The hotel is in a great location, and next to a parking garage that is only $5 per day. Downside is the rooms are very small. Felt cramped for a couple to get ready in. Air conditioner was extremely loud at night, and did not work well. Room did not ever cool down. Bathroom was very tiny, and the shower water pressure was very low, and did not get very warm. Took a long time each morning to get the shower turned on with enough pressure and temperature, even for a lukewarm shower. Would no... Read more

This iconic hotel is a treasure for those who love historic hotels with character. Upon arrival, the desk clerk was very friendly and everything was in order. She gave us several recommendations for restaurants located nearby. We were in town to attend a play at the Majestic Theater, located right across the street, so convenience played a large part in selecting the Sheraton Gunter and we would definitely stay again.

My company keeps us here on longer overnights, and sometimes we get in pretty late. This time we arrived around 11:30 at night and our group was hoping to grab a drink and maybe a bite to eat before turning in for the night. After asking Barrett at the front desk for suggestions he took the initiative by contacting the hotel bar to arrange an order of drinks before they closed. After getting changed we all met downstairs with our drink orders taken care of. The bartender was closing up but was w... Read more

It didn't ring a bell when we booked the room, but we were ecstatic to learn that the hotel we unsuspectedly were to stay in was the hotel where Ralph Speer recorded the great Robert Johnson in room 411. Stefan at the desk could see our eyes light up when he was explaining its history, and would later actually allow us into the room where the magic happened, and where the ghosts still reside. The Sheraton has done a stellar job in their remodeling, and incorporated the hotels' blues history very... Read more

Stefan at the front desk really went the extra mile for us when we showed up. He changed our room because of an issue but all with a cheerful attitude. The big bell man already was very helpful and friendly. I`d suggest this place any time you go to a show at the Majestic.

Start to finish..we pull up down town San Antonio, literally a skip down the road and your to the river walk. Starbucks and Walgreens across the street which is a plus for me when I travel. It is roughly 30ish a night for parking, it's secured parking while you have your visit and really good location. It's one of the oldest hotels in the area. The inside does not appear old, as it is updated to feel like a 4 star hotel should feel like. Almost has 'Vegas' feel in the lobby. The swimming pool is... Read more

We went to the hotel for a wedding and the hotel was nice, and had a somewhat historical feel to it but there are better hotels for that on the riverwalk. Main takeaways: -Lobby was nicely laid out -Very helpful staff -Average location -Expensive parking (use the garage across the street) -Our room was below average for a luxury hotel (small shower, poor layout, signs of mold & rot on windows) In my experienced opinion: There are nicer hotels in DT San Antonio at that price point with better... Everything you want in a hotel and more. This hotel is either the oldest or one of the oldest in San Antonio but it has been remodeled and is quite modern with antique charm. Large rooms, excellent staff and absolutely no complaints. There is a nice little deli on the street level across from the Majestic Theater. Groups would walk by on their ghost tours and would always stop at the hotel to talk of its hauntings. I didn't see any ghosts so that was good.

The first thing you notice is how old the place is. But This place is organized. beautiful on the inside. Nice friendly staff. I will say that something got messed up where they I was booked a small queen room. I had my 25 year old son with me... and was not happy with sleeping with him. This hotel has a lot of cute quirks. It's a nice hotel for reasonable price. It's right in the heart of downtown and extremely close to the river walk. There is also a conveniently placed $5-$10 garage across the street if you don't want to pay $32 for valet.

Good location and the lobby beautiful....my room was less than desirable! No hot water in shower- they had to fix, paint peeling, mildew around AC vent, battery in lock safe dead, no fridge, wallpaper peel. One, yes one, regular size bath towel provided. It was nice that they gave a $5 food/beverage credit if I didn't have housekeeping. Parking way too expensive ($37 a night) so I chose garage across street for $9.

The décor, bar and trendy setting made us feel like we were out on the town. We used an Uber to get around so we didn't have to worry about parking, however I was told there's cheaper parking just down the street with one of the public garages. The location is good, as you can walk to many places in downtown SA. They must have recently renovated because it came off as very fresh and modern, but they still had a few of the old antiquities hanging around like signs and pipes w... Read more

I had a long trip in and was ready for a break. I got to the front desk and there was a problem with my reservation. Luckily I was in the hands of a rock star. Samantha said just a minute and I'll fix this. A few minutes later I was on my way to a fantastic room. The hotel maintained the old charm of a 1920s hotel and mixed it with the modern amenities travelers demand.

Our stay here was problem-free except for some of the food. I felt the breakfast buffet was poor although the pastries were excellent. The bacon was overcooked the sausage was just warm not hot. The scrambled eggs were not from the shell. Potatoes were extremely soggy spongy. After complaining about this the first day there was no improvement the second day about those potatoes. I would highly recommend that enjoy their stay here except for the food. We also have pork chops at a banquet that we... Read more

Everything was great. Room was nice, staff was friendly, and the location was great. Only complaint is that the housekeeping threw away our parking ticket which caused and $18 charge to get our car out of the garage, but the hotel made it right and gave us a $50 discount for the inconvenience and that there is no fridge in the room. Will definitely stay again!

Pros: Great location, near the Riverwalk, within walking distance to the convention center and The Alamo. Hotel going green was awkward at best. If you hang the placard outside your door housekeeping will not visit your room at all. That means the bed will not be made, floor vacuumed, trash emptied, or soap/shampoo replaced. To have any of this done it is up to you to find and explain to housekeeping.

It may be old but they sure have kept the place up. The staff are so friendly and accommodating. The rooms are nice but a little dated. The elevators are the fastest I have ever been in and not in a bad way. There really isn't a view of much because of where the hotel is situated but we weren't in our room much anyway. The Sheraton Club is a must. Great place to relax and catch a snack or watch TV. Also there is a small breakfast in the mornings for Club attendees. The pool is small and cold but... Read more

The common spaces in the hotel were beautiful, and the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. The rooms themselves were quite small, but have clearly had some recent updates to things like flooring, bathrooms, and decor. The food was pretty good and the bar at Market on Houston was great. There are a few downsides - depending on which side of the building you're on, the street noise at night can be incredibly disruptive. Our room was very tiny. I understand this is an older hotel but there was only room for one bed-side table and the bed was pushed against the wall, which makes getting in and out of bed awkward if there are two of you. That being, said, the bed itself and the linens were soft and extremley comfortable. The a/c unit does not operate at a steady hum, but rather comes on like a jet engine, which woke us both up throughout the night. There are ample power outlets, however most need to be replaced as...
