My husband and I traveled to Houston for treatment options at MD Anderson. We found exactly what I had hoped for, comforting accommodations, excellent pool and work out facility, great food and attentive statff across the board. The hotel gave us a place to unwind, recharge and enjoy an otherwise difficult trip. Thank you. Susan Annenberg

My husband and I stayed here for our 10 year anniversary. Our experience was what we had hoped for...a resort-style get-away without actually leaving the city. The hotel is tucked away on large acreage in the Memorial area which lends to the get-away feel. As soon as you arrive you are greeted by the valet (it's $30 to valet and $15 for self-parking). They were extremely polite and helpful. The front door is held open for you as you make your way into the hotel. Check-in and check-out was a bree... Read more

I have used the spa, the club, the pool, but not the hotel. Everything has been absolutely first class from personal service to actual delivery. A wonderful place. The pools are fabulous and not crowded. The Trellis spa is exceptional. The food is prepared exactly to your specifications. The gym area is clear, clear and fun. I can't think of a thing to improve upon. Unfortunately I have not used the hotel. I couldn't get the Trip Advisor app to let me assess the spa and the club, only t... Read more

However, I must say that I could easily find myself coming back to enjoy all that it has to offer. The hotel is well maintained and beautifully decorated. Every member of the staff was polite and helpful. The grounds are beautiful and well maintained. You truly get the feel of being in a serene oasis in the middle of an urban jungle. I just love this little hotel. I live in Houston and do girls weekends here often. It almost feels like you have left the city- beautiful surroundings, great walking trails, wonderful spa and pool, and comfy rooms. And convenient location in the city. It's a great option for a staycation if you are a Houstonian.

If you are looking for a quiet, soul restoring place, this is your address. A nature trail surrounds the hotel (one mile walk) and among the hotel amenities are pools, hot tubs and spa. If you are the adventurous type that want to be in the heart of city life and yearns for an active life in the big city of Houston, you have found both. The Galleria, several great restaurants and other interesting venues for children and adults can be found in the vicinity. The hotel services are impeccabl... Read more

This is one fancy-smanchy hotel. The room was enormous. The shower was nice. Comfortable bed and pillows. Super clean. We ate at the bar and chatted with the bartenders. Alex made the best vodka mules we have ever had. They were so good my husband and I each had three! We enjoyed hanging out with the staff so much we ate dinner at the bar. The hotel is stunning. My room had a pool view and the bed was super soft. It had a musty smell and could have been a little bit more spacious for the price. The hotel bar was full of drunks who ruined my meal but that isn't the hotel's fault. The restaurant was pricey as well. It is definitely a high end hotel with gorgeous decor and friendly service. Other than the decor, nothing gave me the WOW factor to justify the price. The meeting room was excellent though.

What a beautiful hotel and resort. The hotel itself looks old and majestic, lots of wood, fireplaces and art. The lobby is fancy but welcoming. All the staff I encountered were very friendly. This is a rather large complex with a nice mile long padded running / walking path around the facility. I stayed here for 2 nights and it is a very nice hotel. It is a quaint old place that is well kept, but can be busy around the pool and the roads full of traffic. The hotel is on the outskirts of Houston (which is never quite true given that Houston is massive - and I'd argue that it's not really a city - but miles and miles of urban sprawl and highways) and we almost missed it as the hotel has a very small sign that oddly faces the road - ver... Their workout facilities rival the best I have used, and they are set up in private athletic club style. The fitness room must be 100 yards long. And the don't gouge you. It is certainly possible to pay a lot more for a lot less.

The hotel is built on a rise, so that to get to the first floor (where our room was) from the lobby one had to go up and then down, on separate elevators. A lot of traveling. Reminds me of my old law school dorm from fifty years ago. Very pleasant, efficient, accommodating staff. Here for a conference and a week-end getaway. Conference room very large, good a/v. Acoustics generally good, so could hear speakers even without amplification. Good breakfast and excellent lunch at conference. Bar very... Read more

This is the "grand old dame" hotel of Houston and there are always impressive groups coming and going. The atmosphere in the common areas is great and the service is excellent. In addition is has a very good fitness center. Those are the good points. The less good points are that its fiddly to get to, close to no where, typically no cabs outside. In addition the rooms are by todays standards small and the view for the rooms is typically foliage and the parking garage, and the rooms need a do... Read more

Absolutely wonderful food and drink. Prepared to perfection with top class service. The spa is also wonderful, with full care treatments available. If you have a chance, enjoy the multiple pools -- something for everyone, plus the poolside service is quick and tasty -- way better than normal poolside service. A perfect place to go for everyone!

Loved my stay at the Houstonian for a two day law conference. The rooms were spacious, with comfortable beds, pillows, and furniture, free WiFi, nice bathrooms, a wonderful fitness center and pools, great service, and good food. The bar in the lobby is old school too. The decorum is a little rustic but it grew on me. Wonderful place.

My family has been blown away by this facility. The costumer service, spacious rooms and 3 pools have made our stay here during active professional development a dream. Getting access to amazing and incredible spa and workout area is icing on the cake. Seriously if I took all the exercise equipment in the gyms in my home towns and added it up it wouldn't be as impressive. I'd highly suggest staying here if you can, though I'd imagine you'd paid more and it would be busier in up season, we vi... Read more

You will love the beautiful lobby with the large fireplace. A perfect place to enjoy your coffee in the morning or a glass of wine in the evening. My very favorite aspect of this resort is the spa. Hands down one of the best. You must take time to partake. Make sure you enjoy the quiet room where it is dark and there is a flickering fireplace to lull you into a restful state. Love the Houstonian!

The service is so perfect you don't even know it's there. The most genuine caring by the staff that I've ever encountered. Maybe the beds could have been a bit firmer but that's easy to overlook. The location is good but not conducive to walking anywhere, which is a drawback...but when you're on the grounds it is perfect. If you have the time to use the amenities like tennis, sports club, lap pools and so on, you couldn't find a more private club atmosphere that makes you feel privileged.

The staff is kind and helpful. Great ambiance, especially natural neighborhood. Only disappointed thing is self parking area. It has narrow roads. I don't like it. The room was small but design of it was great.

I wish we had time to truly explore this BEAUTIFUL property! The room, though on the smaller side was clean and well appointed. It was beautiful. There was plenty of storage space around the room along with a fully stocked minibar. I forgot my phone charger and the front desk offered a loaner at no charge. The only disadvantage was that if you didn't use valet, the garage was a bit confusing. It's located in a nice area near the galleria and business district with plenty of restaurants nearby. W... The Houstonian is a gem. Set on a leafy campus, you feel like you're in a comfortable country club, but you are in the heart of the shopping and dining center of Houston. Rooms are spacious and comparatively reasonable, given the pricey neighborhood. What sets the Houstonian apart is its old school class. The hotel was the legal residence of George HW Bush when he was Vice President under Ronald Reagan, and you can see why the place would appeal to a dignified man of understated elegance. One m... We stayed at the Houstonian for one night during the week of Thanksgiving. You will notice how well maintained the grounds are during the drive to the hotel through the property. Upon arrival at the entrance to the hotel, you are greeted by the valet and given a choice to self park or have the valet park your vehicle. As you approach the door to the front entrance you are greeted by the doorman who seems to be there every time you decide to exit or enter the door. As we entered the lobby to ... Read more

Great location, near the Galleria, complimentary car service to Galleria - ask concierge. Over the holidays, they have a lobby that makes you feel like Christmas, train, Gingerbread houses, amazing decorations, you get it.. the rooms are good, I would pay the extra and get on the Concierge floors. they have continental breakfast and sweets and cocktails at night. The breakfast at Olivette is just amazing, So is lunch. The facts here are, whatever you want they will make or accommodate, just ask... Read more

Ok first up i will admit that I would stay here if they put you in tents. The pools and gym are not hotel facilities more like world class training camps. I have never run around a track indoors circling a huge gym but this hotel has this and more. Indoor basketball court. Tennis courts. 3 pools. And so on. Nice hotel too although no water in room. Seriously how hard can it be? The shower stuff is from l'Occitane. Why not swap for cheaper and give us water?!?!
