So I'm currently here at the hotel for my honeymoon and I'm a bit disappointed. First there is construction so you have to walk a long way to the front of the hotel, as shown in the first pic. Front desk told us a golf cart can come pick us up so we waited there for 25 minutes and no one came. So we went back up to the front and I talked to the lady at the front desk and she's like well I called them so I don't know why they didn't go. And the rooms layout are nice but the furniture is needing a... Read more

Front desk and golf cart staff friendly. Rooms smelled like mildew. My windshield was cracked while loading luggage in the area under construction. Restaurant staff did not speak English and messed up my lunch order twice. The view and beach access saved the location from a poor rating. If you are just there to relax you will be fine. If not go elsewhere.

The staff needs better supervision, seem to wander on their cell phones and not paying attention to details. Under construction, should be closed 'til completed - noisy. Almost empty but they gave us a one bedroom near construction. We would have liked a beachfront suite - we were told they were all booked. Not a sole in any of them the whole time we were there. Staff wanders right past things they should pick up and neaten up. A towel sat on the bottom of the pool the whole time we were there. ... Read more

I had a great time for 3 nights but because of who I was with, not becasue of the hotel nor the people in charge of it. In our room (502A), one of the restrooms did not work. We had to manually add water so it can flush!!! Imagine doing that fo the complete stay!! The ladys in charge of cleaning the room never showed up til the last day and because of I called Front Desk completly mad about it. 3 night stay witout cleaning the room? Are you serious? When my family and I arrived we were offered a ride on a golf cart to the resort. The attendant was friendly and brought a luggage cart and assisted us with our luggage to the room. We stayed in room 505D which was brand new. Had it not been for the attendant leading the way we would not have been able to find the entrance to this section as the doors were not labeled. The room itself was very nice and clean. I was disappointed the room did not have a microwave as advertised. We had to ask... Read more

We have been coming here for about eleven years. This resort is a great, family resort with a beautiful pool and right on the beach. The rooms are nice with fully equipped kitchens. Every room has a balcony and ocean view. The staff is friendly and the guests always seem to be nice folks. We look forward to our next visit next year.

Worse place ever to stay, roaches in the room, sand in the bed sheets, always running out of clean towels and no Manger to be found to get their attention. Employees were rude! They recently painted our hallway and spilled chemicals and didn't bother to clean it up, the fumes hot in our room and making everyone sick. Our bathroom toilet paper was replaced with one that was wet and dried and was brown on the bottom with black mold, unbelievable! We complain in the front desk and we were told "So... Read more

From check in to check out our experience was awful. We were put in Building D which has a door to the general building that had no soft barrier and was hitting closed every 10 or so minutes all through the day and night. Menus not in English. We tried to use the WiFi and even went to the outside balcony and still could not connect. The floor in our room was dirty and appeared to still have construction material on it. I called the Front Desk off and on for over an hour and 25 minutes, bot... Read more

The hotel has a nice pool cleaned daily, luckily I was in the D building (newly built) it had great room, when we first entered it was missing a duvet on one of our beds, strange for a hotel that costs close to 250 a night you would expect everything to be there (of course accidents do happen) we called and they said they were probably being washed (of course for the price you pay you would expect to be everything to be right the first time around) so of course we waited 3 hours passed nothing h... This hotel is right off the causeway, easy to get to, not to far from all the action on the beach. The pool is a good size and looks beautiful with great view of the beach. The staff was very accommodating and spoke English! I booked a "Deluxe Suite" which wasn't a suite at all. Just a basic double room. It had a very small refrigerator, one cup coffee pot, small table and sofa bed. It is nicely furnished and clean which is all that matters to me. My main complaint is that it did not have... The pool, pier and private beach access were very clean and enjoyable. The enormous pool is well kept. However I would not stay at this hotel again due to lack of room cleanliness. Nothing is more gross than dirty floors and corners with a previous guest's hair and even a toenail. Yuck! We had a party of four in a room that roomed up to six but there were never enough towels for everyone, even after housekeeping "cleaned" the room. I called to ask for more towels and they were hesitant an... Read more

When we arrived, they put us in the wrong room, was going to make us pay for the room we HAD paid for. When trying to get refunded to go somewhere else, they wouldn't. The exact time check in was supposed to happen. I am only giving a two because the mngr on duty took the blame for having to wait all day and others who got there after us pulled in at 3 and 330pm and got a room. So to begin let me start by saying I will never visit South padre Island again because all these shops and businesses are a rip off. We booked a room at the "Resort and Spa" because the pictures showed a kitchenette. I called a few nights before to make sure that we had a kitchen in our room and was told yes. We get there with a room that doesn't have a kitchenette or a microwave. Our friends paid the same price and they had a room with a kitchen area with a microwave but no stove. We informed... First, it was represented that we would have a fully stocked kitchenette in the room. There was not even a microwave in the room we were given. Rooms are small and certainly do not have the amenities advertised on the website or other travel sites. Though the pool area was nice, the general building condition is average and clearly maintained cheaply. Lastly, and most infuriating, several days after we checked out, my credit card was charged additional funds for what hotel staff described as ... Read more

Overall, it was a relaxed weekend getaway. The food was really good. Excellent Chilaquiles Verdes for breakfast! The pool was wonderful, very big and not crowded. The proximity to the beach was the best, much shorter than other locations on the island. The beach was not as crowded as some of the other areas/larger hotels with a good balance of number of guests to amenities. Hotel management was very prompt and responsive to any requests. We had a great experience at The Peninsula. First of all we got a great deal on the room under 140 a night. Then when we got there they had golf cart shuttle service, a beautiful pool, free coffee and beach towels. I'm the afternoon they have a happy hour. 2$ domestics and 4$ margaritas. The rooms we got were brand new and nicely furnished. Great weekend getaway stay.

Stayed several nights at the end of October. Very quiet this time of year which was what we wanted. First time to SPI and would go back this time of year. Our room needed a bit of updating but was just fine. The door frame into our room was not in the best shape and didn't seal the best, so it let humidity in.
