The Bad - unsolicited early morning, Saturday and Sunday, wake up calls. Informed front desk of error after first incidence, but was not corrected until after second incident. - parking added to my bill (did not bring a car with me). This was removed upon request, but was still annoying. - cost of breakfast (not automatically included. A sad and inhospitable development in the hospitality industry in general) was outrageous--- cost of living in Houston is about half that of NYC, but the food was... Read more

We recently stayed at the Wyndham Houston Medical Center. We chose the hotel for it's proximity to the medical center. It was a solid choice. The location was convenient, the lobby and common areas were nice, our room was comfortable for our family. We had a two queen room to split with kiddos and this worked well. The beds were comfortable and the rooms were quiet. We were on a higher floor and even enjoyed views of the ongoing construction around. Our daughter loved the cranes, distant... Read more

Our stay was uncomfortable because we were booked in the wrong room layout. When calling in to make the reservation I specifically requested the same room size that we had just checked out of that morning and that it be the kitchen, bedroom, sitting room as three rooms. I did not receive a confirmation e-mail as requested and when we checked in the reservation was for the wrong room type. Restaurant and housekeeping staff is very nice. Housekeeping skills are terrible - the vacuum cleaner is spitting out as much as it is picking up. The windows and counters are just smudged, not cleaned. The more senior staff (older guys) driving shuttle buses were great. The younger ones copped attitudes and were busy on their phones most of the time. Barry tried to intimidate clients rather than do his job properly and on time. Know ahead of time that the walls in this hotel are VERY thin. Without going into too much detail, we could hear everything going on with the couple in the next room. Seeing as how I was traveling with my teenage daughter, this made for a pretty awkward stay. Sometimes it sounded as though the people were in the room with us instead of on the other side of the wall, and this wasn't simply because they were being loud. The view from our room was a very unattractive construction project but I was pleasantly surprised that the noise from said project did not disturb our sleep. I was disappointed in the $11/day fee to park the car and the $16 breakfast buffet, but the sleeping conditions were perfect and that is really my #1 concern when traveling. This hotel is very convenient to Rice Univers... Read more

My experience at this hotel was the worst possible experience. The hotel room was already sort of creepy, but I didn't really have any specific complaints until the second night. On my second night, I found cockroaches in the bathroom! After calling to ask for assistance, I waited ten minutes, and then the cockroaches disappeared. I called back to request to move rooms immediately. It was 10 pm and I had a flight at 3 am, so I already wasn't going to get tons of sleep. They came up, gave me... Read more

The fact that the hotel website offers "shuttle service" but this doesn't cover the airport is really annoying
Submitted on 16-10-2016
We were pleasantly surprised that the hotel "room" was actually a suite with a fridge, dishwasher, and a stove. The pool was clean and the shuttle service was perfect for getting around the hospital area. Hotel staff were friendly and there's a Burger King a walk across the parking lot if you're looking for a cheaper food option. Only downside is parking was $11/night.

Very convenient location to downtown hospitals. Shuttle service to local hospitals and restaurants is excellent. Friendly professional staff. Next time I would skip the rental car. Hotel breakfast is $17 but next door Burger King is open at 600am and serves oatmeal.

The staff was excellent. In fact, when booking there were no king bed rooms available. When we checked in to our surprise the Staff upgraded our room for us. What a wonderful surprise, especially with the stressful days we had ahead of us. Many thanks to everyone for taking such good care of us!

Flew in early morning from St. Louis and my wife became ill on the way !! Got to the property at 9:30 a.m. and the young lady behind the desk made sure we got a room that early in the day so that my wife would not have to endure the day in the car while I was being tested at the Medical Center !! Everything about our stay was exceptional !!! Thanks to Wyndham, Scott Henrikson Springfield, IL

Whether staying at the Wyndham Medical Center Hotel for business or pleasure, you wont be disappointed. From the friendly staff , to the ease of parking and the Starbucks coffee, you will be impressed with your stay. The suites are perfect for families, the mini kitchen has all that you need to help make you feel like you are staying in a "home away from home".

My y stay was nice, but can't understand why they charge you 11.00 plus .91 cents tax to park on their property while staying there and not offering breakfast.

I checked into this hotel at the last minute because my husband had been admitted to a downtown hospital. I didn't know the area well, and didn't care to venture too far from the hospital, and this was the first hotel I found with an available room. The staff was lovely...all very friendly and helpful. My room (308) had two queen beds. The room itself seemed rather small. It was spotless, and the bed quite comfortable. The toilet flush was extremely sluggish, and took two flushes to achiev... It would be nice if staff was more friendly & helpful. I asked a male house keeper where the coke machines were & he said there were none. A guest was nice enough to show me where they were. The staff did not greet me as I entered or left the building.

The hotel and staff were very accommodating and friendly. The shuttle drivers went out of their way to ensure we made it to the conference on time. The drivers also went above and beyond when asked to drive us to dinner or sight seeing. The rooms were nice, neat, and clean. One front desk staff was rather direct and not very helpful upon our arrival. I was not even sure what floor my room was on as he did not direct me or offer information about the hotel, room, amenities, etc. The other f... Read more

Better to avoid this hotel which was well below Wyndham standards. The rooms are old and not well kept: toilet was clogged, shower curtain missing. Staff was unresponsive to these issues disputes multiple calls When it was peak check out time (7:30-8am), the front desk was shockingly unoccupied for a long time with guests waiting. It seemed staff was hanging out watching this unfold.

Called ahead to notify them of a late arrival. Took 3 tries and 4 minutes on hold to get through. Arrived at 12:30 AM without so much as a "hello" from the front desk agent. Was assigned an accessible room without any discussion or consent. Coffee in room for the morning had not been restocked. Bed was comfy. Lots of construction out the window starting at 06:00. Plenty of better options out there.

I brought my parents to town the night before my father's heart procedure. He is in a wheel chair. I was able to get a 2 room suite that worked perfect. I was able to assist when needed but have my own bed. In our haste, I left my Kindle in the room. I came back later that day and was pleasantly surprised that they had it for me. I left one star off due to a couple of items being broken in the room and I was not able to talk to anyone about my Kindle on the phone.

The location is great and priced fairly. My room was clean, as was the entire hotel. If you want a room with a refrigerator, dishwasher, and microwave, be sure to request that. Not all of them have it. The bad part is my room had an adjoining room. I could hear everything that was being said in the room next to me - and they were not talking loud.

Nice hotel close to the MD Anderson. Free shuttle for guests to several points 2 miles around and to the hospital. Nice rooms. Sometimes A/C is too noisy. Good gym. Restaurant service is average, so is the food. Could be better. Service is good in general.

I stayed in a room with a kitchenette. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. There were loud hammering and sawing sounds coming from the construction across the street that started early in the morning. Wasn't able to fall back to sleep once that began. There also wasn't a closet in the room, but made do with the ample drawer space. The bed was very comfortable. Only in the room starting later evening. Overall, would recommend this hotel.

Our room was great. We were there twice so far due to hospital visits. The beds are heaven after being on road and then feet all day. Room service and restaurant were adequate, but when you're too tired to hunt for food it is ok. There is a pizza hut and budget king close by. Though if able eat at hospitals. Room service was great, only one time during day did a maid enter without knocking. Also building goes on next door to the east and can be noisy, but interesting to watch, if you are into t... We're here over Thanksgiving weekend. Staff is very friendly and gave us a complementary upgrade to a larger suite. We booked a kitchenette with 2 queens but I think it was a junior suite and now we have a regular suite. The kitchen is a little odd though. Exactly 4 plates, bowls, forks, knives, spoons. 2 glasses and disposable coffee cups. They didn't restock the coffee cups so I had to go to the front desk to get some. It wasn't an issue, but it's weird they don't have more cups already in the... Read more
