The location is fantastic! Right on the Riverwalk. Unfortunately we got a room where all our windows face the hotel patio, so had to keep the blinds closed the whole stay. We felt like we were living in a cave. The bedroom was so small that we had to put our suitcases in the living room and walk around or over them. The shower was not good. The hotel itself is nice and very convenient to everything.

We had a two bedroom suite. It is smaller than the average Wyndham unit. With that being said, the place is nice. Our rooms were very comfortable. The living area is small, but sufficient. The smell that the reviewers mentioned from the dumpsters was bad, but bearable. The only thing that I can honestly complain about is the washing machine. That was awful!!! Awful!!!!!! The clothes were never dry. We had our clothes hanging to dry all over the place. Kind of embarrassing to vacation ... Read more

I was given the Penthouse, a mixed blessing. It was indeed the top floor, but the bedroom was up a steep, narrow, spiral stairway. I knew I would never get my suitcase up this stairway so since I was traveling solo I unpacked and hung my clothes on the main level. In the AM I would shower then go downstairs to get dressed. Had I had family or friends in my party not sure how we would have worked this out. If you are ‚??old‚??, have knee or hip issues this is not the room for you! Ask befor... Read more

I must start off by saying the location is fantastic. Right on the Riverwalk, food and activities for everyone. We had a one bedroom suite with a river view. Unfortunately the building is not what you would expect for a Wyndham resort. Our first experience was the aroma of trash dumpsters. You access the hotel via alley next to the trash. Our room had a mock balcony overlooking the river that had someones dirty clothing on it for us to view. Very special. The windows are painted shut and the air... Read more

The last time we stayed here, was about 10 years ago in room 706 in the penthouse with the spiral staircase....someone has already reviewed that room. When there, the bar, Howl at the Moon, kept us up at night until late hours. Earplugs were free at front desk. Not sure it's an issue now. We decided last minute to visit San Antonio and out of the two Wyndam properties, Riverside only had a 1 bedroom for the days we wanted. We decided to give it a try....was pleasantly surprised it was 401 with ... Read more

We have stayed several times. Everything is in walking distance. Buckhorns is pretty much next door. Within a minute of leaving your room you are on the Riverwalk. You have tons of restaurants and bars are just right there. The Hardrock Cafe is just across the river. Go down on the river walk through the shopping area under the Hyatt and walk up the stairs that runs through the fountain. Then you are at the corner of the old fort ruins and across the street from the Alamo, the old church.... Read more

While the location is good (right on the riverwalk and in the heart of the action), and the staff at this hotel could not be nicer, the facility itself is concerning. Our room was in a state of disrepair. Surfaces (doors and walls) were dirty and the carpet was stained and very dirty looking. The concrete beams in the rooms were unfinished with nails and bolts protruding. Carpet was baggy in places and showers had a terrible water flow. The spa on the deck was "under maintenance" which appe... Read more

To be honest, I was truly concerned about staying at this hotel based on some of the reviews and when we first pulled up in the taxi, I thought my concerns were justified. HOWEVER, I was very surprised after entering the hotel, meeting the staff and seeing our room. We stayed in Room 305 which is a river view room. Very clean and tastefully decorated. I loved the historic feel of the hotel. The bed was extremely comfortable. Air conditioning worked well. No bad smells, no noise from other... Read more

I love this place so much because of the location and rooms. It's not the BEST because it's limited service but for someone like me (Manager at an Omni) I honestly couldn't care less as a break from people is what I look for. Donnell downstairs made a new key for me (I lost my moms so was trying to replace it before I got questioned) and he was nice about it. The check in staff was very nice (my 11pm check in at Vegas wasn't the same...shift change, I get it) so that was nice. Corner room is so... Read more

The room smelled terrible. I requested to be moved and was given a room on the 3rd floor with a broken air conditioning. Around midnight maintenance finally figured out the problem. It was over 90 degrees outside. Parking is $22 a day and was not mentioned when I booked my room. There is no off street parking. The location mentions it is on the riverwalk but it is on the far end of it away from the restaurants. Spare yourself the hassle stay at a nicer place.

We are Wyndham owners and have stayed at many Wyndham resorts over the years. This was our first trip to San Antonio and I chose this particular resort because it used fewer points than the other location. After reading all the reviews on TripAdvisor, I was concerned that I had made a bad decision. But after our stay, I can honestly say that I'm not sure why so many people have given this place bad reviews. I kept reading about the alley entrance, the smelly sidewalks to get there, the noisy nig... Read more

Pros....Located on the Riverwalk where restaurants, shopping and theaters are close at hand for those of you who are visiting San Antonio for the first time. If your interest is the Riverwalk, The Alamo and the other Missions, a car may not be necessary because there are great city tours available. If you are lucky like I was and get the Penthouse the view is quite pleasant rooms are clean and staff is nice. Cons .... We spent a week here and absolutely loved the location! It's right on the River Walk with great restaurants. The Alamo, River Center Mall, The a Tower of the Americas, laser light show at the San Fernando Cathedral and many other interesting things are within walking distance. Every employee we encountered at the resort were great including Dean, Paul, Joseph, Roy, Eddward. We called for maintenance one morning and Roy was there in a few minutes and took care of the problem. They were all v... Read more

We stayed here for four nights. The location really can't be beat. It is right on the river wall and a convenient, easy walk to the Alamo, cathedral, etc. There is no parking on site but there is a garage a half a block away. They do offer a parking pass with in and out privileges for $15. We bought this not knowing what we were going to be doing, but ended up not driving the car much, so may not have been worth it. The location isn't very nice. It is an alley with garbage bins , back d... Read more

I've never left a review while still staying in a hotel. But after getting no help from staff at the hotel, I thought it best to warn everyone else. This is truly the worst hotel in the world. Where to start. NO HOT WATER. First time we called about the issue, Ernest told us someone would look into it tomorrow. Upon pushing him, he came and looked, finally believed us and told us that he would get a maintenance guy. Maintenance guy arrives an hour later, only to tell us a boiler is broken and t... Read more

I had mixed feelings about this place based on some of the reviews. Ice concluded that some of the negative reviews are from spoiled travelers. YES IT'S AN OLDER BLDG. But it's well maintained. Yes there is dumpster receded into the bldg next door. WTH is the problem? You're not staying outside next to it! Just walk passed it. Smh. Or make a right out of the building and you won't see it. Awesome location right on river walk. I had a1 bedroom. It had a kitchen area with a small table a... Read more
