Court appearance for a custody case . It was last minute and everyone I came in contact with was just super. I used the shuttle to and from the court house. I had misplace the ticket for my ca and had no problem. Madi the valet was great.

The service at this hotel is awful. Find another place to spend your money! We ordered breakfast and had to order toast ala carte for the American breakfast ( ham and eggs). Toast was extra at 1.50 per slice!!! Unbearably slow, and had to go to the lobby to refill our coffee cups because the wait staff was so inattentive. Never given silverware!! Had to get them off another table. Sam Houston you have a problem!!

I actually liked the hotel and the staff. The fact that there is a church across the street where the homeless hunker down for the night mad me give this an average. The breakfasts were good and the rooms were nice.

Stayed here for a couple of nights. The downtown location is good, room was well appointed & the view was great. Unfortunately, those elevator comments regarding the smell of vomit ring true, and the odor hasn't improved! My key didn't work the second day, had to go back downstairs with bags in tow. Was given a meal voucher that I wasn't able to use before departing.

I went to Houston on business the middle of June and stayed at this property. I arrived at 11pm.... With No reservation, the staff at the front desk were very friendly. I'm a Hilton rewards member and asked for a king room, none available so I was upgraded to a larger king room at no extra cost. The room was very nice, very clean, view was ok. I always read the trip advisor reviews before I stay at a property and found some of the more negative reviews about this property were unfounded. The bel... Read more

Most Hotels you travel to these days have good people with nice smiles always willing to help you. The thing that sets The Sam Houston apart is they make you feel like a welcome guest into your home. They care about your time there, how your day has been, and what they can do to make every aspect of that better for you. You are never just another guest when visiting. You are "their" guest and they know how to show it. Management is very present here as well. You will see Ed, the Restaurant Manag... Read more

Very nice hotel in downtown Houston. Staff was especially efficient and friendly. Bar and restaurant were attractive. Rooms were quiet and well appointed but small. Bathroom had a nice shower but it too was small for two people. Easy for travel if you are looking for a quiet, convenient place to stay.

Just spent a lovely weekend at this downtown, hidden gem. It's a bit off the beaten path from other hotels, but the location is a short walking distance to clubs, bars, and downtown attractions. The room was clean, quiet and beautiful. Staff was attentive and the hotel is dog friendly. Didn't get a chance to eat at the hotel restaurant but the menu looked good. Did try the bar which was a nice escape.

We decided to stay downtown after a show in Houston instead of driving back home to Sugar Land. When making reservations HIlton had a great deal on rooms and very beneficial it happened to be a block from show. The hotel is an older building that was refurbished very nicely. It was in walking distance also. Everything was clean and neat.

I stayed here one night to see a show and attend a party in town. The Curio is nicely situated and the Jones Hall was a short walk away. I stayed here for a week for work. I prefer to stay away from the financial district so that I can walk to and from restaurants, and there plenty within walking distance and varying budgets. If you venture too far, it can get a little creepy. When I asked the concierge if there was a drugstore within walking distance to purchase snacks and water, a driver from the hotel took me. After flying for 5 hours I wanted to have dinner at the hotel and not go out. I went to the restaurant that was open and empty. I waited 5-10 minutes for someone, anyone to seat me at a table! Nobody ever showed up! I went to the bar that was open, nobody there either. There was not even a bar tender! Found all the staff from the restaurant and bar having a good time at the front desk! The Sam is a clean, fashionable hotel right in the heart of downtown. Very convenient to the business needs and also the Astros stadium, Minute Maid Park. I've stayed there for both business and with my family for Astros games, and always been pleased. Good room service menu with quick service, and a comfortable lobby for sitting if you don't want to be in the room.

I stayed just one night, but really loved my room. The king bed was comfortable, surprisingly large closet with safe in it, and the bathroom was huge. It has a large tiled shower (no bathtub) and plenty of room in it. The room had 2 windows (one in the bathroom, one in the room) which allow for plenty of natural lighting. The hotel is unique, well situated in the historic district, close to great food. The rooms are well appointed. The bartender Rena is skilled and friendly. Downside- the hotel smells bad- the lobby in particular smelled like the door to a public washroom was open somewhere. Also, for the price you pay, water should be free but they wanted $3-$4 a bottle for it in the room, even if you are a HH Member, and that is not okay in a place as hot and sticky as Houston.

The hotel was beautiful. I was a wonderful stay the accommodations were great and the people were incredibly nice. Parking was a slight issue. That was the only fault I could find as well as finding help up to my room with some of my baggage.

Rooms (and bathrooms) are renovated and modern. Restaurant was being renovated when I was there, but the bar staff (serving from a limited menu) was very helpful. Overall staff was excellent and helped make the stay good. I particularly appreciated the complimentary van service to convention center and other nearby sites.

Hotel is a Hilton brand hotel. Room was very nice but small. Mattress and pillows were very comfortable. Room and bathroom were very clean. Outside Entry into hotel needs some work. Tile and cement broken up. Was expecting to have coffee available in the afternoon in the lobby but was only present in the morning. Fruit in the lobby was only available in the morning. Staff were helpful with recommendations and directions. The shuttle was always available within a few minute wait. One item I had a... Read more

This hotel was nice enough, was clean, in walking distance of many great bars and restaurants. Unfortunately the staff was rude, slow, and unhelpful. They did not have room ready with extras I ordered prior to arrival. In addition, the front desk was rude and unapologetic for all the mistakes that occurred over the weekend.

This is Hilton's attempt at a boutique hotel in an historic building, but they are out of their league. Kimpton knows how to do this very well. They need to fix the tile work in the entrance and get the restaurant up and running--should not be offline for more than a few weeks.

The hotel was very nice. Room layout and design exceeded my expectation. Staff extremely friendly and attentive. No complaints, got what I paid for! I would not hesitate to stay at this hotel again in the future.

Staff went out of their way to be friendly and helpful. Room was comfortable and nicely decorated. The bar served food with a limited menu: food was good but the service was a little slow. Convenient to many downtown locations and a nice feature of a free shuttle service to and from (with a tip of course) local restaurants.

Dirty bedsheets with holes in it, hair in the shower. Water bottles for purchase already opened and half empty. Doormen were nice, breakfast was good. Room was modern, but not clean. During the night you can hear the train.

As a frequent leisure traveler, I personally welcome staying at boutique hotels enjoying the intimacy, history, and congeniality of the staff. The Sam Houston met most of these criteria and certainly impressed in the staff's affability, but failed miserably in the cleanliness of the bedrooms! The beds had fleas! We moved from that room to another and those beds had fleas, too! We then moved to a different hotel. The manager was extremely understanding and handled the situation in a profession... Read more
