Went down prior to cruise. I understand this is a pet friendly hotel, we found dried up (dog) poop under the muggy AC unit. Short dark Hairs on the white bed linens (dog or people don't care to know!) Large Roaches crawled across the floor and went behind the TV stand. Went to complain about this and got moved from the 3rd floor to a 1st floor suite. The suite was clean, no sign of bugs, hair, or poop. I wouldn't be doing this review if the first room was clean in the first place. The fact th... Read more

Hotel is located just close enough to Galveston's attractions, but just far enough away for a quiet relaxing evening. Beach front is just a short walk away,The Pleasure Pier is just over an hour walk. Great way to save on parking, and live up to the cliche, " long walks on the beach". Great stay, excellent breakfast, and great housekeeping/staff

Older hotel, needs minor repairs. A busy road separated us from the beach...reminded me of an old game of froggy. Near lots of restaurants, Wal-Mart, Target, and small shops, if you're on a tight budget you would probably be happy here, it's clean and comfortable. Breakfast is free. Covered parking garage under building. I left a night gown in the room, when I came back to get it, they said they didn't have it.

I have stayed at this location over the last 10 years a number of times. Unfortunately, as with many "gold-plated items," this one has lost its shine and is showing its brassiness. The front counter people either "don't know" or "don't know," in regards to asking for a manager, a question about the island, or a question about the services the hotel offers. It was having an update the second to last time I was there, and when I returned 6 months later...it still needed an update. The maintenance ... Read more

This is what I wrote to the hotel. When I walked into the Hotel, there was a very overwhelming smell of a "plug in" fragrance. When you smell something like that you wonder what the hotel is hiding. Walked into my room, it had a very strong odor of "old, musty, wet" It is hard to explain. Turned on the TV and it did not work. I called the front desk and they sent up a person to see what was wrong. When I came back to the room later, it was fixed. Now for the bathroom. There was no soap or s... Read more

The rooms were clean and very nice sized. We had a balcony that we could see the ocean from. And as always... pet friendly which is very important to us. The woman at the front desk was very nice and very welcoming. And just right across the street from the beach and one of the fishing piers.

The whole hotel smelled like mold and I would not stop sneezing, sheets had pet hair, there was trash still in the room from pervious guest, excessive dust on curtains, bed frames, the side tables were sticky. I could not believe how poor the hotel was maintained for the price range the rooms go for. I will never stay there again.

We were flying in and had a weather delay. Called at 6PM 4 time to inform late checkin of 8PM. Never answered the phone. Staff at checkin rude were rude as if we were an inconvenience. Very poorly dressed staff. Hotel is in poor repair. Confirmed why I stay at a Hilton at least 10 nights a month. But hey on the bright side the room was clean persay. The internet worked fine. Tiny TV worked. They did have a breakfast. Last minute reservation no choice....

This little gem is located in central Galveston, close to all the action. It is very clean and the staff is friendly. It is across the street from the beach, making access very easy. It is beach front, not beach view - just to clarify. We really enjoyed our room with a jet tub - nice touch.

We just checked up into this hotel. We asked for room on 3- d floor and very nice receptionist on front desk gave it to us. We like our room: it is big size. Hotel is in central location, walking distance to restaurants and few steps a way from beach. Hotel has nice jacuzzi and swimming pool. So far we like it!

Thought it was a little pricey for the condition of the hotel however it was mid summer. You had to walk a little ways to the beach however it was close to a fishing pier and movie theatre. Breakfast was good. Pool was nice however too small for summer crowd.

Hotel smelled of mold and water damage! Front desk reported sprinklers went off earlier in the week. Property had commercial fans attempting to dry carpets and walls. Had to go buy candles to burn to sit and sleep comfortably in the room. Property needs to replace carpets, want stay again due to consider with mold damage.

Not only did the room smell like mildew but the carpet in the room made my feet black after walking on it for a few minutes. The elevator only worked now and then and when it did work the temperature inside of it was unbearable and the elevator speed was set to turtle. I'm a gold member and I refuse to use this La Quinta again.

The bigger the beds the LESS room you have. Literally smallest room I've ever been in. It's summer, make sure the AC works at least half of what it should. Paid 600 for a hotel that was worth 250. Will not be returning to this location at all!!! Paid extra for a damn view and a balcony. Yeah the only thing I could "view" was the hotel next door. False advertisement for this specific location!

Other than the lobby the hotel was great, they hads fans blowing and it was loud and hot. They had good service both in the check-in and checking out. Our room was clean and tidy, and felt like a real premium room at a good price. The rooms view of the pier and shore was also rather enjoyable. I will stay there again for certain.

The property is conveniently located along the Seawall though there is minimal to no beach in front of the hotel. Our room was clean and up-to-date (though one of the beds sagged VERY badly) but the lobby and corridors seem to be undergoing renovations with loud fans buzzing constantly and some unpleasant odors wafting through the air from time to time. The pool was also very crowded while open. Breakfast is the standard La Quinta buffet. Hotel serves it's purpose well but is not a standout.

Before walking in, had a musty odor and lots of fans going. Continued in the lobby and all down the hall and on all the floors. Was told they are renovating. Not cool when you are still booking rooms. The room size is nice. We had King suite with couch. If you want a room with a balcony, they are small balconies and they don't face the seawall so no purpose in that. The breakfast was good and they didn't run out. We had friends next door at Holiday Day and that hotel has a lot nicer look and sme... Read more

This hotel is undergoing some serious renovations. The hallways towards the front of the hotel were sealed off, but there was a nauseating smell throughout the hallways. I had a room in the back, where it was tolerable if you use the back stairs. The room was clean, comfortable and did not smell. I reserved a room with a balcony, and I guess they almost all have balconies, but I had a terrible view of the back of another hotel and some rundown homes - no view of the gulf. This hotel was over priced and is being renovated, Areas of the hotel are very Hot and smell bad. The hotel rooms are not very clean, we found animals crawling all over our curtains when we opened them in the morning. The mattresses were super hard, pillows were old and we couldn't even enjoy the patio because our window unit was leaking all over the patio.

Hotel is remodeling and AC is out in halls, elevator, and was poor in our room, even at night. If this doesn't bother you, and you just need a place to lay your head at night, then.... We will check back in the future to see if things are better. The staff was okay, friendlier on check-in, and responsive when told we only had the roll of toilet paper on the roll, no extra and no Kleenex.

As an LQ member that has stayed at numerous LQ sites around the country, this was very disappointing and overpriced for several reasons. Major renovations throughout the property both inside and outside were very inconvenient. Our room was next to the construction area of our hallway. Very loud and hot. Barking dogs all night long from several rooms in the hallway. Too many dogs on the property and at the pool. Elevators that didn't work some of the time. I actually used Reward points for 1 nigh... We were not aware of the construction when we booked this room. The room/bedding was not clean and one towel had dirt all over it. There was a gap of about 2 inches under the door leading to the hallway. The worst part however, was the customer service. The clerk charged my credit and debit cards the full amount of the room plus an additional charge for half (which is what I should have been charged as I was splitting the room with a friend). For $600 for 2 nights this was not worth the stay. Not only did the hotel smell in the lobby but the rooms as well. The rooms/bathrooms were dirty. The elevators didnt work well. We would put the floor we wanted to go and it would take us to the parking garage 2 times then the 1st floor and get stuck, it smelt like it was burning. I wished I could get my money back. This was a horrible experience and by far the worst La Quinta I have EVER stayed at.

After booking a family suite at this location, I was shocked to show up and see the ceiling missing in the reception/dining area, along with fans lined up down the hall to remove moisture. We checked in a little before 4pm and notified the front desk about 4:15 that the A/C units were both rattling badly. Approximately an hour later a young man from housekeeping showed up saying that all of the maintenance people were gone. He agreed the A/C units were very noisy and suggested we get another ... I stay in La Quinta's all of the time and this one was by far one of the worst! They were renovating some of the floors because of flooding this year or last. The rooms that were being rented out were on one of the floor's being renovated. It was a noisy hotel because there were gaps around the doors. The one inch gap at the bottom especially let in a lot of noise. After I checked my room and asked to change due to surrounding noisy people, the young woman up front acted like I had asked for the... Read more

At this time the hotel is under a major reconstruction/renovation so I'm attributing some of the problems to that. Check-in was easy and the young lady was very helpful. Our room was on the third floor where apparently there had been a sprinkler problem. Part of the floor was closed off for repairs but we never heard any noise from there. I'm sure this property will be up to LaQuinta standards soon - but they are renovating it right now - so don't expect perfection. Our room was on par - and the A/C was cold. The office and housekeeping staff was courteous. Nice rest at night - this property is further down the seawall - so much of the traffic and noise remains to the North of the island. We will stay here again - after the improvements are complete.
