoke and something I couldn't figure out.. The breakfast in the AM looked decent but I didn't dare try it! Sorry for the negative review but if you have a hotel and charge anything above a dollar, then yo... Read more

We booked here thru choice hotels, because our motorhome broke down and we were stuck. They were recommended thru the service center doing the repairs(not any more by the way) Floors were so filthy we couldn't take our shoes off. Everything was so Filthy we couldn't even sit down, broken mismatched filthy furniture. Did I mention it was Filthy. The breaker for me was no hot water. After being stranded on the side of the road for a day and a half I thought I could endure anything. But I was... Read more

We were stuck at the airport and needed a place for the night. All hotels were full. so, as a last resort we called Econolodge. They had a room. They only took my name when I called. So, when the taxi took us there I asked the driver to stay for a minute to make sure they truly had a room. The room was ok. It was a place to sleep and get a shower. Breakfast was ok as well. They had an airport shuttle and took us there the next day, They also recognized us as choice privileges member...... Read more

We booked a room through booking.com while passing through Salt Lake City. We found multiple cockroaches in the room and bedbugs on the sheets. After reporting to the front desk we were assigned another room, which also had bedbugs. We decided to leave the hotel for a different one.

This hotel is conveniently located for visiting downtown Salt Lake City and has a good price. Our room was very clean and appeared to have been recently painted. However, it lacked some maintenance on the bathroom wallboard. The upstairs exterior carpet had lots of wrinkles and smelled of urine in two stairwells. This needs to be replaced. The breakfast doesn't have much selection and the overseer had a bad disposition. He needs to be replaced or change his attitude. I gave the staff average due... Read more

This hotel is quite large with lots of rooms at reasonable prices. The rooms are clean and beds are comfortable, the front desk staff were not overly friendly and helpful but did assist with some basic information. The breakfast left nothing to be desired however there is a Denny's Diner about a mile away on the same street which covers that failing. The buildings are only two levels hence there are no elevators and disabled access appears to be limited. As the name implies it is close to downto... Read more

The room was clean, but not very quite. Wi-Fi worked great. The room was clean and simple. This is a fine place to stay if you want to be close to the airport, don't need a place with a lot of frills, and are looking just to go to bed, wake up and fly out.

This was a horrible hotel, carpet was stained and filthy, black mold in sink, faucet leaked, no plug in sink, furnishings were old and dirty, phone and remote were sticky with grime, towels were small, stained and holey, toilet was broken, only one light of 12 in parking lot was functioning, sidewalks stained and filthy. Convention in town, no rooms anywhere. Lots of international and out of state guests at this hotel, this hotel gave a terrible impression of US hotels.

Rust everywhere smells bad will not stay here again. You really overcharged for the rooms. Beds uncomfortable just yuck. The best part was Joe the shuttle driver. He was sweet and helpful. The rest of the staff during the day were rude.

We were in our room long enough to turn around and walk out. The locks were broken off the doors, there were stains on the carpet and bedding. The kicker was the guy parked in the lot next to us doing drugs in broad daylight with my kids standing right next to his car. We left and drove into Wendover and stayed in a much nicer hotel for less.

It was night when we arrived, (dark and rainy) we unlocked the door and turned on the light switch, it didn't work. We used our phone for a light and turned on the light by the TV, it did not work. Next we turned on the lights between the 2 beds, there were 2 lights, only one worked. Turned on the lights above the sink, there were 4, only two worked. There was no coffee pot, there was 2 packages of coffee, but one had been opened, I contacted the office and they did bring a coffee pot. I was... Read more

The room seemed OK when we first got there for the price, but the AC did not work and we were hot all night, we also had $40 dollars taken from one of our bags, I told the front office and they really did not care. I would not recommend staying there.

Do not stay here. We found bed bugs in room 135. We quickly left the room and went to the night clerk. We told them there were bed bugs and wanted our money back. He didn't even seem surprised that we found bed bugs. He gave us a full refund but still.... BED BUGS.

There has never been hot water in my room when I've taken showers. My washcloths were not replaced, so this required another special request. It took me 2 days and 5 requests to get a clothing iron in the room.

Another shabby Indian-run hotel. Stay away. Furnishings shabby. Plumbing didn't work, fans noisy. Needs updating and proper maintenance. The night clerk was helpful. Didn't find bed bugs, but apparently others have. I'm tired of hotels that are poorly run. Frugal should still be clean and operational.
