Would never stay again! Small beds, bad view (we stayed in an "upgraded" corner river-view room on the ninth floor), ran out of toilet paper, sink backed up, paid over 200.00 dollars just to park the car! Extremely overpriced and for what? It is pretty from the outside but that's it. If I ever visit this area again I will try a different place on the River-walk... I was so disappointed.

We honestly didn't dislike the hotel, but it was nothing special. Arrival and departure are ridiculous due to the size of the valet area. There has to be a more efficient way to work that. The only real complaint was that the room never got below 74 degrees. We sleep colder than most, but that was a little warm. We ordered room service for dessert. It was $32 for 2 people and they covered both desserts in raspberry sauce. Red velvet cake and strawberry short cake don't taste great with Raspber... Read more

Had a wonderful wedding just outside on Marriage Island. Stayed for three nights and what a wonderful experience. Nadia on Reception was welcoming and extremely helpful and so was Eddie assisting with our bags. Beautiful rooms, lovely restaurant and a great pool. Extra mile made by Nadia when upon return to our room we found champagne and chocolate strawberries. What more can I say. EXCELLENT

If you are traveling to San Antonio, Staying at the Hotel Contessa is a MUST. The atmosphere of this place makes you feel like royalty. It is right on the riverwalk with walking access to everything downtown. Takes 5-10 min to walk anywhere you need. It is also on the quieter end of the riverwalk, away from noise. Again, Only about 5 min walking down the river to start running into all the nightlife and restaurants. The staff here is TOP NOTCH. Fast Eddie the bellboy is always attentive and frie... Read more

It was a truly a delight to stay at the Hotel Contessa, which is perfectly located on the riverwalk. The staff was rather pleasant, especially Ismael (a catering staff). He was always willing to help, and was truly a delight to interact with it. Above all I got a great night sleep!

We stayed in this hotel at the beginning and end of a trip to the hill country this past week, and rather than it feeling like a convenience to bridge flights to trip, it felt like another piece of our vacation. We were three women celebrating our 50th year of meeting at college, and the hotel staff sensed a celebration and did all possible to enter into that spirit with us, helpful, kind and jovial with us. I stayed at the hotel for a conference and would definitely choose it again if work brings me back to San Antonio. The hotel sits directly on one of the most beautiful sections of the River Walk, just far enough from the real touristy area dense with chain restaurants and souvenir shops to make it a peaceful oasis. All the major sites (e.g., Alamo) and many good restaurants, though, remain in easy walking distance. The hotel public spaces (lobby area, bar and terrace, etc.) are beautiful and w... Read more

I've stayed at both the Marriott and Hyatt hotels near the convention center/river center and the Contessa is a better choice in terms of the quality of the rooms and the service. The food at the restaurant, Las Ramblas, is also better than the food at those other hotels. The Contessa has suites - which provide more room of course - and the living area is quite spacious. It is farther from the convention center and in a more quiet part of the riverwalk.

Hotel Contessa is pretty divine. I got an amazing deal from a third party website - my job wouldn't normally allow such extravagant accommodations but very glad I found this deal. Hotel Contessa is a lovely hotel on a quieter section of the Riverwalk. The dining was a little pretentious-y/frou frou for my liking but the rooftop pool was fantastic. Directly outside the river entrance is a place called "marriage island" which is heart shaped and has a huge old tree where weddings are performed. Dinner was awesome. My husband I came to this Hotel for some rest and relaxation and this placed delivered. From check in to check out we were treated like a treasured guest. The staff is so friendly and welcoming. The rooms are spacious and so comfortable. The restaurant food was first rate! We really loved the location, right on the River Walk where everything is within walking distance but far enough from the congestion. We have found our go to hotel!

The hotel is right on the River Walk which is great. The concierge was very helpful with suggestions for restaurants and other information. The room was relatively expensive but was quite dark, with one small window in the bedroom, making the separate 'lounge area' unwelcoming to spend any time in. However, the hotel had a nice restaurant and open area downstairs that were good to hang out in when it was 100 degrees outside.

The good: the hotel is beautiful, it smells great, the check-in people are pleasant, the hotel is on the river walk and close to everything, and the restaurant is very good. Room service was excellent. Not inexpensive, but nice portions and good quality. We arrived at 10:30 and had breakfast downstairs at La Ramblas. Very good. Excellent service. We sat at the pool for a while and they got us into a room around 11:30, which was great. The pool was warm and has sun and shade areas. Great exercise... Read more

The Hotel Contessa sits right on the river and the view rooms must be amazing. Our suite faced the city and night lights and in spite of having traffic on two sides, was very quiet. The in house dining was good, particularly breakfast on the riverfront patio. The hotel offers only valet parking and I thought it was excessively priced and was terribly inefficient. We only needed one night's stay to visit the RiverWalk. We did not have a great view in this room---I don't know whether they have better---but we got our money's worth. If you want a great view of the Riverwalk, you need to pay plenty for it. We were happy to be close and to be able to pop out and be right there in the middle of the best portion of the Walk. The hotel itself is lovely and stately. We'd have been happy to stay there longer.

Stayed for a couple of days last month and its just an "OK" hotel but nothing special. It's well located on the riverwalk but not in the main area so a bit quieter. The roof top pool and sun terrace are great. But the room we had just smelt damp and was too dark - we used the sofa bed but as this is near to the door which overlooks the atrium and lifts it is very noisy at night. Overall, the location was central to the Riverwalk yet off the mainstream traffic. It was a perfect location to spend a few days on the river.

The Hotel Contessa was a great stay! The prettiest spot on the River! Much less crowded than other places we have stayed. Only great things to say about the Hotel. The booking site I used through Trip Advisor ended up charging me 300. more dollars than the hotel would have charged! That was very disappointing and I will not use them again!

Had a room with a great view overlooking the river. Love the trend forward decor and vibe of the hotel! A great venue to impress a business or personal partner. Service was exceptional. Definitely will stay there again!

We received a free room upgrade to a wonderful suite. The staff was lovely, the location is very convenient to everything. Quite possibly the most comfortable bed I have ever slept on. They really do think of everything and it was clean and bright. Just the perfect place for a romantic getaway weekend. Thank you!

Contessa is a top notch hotel right on the Riverwalk in downtown San Antonio. The staff are very competent and highly professional. The rooms are spacious, quiet and comfortable. What a great place - it is my go to place when I visit the Alamo City!

We stayed at Hotel Contessa for 5 nights and loved having the spacious suite with all the extra space to relax and entertain. We had a city view and although you heard a little traffic from below (no big deal) we heard no noise from the halls of the hotel because we had the living room between the door and our bedroom. We loved that. We loved having coffee in the room, a big bathroom, a large bedroom, the tv's, the small refrigerator, in room safe and a living room and dinette. It was great.... Read more

Gorgeous get away, in the heart of San Antonio right on the Riverwalk. I have never seen such a gorgeous outdoor river lined with restaurants, trees and wild ducks. The hotel is magnificent inside and out, and the service is impeccable. I would definitely stay there again the next time we go to San Antonio.

Hotel Contessa is a nice alternative to the typical large-chain hotel. The rooms are modern, spacious, and refreshing. The rooftop pool provides an outstanding view of downtown complete only with a margarita in hand. Being on the river walk is certainly a perk, and it's close to nearly everything. My guests were very pleased with the hotel overall, but the service could have been much better. Several requests were left unfulfilled, and we were issues no apology.

This Hotel far exceeds any of the other Hotels on the Riverwalk in every aspect. The rooms, spa, pool, staff and valet. The restaurant below has the best steak I have ever tasted and is my daughter's favorite.

This is a wonderful hotel on the Riverwalk. We were in San Antonio for a seminar and this was where the event was held. We had an event room rate and took advantage of it. The rate gave us a suite, really nice. The room was very well decorated and clean and comfortable. The bedroom was large and bed was very comfortable. The roof top pool was beautiful. They were scheduled to remodel it so only got to use it one night. Not sure why they were remodeling, I thought it was very nice as is. ... Read more

I stayed here for 4 nights leading up to Thanksgiving. This hotel is awesome. Keisha at checkin set the tone for a wonderful stay. I had a King Suite with river views on 3rd floor which was perfect for viewing the riverwalk. Spacious suite at tree top level. Close proximity for everything riverwalk. CVS is one block away if you need water or snacks or wine. Every employee at this hotel is top notch. The 3rd floor housekeeping attendants were great. They kept everything nice and clean. ... We arrived a little early on the day before Thanksgiving. Staff is friendly, helpful and always were ready to accommodate. Be aware, valet parking is expensive at $36 dollars a day. You get free in and out but who wants to drive if you are staying at the Riverwalk? If you have plans to go to Seaworld or one of the other parks, by all means do what is convenient for you. The staff readily told us about a public parking garage diagonal from the hotel $16 a day, by the hour. We parked our car and n... Read more

We chose the Contessa because we wanted something unique in a great location. It markets itself as a luxury hotel, but its service levels are no where close. It was probably too boutique, as 1) the hotel chose to close its pool DURING THANKSGIVING WEEK with no notice as far as we could tell, 2) it also chose to do some facade work the same week, though it did drop off a note about that, 3) 1 of its 3 elevators broke Tgving day, making for very long elevator waits the next 3 days (no one could fi... This hotel was a great choice for our family. The room was immaculate, spaceous, and quiet. We didn't feel like we were in a hotel but more like a 1 bedroom apt. The staff here is excellent from the valet, door men, bell staff, front desk, etc - worth every penny and I would stay here again

Wonderful room, good location. Easy walk to river. Parking is a drag. They have parking two blocks away and when checking out, too many at once so u go get your own car or spend another night waiting! Otherwise a very nice venue.

Had an early evening dinner and cocktail in the Hotel Contessa's restaurant "Las Ramblas". The food was not great, no depth of flavor and quite mediocre at best. The cocktail was great! Maybe the bartender should be the chef. I would recommend the hotel to a friend but not the restaurant.

Very nice hotel with nice room, bar, and pool, though the pool area was a little small. It is located on the quieter side of the Riverwalk, but still fairly close to the main action. To get to the more active areas, it might be easier to cross at street level rather than river level. The one bedroom suite was nicely decorated and comfortable, and it worked well when traveling with kids. The beds were very comfortable. It had some nice floor-to-ceiling windows, but none of the rooms have balconi... Read more

This hotel is very clean, has a great location, fast elevators, outstandingly professional staff. I would stay here again on any future visits to San Antonio! It's an easy 15 minute Uber ride from the airport.
