When my wife and I stayed, the rooms were in the process of being renovated. We had an older style room. There was nothing wrong with it, but you knew it was slightly dated. The grounds, and the pools in particular are fantastic, the only complaint is that the weather was not a bit warmer to enjoy it more (although it was November so cannot complain too much). I will certainly look to go back once the rooms have been renovated, and when the weather is nicer to enjoy a round of golf.

Although the property is beautiful outdoors, the inside rooms are really showing their age. Our room was dark and dingy. The patio door track was filthy and saw several bugs. For the price of the rooms, they should be updated to be more in line with the rest of the property. It seems as if all of the updating was done to the outside - which is very pretty. Food was decent at the property and the water/fire features were great. The adult pool was closed for a party one of the days we were t... Read more

Positives: Beautiful views, exceptionally clean, most workers friendly & helpful; Bartenders all excellent and waitresses very friendly; service was fairly quick & efficient Negatives: Spa was extremely disappointing, some clerks unknowledgeable, bad communication, one clerk was flat out rude which ruined the great massage I had just received - I will never go back to that spa. The steam sauna was cold, the thermal sauna bath was cold, if the dry sauna didn't work I probably would've caught pne... Read more

My friends and I had a wonderful time at La Cantera. The resort is beautiful, and the view from the infinity pool is amazing. The numerous outdoor fire pits provide a cozy setting for relaxation at night. There were plenty of dining options and a late night room service menu was available. Our favorite meal was the breakfast buffet at Sweetfire Kitchen. The Sweetfire staff was very attentive, and they went out of their way to make sure we enjoyed our dining experience. I did not want to get out of bed - it was super comfortable. I surrounded myself with the pillows before I fell asleep! Thank you for not putting the coffeemaker (Keurig) in the bathroom! Attended a conference in one of the ballrooms. The lunch was delicious. The staff were very polite and professional. All the facilities were clean.

I visited with my hubby and we had a great time. Beautiful grounds , cosy room and lovely pool area. The only issue I had was with food and the hallway . There was no buffet during week and so could not enjoy breakfast at the hotel. Also the hallways smelt like a barn, hotel management need to look into this. Overall it was a beautiful experience, will visit again.

This is just a very very Romantic cozy property. Nicely tucked away on a hill with incredible ambience and amenities. The resort fee is well worth the value for the perks you receive. A free shuttle to and from the La Cantera Shops and very nice restaurants on property and short distance off property. Warm friendly and accommodating staff, and nice comfortable spacious rooms. We stayed here with our young children for a week for fun and business conference. Service is amazing, grounds are beautiful, restaurants are great although pricey, super clean, and you truly feel like you are at a luxury resort! I would recommend a junior suite with kids and bring life jacket if needed-- none at resort. Free shuttle to six flags, shopping, restaurants and more. Great location!

The hotel was very nice and most of the staff was really nice. However, when I checking in I wasn't told of all that the resort had to offer. I think the front desk should have explained the hotel, pools, spa, restaurants and bars. I would have taken advantage of the spa services. Also, one of the 4 days there, my room was not cleaned. Rooms were very nice and beds were excellent. Enjoyed the pool area as well as a light lunch by the pool. One morning also did an urban hike of the area. Sunday brunch was wonderful. Definitely will return

I stayed at la Cantera this past week - Wed-Fri for work and continued my stay through the weekend. My husband and I had the most amazing time. We loved the food/drinks/atmosphere/infinitypool/service - Everything was PERFECT!

Doors were not open, I did not receive a warm welcome, the rooms are old and smelled and were not as described on the website. The food was subpar, drinks were ok. For a "resort", I would not recommend it to anyone.

This property was a great resort and made me feel miles away from work. I was there for a work conference, and have never seen such a well trained consistent staff that made you feel individual and important.

I will start by saying that I will not hesitate to return to this property. The location is great, views are stunning, and the grounds are truly unique. My knock on this property is the staff at the front desk was lacking. We checked in and were told we had early check in. This was not the case. We then were offered another room, but the two people at the front desk were confused as to where the room was, and were not able to make a suggestion to us regarding the quality of the room relativ... I found hair in my bathtub, hair on my plate of food. I would insure that all food employees have hair pulled back and the room makers. The mattress and pillows were not of the quality I expected. The bedrooms really need to be updated...bathrooms were nice. I had a 40.00 in room dining order (2 items) and very poor presentation. It was tasty, but a poor presentation.

La Cantera was a nice surprise for a work trip. The accommodations met my expectation and the view was spectacular. The service was amazing. The food however, did not wow me. If you get a chance, enjoy the pool. And the gym was amazing.

I was impressed with the staff who assisted me with valet parking and porter service, especially with my late arrival, and my checkout process. Refreshments and meals provided at the conference were quite tasty and presented with finesse.

I came to La Cantera a few years ago for a business conference when it was a Westin property (the Westin La Cantera). During that visit, I had a great time and made a note to bring my wife back in the future when we had a break from the kids. One of the things I liked about it back then, was that it was an adult resort with multiple restaurants and bars. In fact, I couldn't even get into the premium steakhouse restaurant at the time because it was so popular. However, there were multiple bars an... Read more

La cantera is a beautiful resort and the location is beautiful. The rooms, food, and service staff was friendly and helpful. We had two separate room reservations and were not offered a quick transition when two in our party were staying a 2nd and 3rd night. Overal we will recommend la cantera and hopefully will return ourselves.

La Cantera is a wonderful resort, with amenities for every age group. This is my 3rd time staying here and I always bring my family so that they can have a vacation while I work. We did have some issues with our room. Our room was not vacuumed. There was food on the floor and our sheets were dirty. Michelle at the front desk had house cleaning come and clean our room. As we were getting ready to shower, I notice that the clog was filthy and the water drained out slowly. Very disgusting! Ag... Read more

Great easy-going property with gorgeous grounds, moderately nice rooms, and a great locally sourced restaurant, of which the maitre d' is appropriately proud. The only bad mark is for the valet service which really was an obstacle with our motorcycle. The best properties do not give us any grief. However, this is a lovely place and we would definitely go back.

This place is AMAZING!!! I had previously only used the spa here but this past weekend we went to stay at the resort. My mom was celebrating her birthday and the staff made the weekend wonderful. We stayed on the Club Level floor and from the very beginning they show that they know how to treat their guests. When we drove up to security and gave them our name they radioed to valet parking who was waiting for us with the bellboy all smiling and welcoming, not once did we see an unfriendly face... My husband and I just left after spending two nights there... We had started our week with two nights at the JW, and the difference between the two is huge. First, this property is beautiful. It has been done well, and the views are incredible. The hotel is a maze that is slightly confusing but nothing you can't sort out shortly. The biggest bother we had was the service. While management seems to be wandering around and making a point to greet you, they never actually asked us how we were, ... Read more

Great Relaxing Weekend Stay! My wife and kids stayed here for three nights. The standard room is comfortable and sufficient for a family of four. The kids enjoyed the pools and slides, but the kids pool is more suitable for children ages 2-6, so my children got bored pretty quick with it. The service was great and the staff was friendly. We ate supper at Primera and it was just OK. Breakfast at the Sweet Fire Kitchen was great. The kids got food from the Vista Grille and it was fine. We d... Read more

Everything was great except for bar service which was very slow. Drinks good but way over priced for amount you're given. They needs to be a gluten free menu, especially chips or offer other chips instead. This is alarge resort & they should be prepared for any kind of food allergies especially gluten. Highly recommend getting a cabana if there are a group of you. We had shade, fans, lots of seating and were able to watch some of the olympics. Shade was very valuable in August heat.

We stayed at La Cantera more than a few years ago for a conference and thought it was just OK. They have since done a complete renovation including beautifully designed public spaces, larger than average, well appointed rooms and an assortment of restaurants. They have redone the pool complex completely. I say complex because there is an interconnected group of pools with different personalities. Starting with the kids pool, all of the pools have ample seating and offer cabanas for groups or fam... Read more

We went to La Cantera to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. Although we live on a tropical island in the Indian Ocean with many luxury reports, it's the most we've ever spent on a hotel. The view is somewhat of a disappointment. We were not impressed by the Hill Country View. Also, there are many things that take away from what view there was...power lines and houses. Beautiful hotel with a beautiful view. I loved going to the pool and that there was an adult pool for my mom and I to get away from all the kiddos. People who worked at the bars were really nice. I never write reviews but I would like to tell you about my recent stay. The property, the food, the service, the comfort were all "5 Star" Excellent.
