The staff here has been absolutely phenomenal and highly accomadating. They helped get us squared away with a reservation mixup (that was my fault, not theirs). Ms. Mary and Brent really went above and beyond the first day, and Ellie raised the bar even more the next day. Being a business owner myself, I'm not easily impressed, and don't post a lot of reviews, but these three folks deserve to be commended. I've stayed in much more expensive hotels, where I did not receive this excellent level of... Read more

For what this cost, you could probably stay on the riverwalk or something instead. The hotel rooms are run down. The doors SLAM and wake you anytime someone enters/exits their room. No complimentary breakfast, wi-fi costs money or doesn't work. The location kind of sucks. Go one way and you can walk to down town. Go the other way and you have a higher than average chance of getting run over or stabbed.

I stayed two nights. The staff was very friendly during check in and the room was clean, though slightly dated. The pool area looked nice and orderly, though I didn't have a chance to enjoy it on my visit. If you're looking to visit the downtown attractions, they provide a shuttle service that leaves the hotel every hour on the hour. Considering the cost and availability of parking downtown, the nightly $15 parking fee is certainly worth it.

I came to San Antonio to see the Alamo and the river walk through the town. This hotel had a great price compared to others in the area and also had lots of amenities. The free shuttle service was the best part for me because parking downtown is really expensive. Once you want to come back they will pick you up.

Just stayed one night, the room was nice and check in as an HHoners member was smooth. Don't try to order anything special at the bar, they will ignore you and then bring you the wrong type of wine. Just seems like they need more staff training in that area. The manager was nice though and gave us the premium bloody mary at the happy hour price.

My husband and I were very pleased with this hotel. The people at the front desk (especially Caitlin and Mary) were exceptional! They made us feel welcome from the minute we walked in the door. The shuttle to the Riverwalk, etc. was very convenient. The daytime driver, Victor, was more than willing to drive us anytime. He did not make us wait for the "top of the hour". The rooms were clean, quiet, and the bed was very comfortable.

This Doubletree has some important things going for it. First, everyone we met, from the shuttle driver to check-in to servers, were friendly. I think that says a lot. Also, the pool area is lovely, and I liked how it was put in the center of the hotel in an interior courtyard, instead of looking at the parking lot. So what made this hotel "average"? Quite honestly, I gave it that rating due to how beat and scuffed the room and hallways were, and the location. For a nicer hotel chain, this ... Read more

This particular hotel needs a major renovation. It is shabby and run-down. The ceiling had mold on it and the desk chair didn't work. Also, don't ask for non-feather pillows unless you want to get chunks of foam.

Stayed at hotel just for a weekend get away. The garage was completely packed. Parking was at a premium especially since you have to pay $15 a night just to park there. You come into the hotel and the staff is just completely nice and go out of their way to be friendly, but the hotel itself definitely needs to be renovated and updated. The mattresses were nice and comfortable.

Don't stay here! It is nice but they charge you $15 just to park. They won't tell you till you go to check out and it's on your bill. Ridiculous pay over $100 to stay at a hotel and they charge you to park. It is pitiful that they charge your card without authorization.

Usually double trees are a good place to stay but this place is different. Beds are hard, elevators slow, front desk staff ignores you standing there. Starbucks employees ignore you. I was told by a taxi driver not to go out past the stoplight at night as it is a very bad part of town. You can hear all the traffic outside.

The location, dining, rooms and amenities of this Doubletree are first class but where this Hotel excels is with its professional, friendly and service-oriented staff. Despite calling multiple times AND calling to check in prior to arrival and being told we had connecting rooms as requested, our connecting rooms were not available upon arrival. The explanation: the person who checked us in over the phone didn't 'block off' our rooms, which resulted in one of our connecting rooms being given to someone who had reservations for only one room. The first night, our family was split among separated rooms due to the error. Additionally, our AC in one room did not wo... Read more

Had a military symposium àt UTSA. I could walk to work! I forgot my work credit card which required my husband to overnight it. ELLE watched for it and personally called me when it arrived. She made sure that the correct card was used to pay for my stay. Thank you Elle. Everyone was pleasant and greeted everyone in the building. My only complaint was the rain dripping on me between the hotel and parkin garage. Major problem was the wet rug in front of the elevator.

If you can get a deal for this on one of the internet travel sites it can be worth it. I wouldn't pay more the $100 a night for these rooms. There was trash in our room when we checked in, but it was otherwise pretty clean. It was convenient for getting on I-10. As for location it is not far from the riverwalk, but really it was too far to walk there. Its not far from one of the sketchier neighborhoods we saw in SA.

The hotel itself is a 3star at best right now. I was told they are preparing to undergo renovations. The hotel/rooms are dated but clean overall. Beds seemed a little small for a double; not great for 2 adults when one is fairly tall. The staff....AMAZING, period! The location is great; barely 20mins to Sea World and around 5-7 mins to the Alamo or Riverwalk area.

The hotel is clean, but has a small pool for a hotel that large! Parking is expensive and so is the food. It is close to a cool restaurant MI Tierra that is a San Antonio icon!! It is about a 20 minute walk to the Riverwalk, but not great to do in 100 degree weather.

The hotel staff was so amazing. I usually do not even speak to the staff at hotels but this group texted me when my room was ready, texted me to make sure I was happy. That is just so totally amazing. When I checked out, the same young lady that texted me was there and remember who I was, I couldn't thank her enough for caring about me as a customer and not just a number. The hotel was really great as well, but staff blew everything else away.
