Luxury was the theme, and it was present in every aspect and element related to our stay. We loved the view (we were asked what view we wanted at check in!), we loved the food, and we felt like the atmosphere was undersold if anything! Be aware that valet service is necessary and a bit pricey.

Great staff and beautiful vertical lobby. Parking is about $36 and like the Hyatt Regency in Galleria it's valet only. Try parking on street for free on Sunday or feed meters. Shula's is a super high dollar steak house but vic and Anthony's is believe it or not cheaper, better, and near by. Great idea having Einstein's Bagels in the lobby 247!! The staff there is a great group of people as well. Had a 5 star experience at a 4 star establishment. Check in was easy as well. Upgraded to a 2 room su... Read more

I am used to Hyatt having higher quality that's all. The issues I faced where: Breakfast was very small and limited. No free or validated parking, only an extremely expensive self park or 15$ valet. No business centre, just a FedEx which charges 40c per minute!! For a pc Gym has a good size but not well equipped and very badly organised. My room, as many other face a huge gray wall Shower was very low, nose level at best. On the positive side, There are plenty of elevators so the wait ... Read more

The Hyatt has a lot going for it in terms of location and two really good restaurants. Spindletop in the evening as the sun goes down is a great experience while if you like good steaks, Shulas is tough to beat. The rooms are spacious and importantly the bed is very comfortable.

Was here for a conference so my company paid for it. Very expensive otherwise. Hotel was nice. Has the typical Hyatt Atrium with neat architecture. Several bars and restaurants to choose from in the hotel. Room was nice. Parking is outrageous here at $20/day. There are a few restaurants close to the hotel but its in a pretty business park like area of downtown. Hotel has nice meeting spaces for conferences. We stayed at the Hyatt over a weekend. Service is good. We were on the 28 floor. Rooms were quiet and updated. Pool is outside on the 6 floor. I used the exercise room in the basement. They had a good choice of machines. There are 2 restaurants in the hotel and a bagel shop open 24 hours a day. It was about a 10 minute walk to the convention center. We tried Shulas which I would recommend for sandwiches. Shulas is located on the main floor.

My husband and I are native Houstonians living in Brooklyn. For our wedding, we wanted to give our guests the most authentically Houston-esque event possible. When we researched hotels downtown, we knew there was no other option for us: it was the Hyatt all the way. The beauty of the hotel goes without saying, but anyone considering staying at the Hyatt (and recommending it to their guests) should also know that the managers (we worked with Carolyn and Brandon) and staff (shoutout to Jordan and ... We spent 5 nights here for the Elks Grand Lodge Convention. The hotel was very clean, the staff were very helpful and courteous. The restaurants were great. I do have a few suggestions for the hotel. There were 15+ states staying at the hotel. It would have been nice to have a complimentary light breakfast included in our rate. It also would have been nice if the bar opened earlier than 3pm. It would have been a profitable 5+ days for the hotel. Another negative, the parking rates. $32 per day o... Read more

I was there for a convention for 6 nights. When they have high occupancy like for the convention, the elevators cannot keep up with the demand. At times the line was backed up to Louisiana Street to board the elevators. When there is a line, there is two ways to access the elevator bank and many people were skipping the line. The hotel was typical for Houston, with rude staff (valets were great), outrageously priced food, and long wait times for the elevator. A typical 5 star downtown hotel; expensive parking, large lobby, hotel designed around the atrium, and everything feels clean yet not squeaky clean because of the hotel's age. I stayed here on a layover on Christmas Eve so understandably the area was absolutely dead. I was jetlagged having flown 16 hours from DXB on a day flight and so the 24 hours coffee shop was a good thing.

No sweetener for coffee or tea. Had to leave the room and went to hotel customer service. Asked for sweetner and was told to get it from the Einstein Bagle store on hotel property instead of from the hotel. Atrium design allows noise from all over hotel to be heard in room making sleep difficult.

Great hotel and location, I have stayed here several times for various events over the years. There are lot's of amenities in the hotel such as Shula's Steakhouse and Einstein's Bagel shop and close to great restaurants and bars on Main Street and not far from the same in Midtown.

The hotel is large and nice. Comfortable bed. Wonderful, large tv. Friendly help. Bath could use some updates. Quiet, large room with nice couch. Can walk to a few restaurants and theater district. Lacks shopping. Took metro to museum district was easy and cheap $1.25 each way.

Whenever I have business in Houston that requires an overnight stay downtown, the Hyatt is my go-to hotel. Rooms are clean, spacious and quiet and the food service at Shula's is excellent. You also have easy access to the pedestrian tunnel system that runs underneath downtown Houston. That is especially nice during the hot, humid weather Houston is know for.

We spend the night there even though we live in Houston because we went to a relative wedding across the street from the Hyatt Regency. Even though the rate was high (AARP) $179 per night, we did not sleep well because rooms are open faced all to the Lobby. We could hear people talking at all times. Parking is too high on top of this huge rate $36.00 per night! No regrigerator in the room either and we had to go to the Lobby to get Splenda because we did not have this nor regular sugar in th... Recently stayed at the Hyatt, downtown Houston. Great experience. Staff, food, service - first class all the way. I would go out of my way to stay at this establishment. Last, make a point of eating at Shula's, which is located in the hotel. Warm, welcoming and friendly. Best steak ever! Best service! Nice people! You'll leave happy, happy.

I often stay in this hotel when I need to stay inside the loop. Overall, nice decorated hotel. Rooms a little dated; it can use some remodeling. Food is good. However, some staff in the food service can have a really sour attitude, especially at the 24 hour food court; also, some staff members at the front desk seem to not care when reporting an issue. In this particular property, management does seem to be indifferent to customers' concerns. GM never available, and it does answer emails.

I needed to fly out early so and needed a place close by that also offered a shuttle bus to and from the airport. This hotel is exactly what I needed. For a Hyatt Regency, it may not be the best but it is clean, comfortable with really nice staff. Sure the hotel need to be updated but not really that bad. Didn't get a chance to eat in their restaurant. I will make this my go to hotel when I'm flying out of Houston.

Really good hotel with great service. Comfortable room with comfy beds and large bathroom. The swimming pool was lovely. The lobby shop has good cofffee and food options plus gifts. I would suggest having a cardigan or wrap for sitting in lobby though as my party found it very chilly. Air con is set very low - not really a bad negative though.

We stayed at the Hyatt Regency to see the symphony in Houston. The overall hotel is great and in a perfect location for being downtown. With that said, the service and staff has some opportunities for improvement. We forgot our toothbrushes and called the front desk for help (twice in one evening). I stayed at the Hyatt Regency for three nights over a weekend while attending a convention. The room was pretty good. The TV was very nice quality, 55" Full HD, with a panel on the wall for attaching video inputs. Hyatt's Gold loyalty program recently became extremely unforgiving. I've stayed at Hyatt hotels in Houston and internationally sporadically--but sometimes for long stretches. Because Hyatt has a much smaller presence worldwide than Marriott or Hilton, I put 26 months between Hyatt visits. Hyatt wiped out my prior points and closed my account at 24 months. I liked the Houston Downtown Hyatt and have stayed there a half dozen times. But my relationship with Hyatt is now ended.

If you don't want to drink and drive, get a room or catch one of the numerous cabs waiting for you outside! I'm not one for large crowds, but have no problem going here to celebrate. It's a classy crowd and everyone is very friendly. Once you attend, you will be back again and again!
