The hotel is conveniently located next to wal-mart and far enough off the highway to prevent hearing the traffic. Front desk lady when checking in was very nice and helpful in getting us a room on the ground floor. The lady working the night shift when we left at 3 a.m. refused to speak to us and I made several attempts at polite conversation. I asked since it was 3 a.m. could i please grab coffee and a muffin out of the breakfast area and all she could do was shake her head. The rooms were dust... Read more

This was a good place to stay on a return to DFW area from Santa Fe. The hotel's location is a little spooky, on the very western edge of town, off by itself. You drive through a shopping center parking lot, then away, to get there. The WiFi worked very well, and the breakfast, especially the hot cinnamon rolls, was excellent. A small minus was the elevator, which may be the slowest elevator ever encountered in a fairly new hotel building. Complimentary USA Today was appreciated. We'd stay... Read more

Really nice hotel right next to a Wal-Mart and had a great breakfast and hot swimming pool. Vending machine would not work at all and that is something that needs to be working. Really fast wifi and flat screen tv.

We stayed one night. We got a King studio suite which included a sofa and two additional chairs. The bed was very comfortable and the breakfast had plenty of variety. It didn't get 5 stars because one side of the bed had no nightstand; there was an easy chair almost touching the bed. Also, our fridge was not cool. I would definitely stay here again.

We stopped here to spend the night during our cross- country move. We were so tired and hungry! Fortunately, we had called to reserve 2 rooms a few hours before arriving in Childress. We needed lots of room to park our moving truck. The lady told us they had plenty of space in the parking lot since they had lots of vacancies and that parking wouldn't be a problem. Not sure what happened, the weather changed, it was warm and sunny, then a winter storm came in, maybe that's why the rooms fill... Read more

We only stayed here for one night, heading home to Louisiana from New Mexico. We thought the price was reasonable and Childress is about halfway home. To get to the hotel, turn in at the Walmart entrance and then just go right. You'll see the road leading to the Holiday Inn Express lot. The facilities are pretty new as of this date. Accommodations were excellent with a comfortable and clean room and a truly great breakfast in the morning. We were happy to find a place this nice for this pr... Read more

Very clean, soft beds, fluffy pillows. Staff was pleasant and professional. Breakfast was good and well stocked. It is a little hard to find the entrance(you have to enter through the Walmart parking lot. I highly recommend.

We arrived and had bikes to store - no problem! The staff helped us store them the luggage area! Staff helped us with local restaurant recommendations. Room was great! Clean and quiet. Breakfast was fine. Good service nice room! Liked it! Overall value was well worth it.

You can always count on quality at HIR, but an entrance sign would be nice and a educated entrance would be good, also. You have to through the Walmart parking lot and figure out where the entrance is. Otherwise, a clean comfortable place to stay.

The staff was friendly and helpful, especially at the breakfast center. Also, when there was a concern with the bathroom condition, the staff noted it. The price was I felt a little high for that area of west Texas, but then hotel prices have become so high across the board!

This is a great stop over, clean, quiet, pet friendly, nice staff. Breakfast was hot and good. Walmart's parking lot is adjacent next to this inn. In fact one must travel through the parking lot to find the drive to this inn, that part is a bit confusing.

This was our last hotel stay of a 10 day road trip vacation. This was the only holiday inn express that we stayed in out of the 10 different hotels and I have to say it was our best. The beds were the most comfortable that we slept in the entire trip! Room was very clean and the breakfast was great too. Would def stay here again if in the area.

We always stay here on the way home from Breckenridge to Dallas. Pet friendly and very clean. Rooms are well appointed and the service here is exemplary; we have never been disappointed. The breakfast here is free and very well done. Eggs, pancakes, bread choices, fruit, yogurt, cereal, juice and coffee to name some of the offerings. You have to maneuver thru the Walmart parking lot to get here, which I always find amusing!

We make several trips a year from Colorado to Houston for medical treatment. Always stay in childress as it is the halfway point, and it is a nice little town with some good BBQ. We stay at either this hotel, or the Hampton inn, we will only stay at Hampton now. Our last trip back to Colorado, we stayed here, had dead bugs in the room on the floor, bathroom was so disgusting that we didn't even shower. It was obvious the bathroom above us had leaked into the room we were given, drywall was crack... Read more

Clean, comfortable. Friendly, helpful staff Awesome breakfast! Has a machine which, when you press the button, cooked pancakes pop out!! The only problem is there is no road directly to hotel. You have to enter Walmart parking lot then take a small driveway at top right of parking lot to hotel. The small driveway is unmarked and unlighted. There is no sign telling you to enter Walmart parking lot.

We were traveling back from Colorado with 2 dogs and the first hotel I tried didn't take dogs so I call The Holiday Inn in Childress and they were so nice and accommodating. I called about 4 hours before we got there and they saved a king bed room for us, dogs and all. It was late but they helped get us to the room and we fell fast asleep. There is a good grassy area for dogs which can be hard to find. The room was fine, the bathroom adequate and the service was fine. They had a good breakf... Read more

Let's get right to it. This experience flat out sucked. I'd give no stars if I could. Frankly, the manager should be fired or placed on probation. We were sent to four rooms before we found one clean and unoccupied. Two of those rooms were still dirty but marked clean on the room status sheet at the front desk. One was occupied. That is completely unacceptable. You never give a client a set of coded keys for an occupied room. That is a major security issue. The new person at the front ... Read more

Great price! Perfect for our needs. Clean, comfy beds, friendly staff, hot breakfast....after a long week of camping this is exactly what we needed to get us through the last leg of our trek home! Not too much in the way of food in this town - make sure you arrive before 9pm if you want to eat. Otherwise, this hotel is literally right next to a Walmart if all else fails.

We have stayed here on several occasions so just was not prepared for some issues we faced. Upon check in we had to be moved to a different room because the TV was not working. Wanted to watch the conventions going on at that time. The gal at the front desk was very good with re-locating us. After we moved to another room I opened the curtains to find the window seal with way too much dirt, stains, and bugs. In the bathroom the wall by the shower was peeling close to the floor. The smell in ... Read more

This is our go to place when coming home from Colorado. Location is tucked back form the highway and behind the Wal-Mart, which can make it tricky to get to. It is visible, so once you have done it, you're good for the next time! Rooms are spacious and well appointed; free wifi included. Hotel is pet friendly which is great for our two little dogs. The breakfast here is always well done and many good choices. Staff here does an excellent job. We have never been disappointed.

Stayed here a couple of nights ago. The staff was extremely courteous and helpful. The beds were great. The breakfast ( small cheese omelets, fresh baked cinnamon tools, pancakes etc )was one of the best I've had in the Inns that provide this item.

Okay, there's weird stuff going on in hotels these days, like maybe the hotel staff is hanging out in unoccupied rooms when they're on a break or hiding from the housekeeping supervisor. Twice in the last month I've checked into rooms that have had lights on, the AC blowing full blast and set to sixty degrees and rumpled pillowcases that looked suspiciously used. Just in this past trip I found this at the Holiday Inn Express in Childress and in the Fairfield Inn in Gallup. It's a little unset... Read more

On a road trip to Colorado, and we needed a place to sleep for the night. We were pushing from the Dallas/Fort Worth area, with plans for a long day driving around the Texas Panhandle area doing some geocaching the next day before heading to Colorado to visit family for the holidays. We wanted a good jumping-off point in a city we had stayed in before, and this was a perfect location, although we'd not stayed at this property before. We selected the Hotel Holiday Inn Express Childress to take first night halt on Nov 2 2016 during our road travel from Houston TX to San Jose CA . We reached the Hotel around mid night having got delayed due to torrential rain and storm on the way. The welcoming staff and readied room were a big solace after a tough day ! We stopped at the Holiday Inn Express to give ourselves a treat on a return from a trip. The check-in was very friendly as had been a telephone call to ask about availability. The room was comfortable and the breakfast was the usual fare. However, the maid had not cleaned out the refrigerator which had food in it and there was a dirty towel in the bathroom. I usually expect more of this chain. I will return for another try.
