I stayed here on a recent business trip to Canyon. The front desk staff was very friendly and welcoming. The room was clean but had a strange odor. The bed was unusually hard. Everything else in the room was OK. The complimentary was standard Holiday Inn Express fare, however, the eggs and meats were luke warm and the attendant seemed to be more occupied talking on her mobile phone than taking care of their customers.

Front desk staff was great, able to give us a room fitting our needs. Room was well taken care of, clean and well stocked. Only problem was at checkout when price was above what told at check-in, however clerk made note of it and without having to make another call later the adjustment was made on my card. Excellent customer service. Would highly recommend this hotel if staying in Canyon. Nice lobby area to relax in too!

Terrible experience with hotel staff, especially Kyla the front desk clerk. If you are traveling with children, particularly small children, I would NOT recommend staying here! Hotel staff are not at all kid friendly which was very apparent in the way we were treated by the front desk and dining attendant, who seemed more interested in their cigarette breaks than their customers. Our complaints about rude staff to the front desk were minimized and we were told we could "talk till we were blue i... Read more

I travel for business and have stayed in a number of Holiday Inn Expresses throughout the United States. I am from North Dakota and was told by staff that the hotel was owned by people from South Dakota. This should be a red flag, as owner's who are not present often let their businesses slide. Let's start off with the good. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. The hotel is easy to access and find. Where to begin with the bad? Upon entering my room i needed to use the restroom and ... Read more

I was greeted warmly on the phone by Michael. He said he had a room for us and would hold it until we could get there. Arrived 30 minutes later to be greeted warmly again by Michael who quickly checked me in and answers questions about the town that he proudly lives in. Michael seems very invested in his country, community and his job. He told me about the free breakfast and encouraged us to come in the morning. We took him up on that and breakfast was very good, well stocked, fresh and hot... Read more

This hotel is one of the closest to Palo Duro Canyon State Park and the outdoor theatre. It was only about 15 miles from the park. Made it very convenient to stay here and go to the canyon. The room was clean and comfortable. Loved how the pillow cases said whether the pillow was soft or firm. It had a great good variety of food for the complimentary breakfast. The indoor pool and hot tub felt great and clean.

Canyon TX is an unsung gorgeous spot on the planet. First of all the Panhandle Plains Museum which is the largest museum in terms of space in the state of Texas is amazing. Many of us don't realize the economic impact the Panhandle had on Texas and the nation. The museum helps explain this. and then there is the matter of Georgia O'Keefe who taught school in Canyon in the early 20th Century and began honing her artistic skills in Canyon (there's a current exhibit through October 2016 at the O'Ke... I take this time to acknowledge Ms. Kyla Farmer, located at the Holiday Inn Express in Canyon Texas. Ms. Farmer??s professional courtesies and cheerful attitude where always a bright spot for my wife and I during our visits, and is very much appreciated in making our transition from living overseas a pleasurable event. I submit specifics: the property is always clean and orderly, the front desk personnel and their capabilities in their duties are exceptional, all of these a result of Ms. Farm... Read more

Family of 3 we checked in about 9pm on Wed evening. We had reservations for two evenings . We went up to the second floor room, but it smelled like smoke. We went back downstairs and talked to the evening lady. We were worried because we wanted to stay as close to campus as we could both days . The evening lady was so nice and understanding. She gave us a room that was really nice !!! It was quiet and very clean . We enjoyed our visit . The only negative would be the elevator . Just needs updati... Read more

Traveled to Canyon, Texas, and decided to take a chance on this hotel, even though TA reviews have not been very good -- not a lot of choices in Canyon. Should have just stayed in Amarillo instead. This hotel is below average. I thought I read it had some renovations last year but I certainly couldn't see them if they did. This is a tired old property that was poorly designed. Makes me wonder if this was previously a budget hotel. Staff at check-in and check-out need immediate retraining -- ... Read more

This place was great. Perfect room for family of 6. A queen and king and couch bed. All connected with two bathrooms and a kitchenette. Coffee available in downstairs lobby 24/7. GREAT a/c. Would recommend anytime. Of course it is also very close to the palo duro canyon state park. It was hot (112 F) but the hotel was a great oasis of comfort.

Stayed in Canyon, TX from July 10-15 on business. First time staying at a Holiday Inn Express. Nice Keureg coffee maker. Cleaning people were not cleaning. I had to request vacuuming of the carpet once and the toilet was not cleaned thoroughly. I left tips every day of my stay. Kinda disappointed. They were doing construction work for 3 days. Had to adjust for that in parking. Average hotel stay, not so remarkable. Front desk lady on my last day would not look at me, kinda robotic, lik... Read more

We checked in and as soon as we got off the elevator I could hear a dog barking toward our room. It only got louder, and since it was night time, I knew this would be an all night thing. My husband was less than thrilled, it was s really loud dog. He went to the desk right away to ask if we could move rooms. The clerk was pretty grumpy, she said no, this is all we have, and that nobody in that end if the hall had paid a pet fee. Well, ok then. He came back up, we would do our best. Within two mi... This was a typical Holiday Inn Express. The staff was nice. The rooms were clean and comfortable. It was quiet. It had free WiFi. The breakfast in the morning had a sufficient variety of breakfast items. Some of the staff did have a bad habit of congregating near main door to smoke. A couple of times it felt like you were walking through a smoky ash-filled tobacco shop. It is located just miles from Amarillo, Palo Duro Canyon and the Buffalo Lake National Wildlife Refuge so that is conven... Read more

I stayed at this hotel for two nights while visiting the area to see Palo Duro Canyon. The hotel was very clean, and staff were fantastic and friendly. Plenty of channels offered on the tv, including HBO. The wifi signal is not the greatest, but works fine for general use. Breakfast was good and had many other options than your usual toast, bagel, muffins sort of continental deal. Should I ever come back to the area I'd happily stay again.

We stayed two nights with the granddaughter to visit Palo Duro canyon. The room with fridge was comfy and spacious enough for a quick stay for the three of us. Everything was clean and orderly. Staff were kind and helpful. Breakfast was ok - typical for this type of hotel. The pool was pleasant and refreshing, and the hot tub worked great. I am not a fan of TVs in dining areas in general, but I really hate politics with breakfast. It would be more pleasant if the volume was down with the closed ... Read more

Stayed here for family reunion. Two weeks ago we stayed at holiday inn express in Ruston, La that makes this hotel look like a motel 6. This property had a small crowded, dirty, breakfast area and two tables were unusable do to the ceiling falling in. The property was not as clean as you would come to expect at HHE. After check out we came back to retrieve a book and swim suit. While the fact that these items magically vanished into thin air is disturbing, the staffs lack of concern was m... Read more

Outstanding employee Kyla went above and beyond to make sure our stay was without a hitch. She not only stored our heat sensitive items for us while we visited Palo Duro, but also noticed a problem with our reservation and corrected it before our late night return! She literally saved our night. Thank you Kyla!!!

We stayed at this hotel due to its location and proximity to the Musical Drama TEXAS in Palo Duro Canyon. The show ends at 11pm and it is only a short drive to the hotel. If you are exploring in the canyon, it is convenience to get back to hotel and fresh up before you go out for dinner. It is also within walking distant to the museum and university. I also highly recommend this place for parents when visiting kids at campus. The room was clean; the parking lot was well lighted. It is also ... Read more

Very basic room - beds are excellent. Great location lose to WT, Interstate, and Palo Dura Canyon. Pool is nice size - indoor I the back. Breakfast was better than most - had both turkey and pork sausage with the biscuit and cheese omlette. It has a unique one minute pancake maker. We would stay here again.

Driving thru, booked the room around 6 pm on Friday night to arrive a few hours later and all that was left was a handicap room. My husband has status and usually we are upgraded but they didn't have any other rooms. It was fine, just being on the first floor right near the dining area made it loud in the morning. And the guests above us were very loud too. That is what happens when you make a last minute booking. Otherwise friendly and accommodating. Breakfast was fine and they replenishe... Read more

I reserved the largest suite which had two bedrooms and two baths. Both bathrooms were not clean. One bathroom's toilet showed evidence of someone throwing up on the outside and floor around the toilet. The other bathroom floor had not been mopped. When I asked the Assistant Manager if housekeeping could clean the bathrooms he came up himself with a mop. He then mopped the floor and told me I was getting someone written up and fired and he hoped I was now satisfied with the cleanliness of the ro... Read more

We stayed here for 3 nights while at a conference in town. It is located by the PPHM museum on the West Texas A&M university and it is also not far from the Palo Duro Texas State Park. It is an older hotel with an indoor pool and Jacuzzi, it seemed to be maintained well and we had no complaints. Our room was fine and we slept well. The breakfast was OK. They had heated cinnamon rolls in their breakfast offerings which were tasty.

I drove all the way from Dallas to Canyon in one day. Just about any hotel would've done just fine, but this one was near both my meetings the next day so I'd booked it in advance. I got to the hotel about 10 PM and was greeted by a drunk receptionist who, while very friendly, was barely comprehensible. I was given my room key and I set off. It was on the first floor, which I don't generally like but obviously that has nothing to do with my rating since that's what was available. The room itsel... Read more

GREAT TEXAS HOSPITALITY? I WONDER!!! Called Friday afternoon for 3 nights stay. Told $136 per night and $144 for AARP. Took the lower rate. Got to desk and was told prices were wrong, tonight was $138, tomorrow night is $128 and Sunday is $98. All because of football weekend in town. Looked on line and next weekend is $106 per night. Quick overnight trip to the Panhandle and the last minute online booking got us a nice room at a very reasonable rate. We have stayed at the Canyon Holiday Inn before but it has been upgraded since our last stay and the weekend was very pleasant. They still have one of those infamous Holiday Inn pancake machines in the breakfast room. This is an older HIX and you could tell it by the furnishings and bathroom fixtures. On the plus side it was very clean and appeared well maintained. Unfortunately, the mattresses also seemed rather old and well used. This hotel is well off of main highways and took some finding after we came in on I-27. It is located in the middle of a college campus and there was a frat house across the street, but it was not noisy in the area. The biggest plus of this hotel is that it is less expensive than ...
