We booked based on excellent TripAdvisor reviews and were not disappointed. Room, cleanliness, attention to detail were all excellent. Chocolates on the pillow, wine tasting in the evening at the hotel bar and a great restaurant in the hotel. Well located with other bars and restaurants within walking distance, we also recommend leaving the car with the valet rather than trying to find parking around the hotel.

This was my first stay in this hotel. I want to make a special shout out to the front desk staff when I arrived. Laura and Jennifer were fantastic. They were very helpful, and quite personable. I'm staying for business and would recommend this place to all my business associates in the Virgin Islands.

The Lancaster is a true historic luxury hotel. The staff were attentive and friendly. The interior ambiance is circa early 1900s but modern mechanics. Lots of cool dark woods and brass fixtures. The Classic King room was a perfect size for a couple to unwind. The provided breakfast was full of tasty variety. What it lacks in amenities, it makes up with class and sophistication. If you want an upscale but laid back hotel in the heart of downtown Houston, The Lancaster is your place.

I LOVE this hotel. I stayed there two nights ago and had a perfect room. Even though it was on a major downtown street, it was practically sound-proof and I had a gorgeous view of the skyline. The gracious staff helped me find a room that would suit my needs. The bed was particularly comfortable and luxurious. The shower was powerful and satisfying. The breakfast buffet was far better than most. I look forward to staying at this hotel next time I'm in Houston.

Had a great room near the top of the hotel. while the room and amenities were great the best part were the hotel employees. I particularly want to single out Lauren who checked us in. we used the valet parking which was very easy. Also used the hotel shuttle to go to dinner. Both very satisfactory.

Everyone we dealt with was friendly and were willing to take time to answer any questions we had. The hotel also offers a shuttle service to nearby theaters and sites. Stayed in this hotel as a stopover before flying home the next day. Compared to other hotels we stayed in usa the service here was average (not sure if we just caught them on a bad day) However the actual hotel was finished to a good standard with lots of great interior touches which made it fell comfortable. We really loved the bed linen especially and decor in the rooms was my taste (being from the uk). overall a good stay.

I booked a room at the Lancaster because it was close to the Hobby Center. Little did I know that the hotel would be the highlight of my trip. The architecture is old style beauty but the rooms are totally modern and incredibly comfortable. The bedding was rich and luxurious. The bathroom was large and beautifully set up. The staff could not have been more friendly and helpful. Something I never before considered doing - buying a hotel robe. People I met in the lobby agreed they are the m... Read more

The hotel is right in the theatre district and 10 minutes walk from the Astros ballpark. Houston downtown is otherwise of limited interest, but the hotel is a short metro rail ride to the museum district, while it is easy to reach the main roads out of town or to more lively areas such as Montrose. The hotel itself is very good - large rooms, amazing soundproofing, great breakfast and pleasant staff. The lobby restaurant seemed busy every time we passed. Altogether highly recommended.

We recently stayed at The Lancaster while attending a nearby concert. The location is great. It is in the heart of downtown Houston. We were only a couple of blocks away from our concert venue as well as many restaurants. The staff was amazingly friendly. We really enjoyed the complimentary wine happy hour and breakfast. The building itself has so much character. It is a classic.

My husband and I stayed here for just a weekend getaway. The hotel is beautiful. The staff was always very nice and helpful. It is close to nice restaurants, in the middle of the theater district. The beds were comfortable and the rooms were clean and well maintained. Parking is valet, but there is a free shuttle for downtown destinations. But a lot is within walking distance from the hotel. It is just a wonderful boutique hotel in downtown Houston. We will be returning. (right now there is c... Read more

This is my home in Houston. I travel on business about 1 week per month and this is where I stay. They take care of me like family. I love it! The rooms are well appointed. The staff is amazing. Valet parking attendants make me feel like a visiting princess. The included breakfast includes all kinds of favorites, including homemade waffles. Sarah at breakfast is so sweet. I'm there so often, she gives me a hug every morning (makes me miss home less). I don't want to stay anywhere else ... Read more

The Lancaster is truly a gem. Located in Downtown Houston next door to the Alley Theatre. The property is in immaculate condition which has an intoxicating fragrance from the first moment you enter. The staff was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable about the surrounding area. This will be my Houston hotel for any future visits.

Wow. What a stay. Several members of my staff spent 10 days at The Lancaster while in trial in Houston. The entire experience was first-rate. The hotel is an oasis in Houston, with a genuinely gracious staff, wonderful rooms, and exceptional dining. The ONLY place to stay in Houston

My girlfriend and I want to find somewhere comfortable to spend our weekend in Houston. Lancaster does really well. It is very clean and nice; the king size bed is great. It is quiet during the night, so we could have a pretty good sleep. The staffs are very professional and offered very good service. The parking cost us 20 bucks, but it is in and out for the whole night, so it is still better than driving around downtown and find our own parking spot. will recommend my friends to try here. I hesitate to write this review because of fears that the next time I need a room the hotel will be fully booked. When we lived in College Station, TX we often went to weekend baseball games in Houston. And after shopping for some hotels we settled on the Lancaster as our preferred residence in Houston. My wife and I have stayed there many times. This month was my first time back to Texas in 4 years, a trip made to see some Astros baseball. I found the Lancaster as wonderful as ever. They a... My husband and I recently had a mini vacation getaway. We had tickets to see Guns N' Roses at NRG and decided to stay in Houston for the night since we had tickets to Wicked the next day. We had such a good time and the hotel was in such a great location that we ended up staying another night. Russell checked us in and he was great. He was very funny and friendly. The valet service was very quick and they even provided a shuttle to the theater. The hotel was within walking distance of the Bayo... Read more

The service is top notch and friendly and the staff is always ready to accommodate any request. The ambience is sophisticated and comfortable. The bar & restaurant staff is great and also be sure to try the roasted tomato basil soup... it is excellent!!

This hotel is beautifully decorated and very clean. The smell of this hotel is probably the best smell ever!!! Wonderful amenities too! They had happy hour at check in which mean free wine, it doesn't get any better than that after traveling.

We planned a trip to Houston to see "Wicked" and decided to book a room at The Lancaster after reading reviews about the hotel on Trip Advisor. Russell met us at check in, took us up to our room, got us a reservation for dinner at a nearby restaurant before the show, and even walked us over to the restaurant later that evening! The bed in our hotel room was so comfortable...it was THE most comfortable bed I've ever slept on in a hotel room! Seriously! And the sheets, well, they were so soft I ... Read more

Pricey for the size of the standard King we had but excellent service and a good free breakfast. Valet parking guys are great but the 20 minute wait for the car when requested can be frustrating. Not much to do in the nearby area but a pleasant stay nonetheless.

My daughter surprised us with a stay to this historic hotel. We were downtown to see a show at the Hobby Center and she decided this would be a good addition to our weekend plans. She was right! Perfect location if going to the Theater district is on your agenda. My daughter told them that it was my birthday so when we got to our room, we found a bottle of champagne, chocolates and something extra --- a nice picture frame in a pretty box! We were just there overnight so we did not use the a... Read more

Very friendly staff, very cool historic feel. Great location in downtown Houston - we hit a few bars nearby. Everything was clean and in good shape. Starbucks coffee and coffee maker were a nice touch. Great view of the city from 10th floor. Great water pressure!
