Stayed here the night before a cruise. Nice location being one block off The Strand. The hotel was clean and modern. One disappointment was that our room was facing an alley were we could see graffiti. I guess we didn't stay here for the view. The rooftop lounge was very nice for a few drinks. Nice view of Galveston. For the kids, there is no pool on site but there is a free shuttle to the sister hotel that has a pool. Take note that this is not a good hotel for families with kids as the ameniti... Read more

The Tremont House in the historic Strand district in Galveston is a very nice property to stay at. Its location and historic beauty make this a truly rewarding place to stay. The Strand district is wonderful to explore and enjoy and The Tremont House is poised in the perfect location for that. The rooms are well appointed and spacious and the hotel decor is very nice. The Main Bar is magnificent and well run with Jazz on the weekend nights. The negatives are few but there. A little pricey for th... Read more

Nice hotel but we were assigned an extremely tiny room with no outside window. We could not be moved to a more comfortable room, as we were told that the hotel was full. If I stay there again, I will inquire as to the size, type, quality of the room before signing on the dotted line.

This is a wonderful hotel in a great location downtown. If you are looking for beachside, then this is not the right place. It is located near the Strand in the central district, where there are great restaurants and coffee shops and shops all around. Also near the port area. But the main public beach is on the other side of the island (maybe a mile or so). Historic and very comfortable upper tier luxury hotel, really nice rooftop bar.

We have stayed at the Tremont a few times and love this location. The hotel is beautiful and has charming character that newer properties lack. We valet the car and walk everywhere we want to go in the Strand district with many options for food and shopping. Rudy and Paco is only about 4 blocks away and is always on our list of places to eat when we visit Galveston. The rooftop bar is awesome with great views of the island. The Tremont lacks spa facilities but they are available at the Galv... Read more

This was our first time staying here and it was fantastic. The staff is very friendly, the bar area is very laid back and the cafe is pretty good too. Room service was great and reasonably priced at that. The location is in the heart of the historic Strand District where there are lots of shops and restaurants within walking distance. The hotel provides a free shuttle to the Hotel Galvez which is basically on the beach. This was also a great surprise and very helpful. You won't regret your... Read more

The hotel is located in historic downtown area, and very convenient to many restaurants, bars and shopping in walking distance. This hotel is very charming! The room key is shaped as a real key, not a prastic card! The room was very unique and spacious too. The bed was firm and comfortable. My favorite thing was heated towel hangers that keep your towels warm all the time! The room gives you two bottles of complementary water bottles. Stayed here a few days after Memorial Weekend. We had a wonderful time Room was very nice and quiet. Shower was great and bed was comfortable. Location is terrific for walking the Strand. The staff is excellent. Everyone is friendly, from the valet with the car to the front desk staff to the maid in the hall. Everyone says hello and asks if they can help you. Wonderful place to stay. Tall ceilings ( I mean really tall), brick walls, wood floors, marble bath room, good furniture, very nostalgic! We really enjoyed our visit even if I made a mistake on my dates. They upgraded me to a suite, I guess I can only complain about me making the wrong date. Good staff.

We really enjoyed our stay at Tremont House. Our family of four booked a king suite, while our family members booked the adjoining king standard. It was wonderful to use the living room part of our suite after the children went to bed to visit longer into the night. Only downside was our tub didn't drain well. We'd stay here again.

Beautifully decorated, and an oh so comfy bed and individual thermostat that we kept cranked to an icy 68 at night because it's a vacation dammit. The room was spacious and with a very relaxing modern retro vibe. Big closet, huge vanity in the bathroom, oh and did I mention the gigantic King size bed? Because it was HUGE. The staff was incredibly nice from the valets to housekeepers. Valet parking was a little expensive but there's not many options in downtown Galveston. I don't recommend the ca... Read more

The Tremont is one of those hotels my wife had always wanted to stay in so, with a Travelzoo offer, we went for a little anniversary getaway. Although the room was small, it was very nice, with a very comfortable bed, and appeared to be recently renovated. The parking valets were very efficient and helpful and the rest of the staff was very friendly. The rooftop bar was OK, but highly overrated and overpriced with not much of a view. I wanted to add a review for the Tremont House Hotel in Galveston. Although the hotel is very nice, it is definitely over priced for the service. I left my jacket laying on the bed and we walked out on check out day, I did not notice I was missing the jacket for a week. Once I called to see if they had it, since I was certain I had left it laying on the bed, it took 3 days to get an answer out of someone. They did not tell they had my jacket until my husband and I had made 4 phone calls over 3 d... Read more

I travelled to the Tremont house for the fourth time in April where I stayed with my wife for a long weekend getaway from the children. We had a wonderful time. We've had some missteps at other Wyndham properties on the island, one of which ended in a voucher for a stay at the Tremont. Hotel was great. Room very, very clean. Loved the hotel location and did not mind going to the Hotel Galvez for using the pool one afternoon. We felt this hotel was a way better option then the Galvez! The valets were great and very attentive. Also, we we enjoyed the live jazz in the evenings and the roof top bar was great!

I stayed at this hotel for 4th of July weekend. The hotel is open and modern. It has a rooftop bar and they play music in the lobby. Also, you can access the amenities at their sister property, the hotel Galvez, which we utilized the pool.

I recently stayed one night for business and was pleasantly surprised at the level of luxury provided by this hotel. The hotel itself is historic and full of old charm and character, but it affords modern conveniences and amenities. The bar is beautiful and well stocked; the cafe was perfect for a quick breakfast before our meetings. The rooms were beautiful with high ceilings and large windows (not much of a few from certain rooms - but we weren't there for the view). The bathrooms are very mod... Read more

My husband and I were there for a weekend getaway. The room was very comfortable and the staff so very helpful. We were able to walk to our restaurant for lunch and dinner. The beachfront was about a 5 minute drive away. We enjoyed the jazz on Friday night and the sunset from the rooftop bar. What a lovely weekend. We did not have a pet but pets are welcome.

We enjoyed our Tremont Hotel night which was conveniently located to Pier 21 activities, the Stand, and all local entertainment venues. The staff was very nice helpful and courteous. It was a plus to be able to use the Hotel Galvaz pool and amenities without the higher room rate. You can park along the street and pay meter parking which is charged $1.50 per hour but free from 6:00 PM - 9:00 AM. The only negative was a couple of breakfast trays and a used drink glass sitting in the hallway... Read more

Living in Houston, Galveston is a short car ride away so we decided last minute to spend the night on the island. The Tremont House was a nice surprise with very spacious rooms, close proximity to everything on the Strand (and only a very short car ride away to Pleasure Pier/Beach) & super friendly staff. Would definitely stay here again.

A historic hotel with great attention to detail. The staff is wonderful. The rooms are immaculate and there is jazz band in the lounge on the weekends. It is close to the Strand Historic District. It is a great place to stay to enjoy the island away from all the crowds along the beach.

If you like historic hotels, with good service, this is it. Valet parking is easiest, not much street parking and it's pay, so might as well use the valet. Decent cafe for breakfast with good but limited selections. They did make accommodations for gluten free. Beds were nice, with good pillows. Nicely appointed rooms. The Tremont house is not your ordinary hotel experience! The building, rooms, and lobby etc have so much character! (Not to be confused with "old.") Tremont atmosphere is classy, grand, beautiful, nostalgic with all updated details (light dimmers, excellent lighting for applying make up at bathroom vanity, electronic "old fashion" key, automatic light upon opening closet) in rooms that many modern hotels lack while keeping its charm (classic wood floors, ornate door knobs, super tall ceilings) ... Everything was almost perfect, except the tiny commodes. I notice a lot of + sized people in the hotel and if they had commodes like we did in Room 418, they had to struggle. I think the hotel must have gotten a big discount on these tiny commodes when they remodeled after Hurricane Ike in 2010. Staff were great, food was wonderful, hotel is simply beautiful. Two chairs and a desk would have been great for room service.

The bath room had heat lamps which I thought was a great touch. The bar upstairs was nice but we retreated back to the A/C. You do have to buy breakfast but man the serving was huge and delicious. I came in very late at 2:30 AM. Not being from Galveston I had no idea where to park so I asked for valet. I told them my situation and that I was leaving at 7AM for an interview at UTMB. The valet, selflessly gave up his own parking spot at the front of the hotel so I could park there. He told me it wouldn't be worth the $18 for my "nap". What exceptional service! I wish I could have spent more time there. The hotel was BEAUTIFUL. It takes you back to the 1900s during Galveston's heyday.
