I think the staff was trained by some inferior hotel chain. No one seemed happy to work here- not helpful. Do Not ask for directions from the hotel staff. I think it must be a joke for them to give you the wrong directions. Watch for giant unmarked sinkholes in the parking lot so that you don't tear up your vehicle. The only thing this hotel has going for it is the close proximity to the Riverwalk.

My wife and I spent a weekend in San Antonio to visit the Alamo and Riverwalk. The hotel is within walking distance of both venues, as well as restaurants and shopping. Parking is secured (gated) and well lit at night. We saw couples, singles and families all enjoying the amenities. Great place for a visit to the city of San Antonio.

Hotel was close enough to walk to the Alamo and riverwalk and shops. Hotel is clean and good for the money especially with the free breakfast. Parking is $15 per day which is very reasonable for the area. Only negative comment I have about the hotel is that I would liked to have had a safe in my room. Room didn't have mini fridge but I didn't need one. Staff all very pleasant.

Good location for walking to Alamo and Riverwalk. Nice, clean hotel. Staff friendly and exceeded all expectations and went out of their way to help. The iron in our room was broken and with one call the staff was there in 5 minutes with a brand new one. Hotel could use a little update in the hallways.

This was my second time at this hotel. Staff is not overly friend, they are sufficient. Breakfast is fabulous, has several options and is HOT. Pool was nice and well maintained. This hotel is within walking distance to the River walk which is very nice. The parking is plentiful in the back and it is gated. They provide ice lemon water in the lobby which is refreshing when coming in from walking downtown.

Clean hotel, friendly, helpful staff. Good breakfast and coffee is available 24 hours per day. The hotel is within walking distance of the the River Walk and Downtown San Antonio. Only negative comment is the $15 per day parking fee. It was less than some of the other hotels & parking lots - but I felt it should be included in the hotel room charge.

I was a bit concerned initially because upon arriving I realized it was an older property. However, that concern was quickly diminished once I met the front desk staff and observed the cleanliness of the lobby/dining area. All the staff, front desk, housekeeping, breakfast staff were friendly and helpful. Rooms clean with comfortable bed/pillows. The hotel is only a short walk to the Riverwalk area and convenient to the interstate. Secure parking area and daily rate $15. I would stay again.

I was actually here for business, but the location of the hotel was very nice. The Riverwalk is truly in walking distance, as are plenty of other things. The hotel itself was fairly typical of a Hampton. The lobby and hallways were a little dated, but the room I was in had been renovated somewhat recently. Given the location and the price, I would probably stay here again if I ever return to San Antonio.

With this hotel being a short 3 block walk to the Riverwalk and Convention Center, I would highly recommend it. Staff is very helpful. It is a gated hotel so I felt safer with my vehicle being in the downtown area overnight. I believe Hampton Inn's are consistently good quality and good pricing. Unless you just want a room overlooking the Riverwalk, then this is a great hotel.

Even though I checked in online, the room was not ready upon arrival. While waiting for the room to be cleaned, my family and I waited in an uncomfortable lobby. It was obvious that there was something wrong with the air conditioning. We went to dinner and returned, only to find bugs crawling in the room. Unsure of the origin/type of insect, we immediately went to the front desk and checked out. This was a horrible experience given the fact that we drove 6.5 hours to arrive at this location.... The service was excellent, which made the stay better. There were guests who kept letting their doors slam against the stop, which was very annoying, especially at 6 am. The walls are very thin, could hear the people in adjoining rooms. Location is excellent, only ~2 blocks from the Alamo and Riverwalk.

We stayed here this past weekend. We satyed on the top floor (6th). The hallways are warm/hot, but our room was plenty cold. The staff was friendly. The hotel is not right on the riverwalk, but you are definitely within walking distance. Everything was clean & quiet. Breakfast was hot & fresh.

Convenient to downtown and Convention Center, very nicely decorated rooms but no refrigerator unless requested in advance. Parking fee included all-day parking during a meeting even after check-out. Usual good Hampton bed/bedding and okay complimentary breakfast.

I am a Hilton Team Member and travel often, earning Gold Status after this stay. I am usually quite understanding to any issues that may occur during a hotel stay, since I am well aware of what goes on behind the scenes at hotels being a Guest Service Agent. However, waking up after the first night of our stay, we were awaken around 9:15 AM after getting in past midnight, to a housekeeper next door playing loud music, which lasted around half an hour, as well as many loud noises. The hotel is close enough to the Riverwalk, very conveniently located so you won't have to worry about parking around the area. It is also accessible to the freeways. I wasn't able to use all amenities because we spent more time going around the city. Room was just the right size and bathroom was clean.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the Hampton Inn. I came into town to see my wife on Fort Sam. When I arrived it was around 7:30 in the morning. Although my room wasn't guaranteed till 4:00 the front desk agent searched the system and found a room to move me into. After this I was able to go down and enjoy breakfast. Overall, I have enjoyed this weekend with the Hampton!

Beware of car theft at this hotel!!! Left a suitcase of my 2 daughters' winter clothes in locked truck in gated parking lot. The truck was broken into and the suitcase was stolen. 2 other cars were broken into as well. The hotel claims no responsibility and will not even help us pay our insurance deductible. Bad business for frequent Hilton hotel stayers!

I travel a great deal and don't really demand much, but this falls below standards that I come to expect from the Hampton system. Staff was not knowledgeable of hotel facilities or the surrounding area. I fell as I was imposing on them every time I asked a question. Poor experience.

I am a Hilton Diamond member so I have a lot of experience with all of Hilton's brands geared to business people. This is one of the worst Hilton properties I have ever experienced. First, my room was not made up one day. That has never happened to me before anywhere. Second, for some reason my room card(key) would not work each evening when I came back from work. Third, in a crowded lobby for breakfast I still had to use my room card to get in through the front sliding door because as I wa... Read more

I am finally getting to write a review on this one. I am very familiar with Hilton brand and stayed at plenty of Hamptons. Never ever I had an issue with any of my stays. But this hotel left a very sour taste in my mouth. Nothing about this property is appealing... Location is not the best (even though it is close to Downtown attractions of San Antonio), hotel looked dated, furniture, walls and floor were dirty, ceiling stained. But most importantly, service was horrible. I've never experienced ... Read more

First of all the positive. The staff that was there early the morning of November 5th was wonderful and very helpful. One was a big guy and he knew the goings on of where to eat around the city. This will be our third time to stay at this Hampton, but the first time to be charged the $15 parking fee. I called when we got the bill because that charge came later on our Visa bill rather than when I paid at check-in. The guy tells me "everyone charges around here". If Hampton had to valet the ... I spoke to the gentleman on duty and he told me about the Hampton on River Walk that had gated parking and helped me secure a room. I spent five nights in this hotel and if you stay in Hampton Inns regularly, you know what you can expect. The location is very close to Alamo Square, and an easy walk to downtown San Antonio. It is close to a highway overpass that is a gathering point for a large number of homeless people, but I felt safe walking to and from the hotel at night. Police are very visible. For the room price, it's hard to beat. The Good: Great location. Room was clean and nice. Breakfast was some of the best of an... Read more

We wanted to stay at a hotel that was close to the Riverwalk area of San Antonio and also offered parking. We were not disappointed. Parking was ample and the walk to the Riverwalk was about 10 minutes on safe streets. This hotel is close to a downtown shopping area and AMC movie theatre. Great location to experience all the best that San Antonio has to offer.

Typical Hampton Inns are usually welcoming, warm, and well-designed, with helpful staff and thoughtfully appointed rooms that are quiet. This hotel is worse than a typical Hampton Inn. Perhaps it was converted from another hotel? The entry way is tight and there is little room to gather while enduring the inevitable long wait at the front desk. Staff seem overly rushed and stressed and are not nearly as relaxed and helpful as at other Hampton Inns I have stayed at. The rooms are OK but the wind... Read more

When I made reservations online there was no indication that they charged $15 extra to park on their premises. It was not until I checked in that I realized they charged this (there is a large and prominent sign on the desk). At this point it is tool late to change hotels. Another hotel a block close to the Riverwalk is newer and nicer and doesn't charge this fee. As for the room, it was poorly lit and a bit dated. I won't be staying here again.

The hotel location is excellent. The staff is friendly. the beds are what I've come to expect as a loyal Hampton Inn Customer. The room size was a little smaller than I expected and parking is an additional $15.00 + Tax per night of stay. I would suggest staying out of town a bit further if you can find transportation into town to see the sights

There are a lot of scary people loitering around the hotel. Parking is $15, which seems high considering the cost of the room. The hotel has undergone a nice remodel, but the rooms are smaller than most Hamptons I've stayed in, and cost more money on average. The is a lot of noise from the freeway. If you're going to spend this much, you might as well go a little closer to the Riverwalk, and get something a little roomier and quieter.

The location was good, as was the lobby and room. However, I have never before had to pay extra to park on the lot of a Hampton Inn. In this case I was charged $15.00 to park at the hotel. I advised the clerk that I had never before been charged to park at a Hampton, including this one, and that the extra charge was not mentioned on the website when I registered for the room.
