My husband and I traveled to Houston for treatment options at MD Anderson. We found exactly what I had hoped for, comforting accommodations, excellent pool and work out facility, great food and attentive statff across the board. The hotel gave us a place to unwind, recharge and enjoy an otherwise difficult trip. Thank you. Susan Annenberg

My husband and I stayed here for our 10 year anniversary. Our experience was what we had hoped for...a resort-style get-away without actually leaving the city. The hotel is tucked away on large acreage in the Memorial area which lends to the get-away feel. As soon as you arrive you are greeted by the valet (it's $30 to valet and $15 for self-parking). They were extremely polite and helpful. The front door is held open for you as you make your way into the hotel. Check-in and check-out was a bree... Read more

I have used the spa, the club, the pool, but not the hotel. Everything has been absolutely first class from personal service to actual delivery. A wonderful place. The pools are fabulous and not crowded. The Trellis spa is exceptional. The food is prepared exactly to your specifications. The gym area is clear, clear and fun. I can't think of a thing to improve upon. Unfortunately I have not used the hotel. I couldn't get the Trip Advisor app to let me assess the spa and the club, only t... Read more

Only had the pleasure of staying here one night, so I was not able to truly take in all that this beautiful hotel and resort has to offer. However, I must say that I could easily find myself coming back to enjoy all that it has to offer. The hotel is well maintained and beautifully decorated. Every member of the staff was polite and helpful. The grounds are beautiful and well maintained. You truly get the feel of being in a serene oasis in the middle of an urban jungle. I just love this little hotel. I live in Houston and do girls weekends here often. It almost feels like you have left the city- beautiful surroundings, great walking trails, wonderful spa and pool, and comfy rooms. And convenient location in the city. It's a great option for a staycation if you are a Houstonian.

If you are looking for a quiet, soul restoring place, this is your address. A nature trail surrounds the hotel (one mile walk) and among the hotel amenities are pools, hot tubs and spa. If you are the adventurous type that want to be in the heart of city life and yearns for an active life in the big city of Houston, you have found both. The Galleria, several great restaurants and other interesting venues for children and adults can be found in the vicinity. The hotel services are impeccabl... Read more

I LOVED this place! We were so spoiled from the moment we got there! Spa was the most amazing spa experience ever, fitness club was huge and great, I did a yoga class and ate at their restaurant. Cushioned, beautiful running trail and pools were so relaxing and gorgeous! Definitely want to go back!

This is one fancy-smanchy hotel. The room was enormous. The shower was nice. Comfortable bed and pillows. Super clean. We ate at the bar and chatted with the bartenders. Alex made the best vodka mules we have ever had. They were so good my husband and I each had three! We enjoyed hanging out with the staff so much we ate dinner at the bar. My husband had the hominy and black bean fricassee, and it was probably one of the best meals we had on our month long trip. He's a vegetarian and finding new... Read more

The hotel is stunning. My room had a pool view and the bed was super soft. It had a musty smell and could have been a little bit more spacious for the price. The hotel bar was full of drunks who ruined my meal but that isn't the hotel's fault. The restaurant was pricey as well. It is definitely a high end hotel with gorgeous decor and friendly service. Other than the decor, nothing gave me the WOW factor to justify the price. The meeting room was excellent though.

I was treated with celebrity status as soon as I stepped out of my car. This hotel has taught each of their employees the value of looking guests in eyes, being cordial, being genuine, and treating others with the utmost respect and that is a rare find in today's society. Our room was lovely with everything we needed, and getting chocolate and ice at night was a perfect treat. When retrieving our car the valets always asked if we wanted a bottle of cold water. What a beautiful hotel and resort. The hotel itself looks old and majestic, lots of wood, fireplaces and art. The lobby is fancy but welcoming. All the staff I encountered were very friendly. This is a rather large complex with a nice mile long padded running / walking path around the facility. Well worth a stroll, but there are some steep sections so keep that in mind if you have mobility concerns. It is a country club estate on 18 acres close to the Galleria. The décor is like that of a country estate or hunting lodge. The bar is very nice with warm wood interior. I traveled here with my husband for a work trip and was blown away! This resort in the middle of a busy city is like a hidden gem! We stayed on the concierge level of the hotel and were very pleased with the accommodations. I'm not sure the concierge level up-charge was worth it for us because any time we wished to stop it - it was SO over crowded that we opted to go downstairs to the restaurants instead. This hotel is 'old-Houston' - not your typical glass and chrome but characterless higher-end resort which has taken over this segment of the market. The rooms are a little smaller than standard, but well furnished and in the good condition expected at this type of resort. While the pool area was crowded and not outstanding (it was the 4th of July so there were a lot of kids / teenagers with accompanying noise-levels), the property location and surrounding green-belt is beautiful and restful. I stayed here for 2 nights and it is a very nice hotel. It is a quaint old place that is well kept, but can be busy around the pool and the roads full of traffic. I think the grounds also serve as a country/health club and that generates the traffic. The service was good, but the food was just ok, and not overly large portions either.

The Houstonian is a very nice hotel to the west of downtown, near Memorial park. The hotel itself is in a green, forested area which gives it a peaceful and pleasant atmosphere. The staff is very friendly and helpful, with a staff member always ready to open the front door for you. I stayed at the Houstonian for business for almost a week. The hotel is average for my taste and needs updating. The bathroom is very small in the standard rooms. I've stayed at the Houstonian on 2 other occasions on the concierge floor and the room and bathrooms were more spacious. This is southern hospitality at its best. The staff was super nice an welcoming. I loved the rooms and how clean everything was. The accessibility to the pool was a little annoying having to sing in through the private club entrance every time I wanted to go to the pool. Food good but could be better because it is expected in Houston to always have good food. Great hotels for families located near all that matters including amazing restaurants and shopping centers.

This is not our first time at the Houstonian, in fact, this is our 4th time! We keep coming back here largely because of the gym facility. The hotel itself is nice, well maintained with lush, established landscaping. The rooms are much like one would expect in New Orleans or older type hotel. The Houstonian is clean and beautiful. The grounds are filled with beautiful flora. The pools are wonderful. There was plenty of chairman the shade and in the sun. The service is great. Relaxing atmosphere, several pools to choose from. Wonderful outdoor cushioned jogging path(easy on the body). Many options including tennis and racquetball. Only downside is the outdoor pool bar closes at 9 so we had to run back to our room to continue watching the Olympics. Concierge recommended Papa's steakhouse which was the best meal in Houston.
