This hotel is beautiful, quirky, and fun- but the uncomfortable bed ruined our stay. We loved the look, and booked this hotel for our anniversary. The bed in room #412 (King Suite with jacuzzi) was absolutely horrible. It was lumpy and hard, and the pillows were flat with large clumps. Hands down, the worst night sleep we've ever had. I called down to the front desk to let them know, and received a "thanks for letting us know". If you're looking for a romantic getaway, this is not it. The ... Read more

The main lobby, lounge, dinning room and bar are well merge together in one Great Room! The vintage architecture, interior design and lighting are a beautiful element of this hotel. The rooms are one of the finest in Houston. Every detail of your room has the signature of a well though out plan. A beautiful room from top to bottom. I was very pleased with the Hotel ICON. It's in a very old rehabbed building very close to the baseball stadium downtown. Lots of great places to eat nearby. The vault door behind the front desk is beautiful. The old style staircases were nicely preserved and they did a great job in the lobby/bar area incorporating the buildings charm. The rooms were well appointed, bathroom huge! High ceilings and those old large lovely windows. The decor was so well done. Great bathroom amenities (love... Read more

We stayed here for our anniversary. Even though we live in Houston, we took the opportunity to be tourists in our own town. The hotel was right next to the rail which we took down the museum district. Then back to the hotel to get cleaned up before they took us in a shuttle to our restaurant. Quick cab ride back and we were in the middle of all of the fun that is a night downtown. Everyone was extremely nice. The interior was beautiful. Good cold AC. Powerful shower. Solid night sleep. This hotel is amazing. Great location. My floor was very quite and the room was very comfortable and extremely clean. The best part is front desk and customer service. I did not use the restaurant but it was busy and prices seemed decent. Didn't have time for breakfast Buffett but looked very nice.

This Hotel certainly has charm and historical interest. There is a Vault door behind the check-in desk. The location was very convenient for downtown business and getting to major highways quickly. The room was quiet and the bed comfortable. The bathroom was large and full of character. Staff were helpful and accommodating. I'd stay there again.

We were there for a wedding weekend and the Icon was not like a typical high end big city hotel. It had a blend of the old style building mixed in with modern conveniences. Extra large tub was nice and the rooms were good size. Breakfast buffet was nice as well.

My husband and I had tickets to a Rockets game and I was working downtown that day, so we decided to grab a hotel and make a quick getaway. I booked Hotel Icon and I'm so happy I did! We were able to check in to this beautiful hotel early. We are Marriott Rewards members so we got a drink voucher upon check in. The lobby is beautiful with the giant bank vault door behind the desk. I have stayed at Hotel ICON several times over the last 3 years for business and it is really sad all the changes over the last 9 months. I worked at length with the old sales team, Gloria and Brynne on several meetings only to find out they were gone when calling to rebook. I worked with the new team and was very disappointed to say the least. Briefly met new GM and he did not seem interested at all. Rooms were left dirty food was average at best. I have been coming to this hotel for over a decade and, other than the change of name/owner of the old lobby Bank Restaurant, it has not had a single change or improvement. I like the hotel and its lively location but the rooms are extremely dark, now musty smelling, the lobby is kept very warm and the music (at breakfast!) far too loud for a business hotel. The bar in the evenings is a lively and fun spot. There is never anyone that looks to have any authority around so there is little to be... Read more

First of all, I have to admit that I didn't do much research before booking two nights at this hotel. The location is very convenient -- it is very close to the CBD, and therefore it would make a very good option for people in Houston for business. However, if you're in Houston for vacation and a getaway, think twice before booking here -- although there are many places to eat around the hotel, most of them are closed by 8pm due to its location. Even the front desk staff suggested for us to sta... Read more

This hotel caught our eye because we're into old historic buildings. We stayed only one night but the experience will last a lot longer. The hotel itself it beautiful. They left many of the features of the building from when it was a bank. I wish I could have stayed longer so I could just walk around and check out all the original construction. The hotel was fine - a charming old building, quite nice, comfortable, well situated in Houston, and with smallish, but comfortable, rooms. The real reason for the review was the superb service and friendliness by the bartender - I believe her name was Elizabeth. She was very knowledgeable, extremely friendly, and superbly positive.
