This hotel was designed to be one of the top hotels in Galveston and still holds the distinction after 30-something years. The staff is well-trained, courteous and attentive. The room cost on a Saturday night was very expensive at over $350 but only $45 on Sunday night. Cruise ship customers often come down early for Sunday departures giving these hotels reason to hike prices. The room itself was nice, but we had a chair that belongs in the dump or should be recovered. Whatever the case, it did ... Read more

The San Luis Resort is mine and my husband's favorite place to stay in Texas. The staff is very detail oriented to make sure every part of your stay is exactly how you want it to be. The spa is a dream and offers a wide variety of beauty treatments and massage. We have stayed at this resort multiple times over the past few years and we have always enjoyed our whole stay. The food is delicious, every inch of the resort is beautifully kept, and the environment is fun and relaxing with attentive an... Read more

Excellent service by Mr. Baback Moradi. He saw to our every need, spoiled us rotten, and did everything with a smile on his face! He went above and beyond any level of service I have ever received at any other hotel I have visited! Staying at the Villas is a pricey treat, but I'm hear to tell you - it was worth every penny! Service and attention to detail is second to none!!! 5 stars to Mr. Moradi for making our visit so memorable and perfect!!!!!!

This was our first visit to the San Luis. Galveston has been a familiar destination to us in years growing up in Texas, but after decades of living away in Arizona we were returning with fresh eyes and many memories to revive. Our arrival was in the afternoon, in the middle of a non-holiday week in May, prior to most schools being out; appearance of valet and reception desk seemed to confirm our assumptions of a probable hassle free, quick registration. This did not prove to be the case. We w... Read more

It took 3 calls to get fixed they said they would give me a free nigh voucher and its been 3 months since I booked and still havent received the coupon Stay somewhere else not worth the high price they charge.

If you were visiting on vacation and you were looking for a beachfront hotel in Galveston it would be hard to do better. The frontage is impressive and there is valet parking available ($19 per night though). The entrance and lobby are in the four star category and the staff friendly and efficient. There is a nice spa /fitness center and a couple of restaurants (Steakhouse and Italian) that look very good. The bar pool area is a fun spot with loud music playing late into the night if that is ... Read more

I chose the San Luis as the destination to celebrate a special achievement based on other reviews of this location. I can say this destination is a site to behold. The moment we arrived we were met by the friendly hotel staff, everyone was very welcoming and eager to help make this a truly special stay. I must say within 10 minutes of being inside the resort I met Kathleen, a VERY friendly and warm member of the Housekeeping staff. She was very helpful in her explanation of the resort once s... Have stayed here multiple times. It's on the pricey end but a great hotel. Every room has a view of the Gulf. This time we were on the 6th floor that has an obstructed view. The pool area is great and very nice and kid friendly but also has an adult only area. The bar has swim up seating. Cabanas are available to rent which we have done in the past but are pricey. The room is comfortable.

We each booked rooms on the top 2 ??VIP?? floors for 3 nights. The property is old, but well-maintained. The staff is very friendly. Many rooms were not ready when we arrived at 4:30-5 (check-in time is 4pm) which we quickly realized was the norm. Some guests were offered champagne. When I got to my room I noticed the AC was not up to par. I lowered the temp only to return later that evening to the same ??kinda cool?? room. We have always wanted to stay at this resort, and we were not disappointed. Service was excellent. The pool was heated and was the perfect place to get a tan. We stayed on the Club Ten floor, which is adults only, since we left the kids with grandparents. Our room was nice. We got a "Suite", but their definition of suite is not the same as my definition. I still really enjoyed it, though! The view was amazing. There was a broken fixture in the bathroom, and that was the only real "flaw" in the room. My family has been staying at the San Luis Resort for about 20 years now. I have to say there seems to be something "not right" more frequently than in times past. We stayed a month or so ago in a VIP room on the 15th floor. It was recently renovated with neutral colors and seemed to be in good shape. The mattress was decent as well. Well I went to check in at the Hilton and the staff there were very nice, if not a little overwhelmed it seemed. Anyway, they were all out of non-smoking King rooms like the one I reserved, so they sent me to their reportedly more upscale sister hotel (the San Luis) which is billed as a luxury hotel. Well for the price I paid for the Hilton, the San Luis was an ok deal, but luxury hotel would be a real stretch of any imagination. Our stay was incredible at the San Luis Resort! We went to celebrate our anniversary, and were met with free valet, champagne, and an amazing breakfast in bed each morning. The Club 10 was very much worth the price, and the view from our room was breathtaking. The only complaint I have was the lack of a mini fridge in our room. Pool area was very nice, albeit slightly crowded (to be expected on the Fourth of July weekend). There were more than enough staff members, which really made the stay in... Read more

We stayed at The San Luis last week for 3 nights. It was a complete turn-around from our last visit. Actually after the last stay we vowed never book another room at the resort. But we reversed our decision and glad we did. The club level suite was spotless and well appointed. The resort has always had the best views, but the service was lacking for what you pay. The service now matches the view. We dined at the Steakhouse, Grottos and Blake's Bistro. All were great with service to match. My w... Read more

It was a fine location and very affordable, but I would not come here for a luxury experience. Rooms were adequate but dated and smallish, service at the front desk.... I can only say there was a line of 5-10 people at any given time. And a little surprise: the shower was not working at all in the room we were in. This was discovered in the morning when the entire family lined up for a shower. The hotel eventually fixed the issue by 2 pm with multiple calls to the front desk. We were stuck in th... Read more

Great room with balcony ocean view, sumptuous free breakfast ordered in, hours at the pool's adult-area swim-up bar with good food, close for a walk on the beach. There was noise from loud people going up and down the halls in the middle of the night (we don't blame the hotel for other people). We definitely plan to stay again, but will request a room farther down the hall.

We had the condo on the upper flour and it was amazing. The view was breathtaking!! We had a large room and living room with a kitchen, one and a lalf bathroom and a walk in closet. The kitchen was fully equipped with pots, pans, plates, cutlery and all. I really loved and enjoyed my stay here, looking forward to going back.

I stayed here for a work trip last week. I called the day before to request a fridge be placed in my room. Upon arrival there was no fridge. I had to call 3 times (and was called back once) to get the fridge and it took roughly an hour. There was an incident with another one of the people I work with and I asked at check out that the ma... Read more

The San Luis was one of the host hotels. My experience here was top of the line between the valet service, restaurant, but especially the staff. Iris, at the front desk, took the time to make my check in such a pleasant experience....among the craziness of a major conference, & the chaos of so many Realtors arriving at the same time, I can not thank her enough! Everything was exceptional and I was very impressed.

I booked a romantic package for my wife and I for our anniversary, also it was my birthday is well. So this vacation and stay was very important to me. The San Luis resort had a few hiccups within the package but the concierge Jennifer saved our celebration and kept my frustrations to it minimum if you're planning to act on the packages that the hotel has to offer, jennifer is the go to person , although all of the staff were extremely friendly. The property is beautiful and right across from th... Read more

I just got back from the San Luis were i stayed from Tue-Fri. This was my first time in Galveston, and i was there for a Conference. The San Luis Resort was great. I was there early and was able to check in right away. I was warned that there was construction going on on the floor above me. When i got to my room it felt like they were drilling right above me and it was super noisy. So I went downstairs and asked for a room above the construction a higher floor. The front desk was great and did n... Read more
