As a hotelier and a world traveler I have to say this hotel is fantastically beautiful. Rooms are comfortable and well presented. It just feels like the customer service is not representing this fantastic San Antonio treasure. Check in was kind of lame , not rude, just simple and careless for what I was expecting . Service at the pool was hard to get. You have to call the operator and they direct you to room service. Waiter was like he was tired and again, all the employees don't look like they... Read more

This is by far our favorite hotel! I love the location, the staff and the ghost adventures! But honestly we go for the beautiful pool!! I highly recommend staying here. You have to try their breakfast too!! Our manager, April, was such a sweetheart too!

The Menger, without question, is the best hotel experience in San Antonio, Texas. I have stayed at other big corporate name hotels, (some for business, others for vacation) including other historic properties;, however, they pale in comparison to The Menger. From the moment you enter the hotel, you feel not only welcomed but transported back in time. I love the original historic wing so much, I always stay there. The rooms are beautifully decorated to the period, and really provide a soothing re... Read more

We have always loved the Menger Hotel. It just feels good. But now it is too crowded around the hotel. I am glad they are pet friendly since we brought our little 3 lb chihuahua but there is no walking (bathroom) area and I thought the fee was a little much for a very small dog.

The Menger is a charming historical (and larger than it seems ) hotel adjacent to the Alamo. The location is excellent. I didn't research it that much, but it looks like there was an original hotel, with a good portion added onto (maybe early to mid 1900s) and then a newer portion (late 1900's). We were in probably a second phase in a very back corner. But it was great ! Charming air conditioned room, big comfy bed. The hotel has a nice old-school restaurant with... Read more

The Menger is a great place to stay. The location is near the Alamo, Riverwalk and many shops. The negative about the Hotel is that you are required to use valet. The wait time was unacceptable to get the vehicle.

I have been intrigued by the Menger for many years and never stayed there before. We finally did it and I am so glad we did. I love classy/classic older buildings and the Menger is gorgeous. The lobbies, our room, the pool ---- all beautiful. They just don't make hotels like that any more. Service was courteous and warm. We visited the city for a reunion, so functions prevented us from having time to have dinner in the dining room, but we did have the famous mango ice cream. It totally lives up ... Read more

Charming hotel in the heart of SA, next to the Alamo and a short walk to the Riverwalk. Hotel staff, from the manager to cleaning service, were exceptional. Colonial Restaurant's service and food were a cut above most hotel restaurants.

Second visit to the Menger in a little over a year and we were not disappointed. Great location and the staff and rooms were wonderful. Got to stay in the older part of the hotel and the rooms were clean and comfortable. The restaurant food and staff were excellent. Would highly recommend this hotel if you want to see downtown, the Alamo and the Riverwalk without the hassle of driving and parking.

Love this place! Beautiful antiques everywhere. Comfortable, cozy room with high ceilings. Located a block from river walk and right next to Alamo and rivercenter mall. Enjoyed sitting in rocking chairs in the courtyard. The hotel and our room were very clean. Staff was friendly and helpful. Only complaint is the breakfast was overpriced and not very good. I've stayed in many hotels downtown and this is my favorite.

Old fashioned service, and nostalgia meets modern conveniences. Great staff service. Location is excellent. Next for to Alamo and across the street from shops, tourist attractions and Riverwalk Valet parking runs about $30 per day. We tried to go cheap by parking at Rivermall garage, but the parking there is now $25 per day. Might as well get the royal treatment at the Menger. Guest rooms overlook atrium or streets.loved our stay. Breakfast buffet $16. Very good with omelet chef, fruit, meats, o... Read more

The bar manager was so attentive to us making sure we were having a good time. He was also full of historical facts about the bar and hotel. Rooms were clean and comfortable. The staff was friendly and very helpful.

Staying at the Menger is an experience unto itself. The hotel is *right next door* to the Alamo, and virtually connected to RiverCenter Mall. It is one block from the Riverwalk. You are literally in the middle of everything there. The hotel itself is a beautiful old building that has been well maintained. There are pictures of famous people from U.S. history on the walls. Hotel was historic and impressive. The staff was courteous and professional from the valet parking to the front desk to the room maids. The dining experience did leave a sour taste in my mouth and dampened our mood for our first night at the hotel. The meal looked to be a Swanson microwave meal and the sides had to be sent back because they were cold. The indifference of the waiter was confirmation that we should not have chosen to eat in the hotel and we did not make that mistake again.

My wife and stayed in the Lilly Langtree suite in the historical part of the hotel. The suite is very comfortable hand has a view of the pool area. The 2 full bathrooms make it easy for the family to get ready for the day without waiting for a long time. Being that the room is in the historical part of the hotel the pluming was retro fitted causing the you to have to step up to get in to the bath area. Not a problem for us at all however it's not ADA compliant. But that's how the hotel was built... Read more

Selected The Menger for a company sales meeting. Close proximity to the Riverwalk, Mall & The Alamo. All of my co-workers live outside of Texas. Utilized the Renaissance Room for the meeting. Lots of space, with a great view. The hotel also catered breakfasts, lunches and snacks for our 3-day meeting. Excellent service was provided!

This is by far the most beautiful hotel I have set foot in. Across from the Alamo and a few short blocks from the hustle and bustle of downtown Houston street and the Riverwalk. Menger Bar is fabulous - ambience, food and staff in this hotel are superior. All the modern comforts including free WiFi are there too! If you love to wax the historical, this hotel is for you. The location is absolutely great, downtown right across from Alamo Plaza. We simply walked to the Alamo and it was right near the highway as well for easy access anywhere. Each and every one of the staff made our stay more enjoyable. My family & I attended the "Save Texas History" symposium at the Menger, and could not have asked for a more appropriate context from which to address new information on the Alamo. Not only were the day's lectures and exhibits beautifully presented in the Menger's ballroom, but my room accommodations were equally lovely, quiet, and peaceful.

We attended the Alamo Symposium and stayed 3 nights at the Menger in the "historic" section of the hotel, 3rd floor. Although very nostalgic and wonderful antiques throughout, we noticed quite a loud rumbling noise coming from what we originally thought was the ceiling fan. But once we turned the fan off we realized it was coming from the air conditioner. And of course we couldn't do without the a/c since it was 98 degrees outside we just had to suck it up and get use to the rumbling. All in all... Read more

Fantastic location - within walking distance of many restaurants, shops, attractions, etc. and a quick Uber ride anywhere else you don't want to walk. The hotel is very nicely decorated and we loved the old style feel of the hotel. The employees at the hotel were extremely helpful. We had to pay a $30 parking fee which most hotels on the river walk require you to pay but we were given cards for two free drinks each so it came out pretty even. The bar was nice. We stayed at the Menger for several celebrating our 25th anniversary. We had a view of the park around the Alamo.
