The TV was broken in which no one fixed, dogs were barking all night, and no one could move us. the service was slow. And the traffic outside was disruptive. I had very high expectations for this hotel and they fell below that expectation. We walked in hoping for a warm greeting but didn't even receive that. I was shocked to find they couldn't change our room due to the dogs barking in the room next door, even though we booked this hotel stay four months ago.

Room was clean, staff was courteous, but rooms were balcony location - not interior-corridor-style, which would have much quieter. Consequently, our night's sleep was continually interrupted by noise from passersby (other guests and highway traffic).. Also, the "complimentary" breakfast was meager and poorly presented, coffee resembled dirty dishwater - and very little else..

On the ninth of May my Co. had reserved a room for me at this La Quinta for two days. Due to a bad storm I encountered, I was late about three hours getting to the hotel. When I arrived a young girl behind the counter was dealing with two railroad workers and another gentleman behind them in trying to secure a room also. The girl...(her name was Tye) was looking in the computer with one hand while holding a piece of toast with grape jelly on the other telling them she had no more rooms and also ... Read more

Great location for travelers, and very friendly personnel. Very clean and squared away rooms and grounds. Nice and quiet, a big plus. Great location, easy on and off freeway. After a very long drive, a welcome stop.

I normally stay at Hampton, Holiday or one of the Marriott hotels, but all of those were booked when I passed thru Amarillo on May 17th. It was raining and I had been driving all day and was ready to stop for the evening. I used to like La Quinta, but it is really going down the tubes, right in line with Motel 6 and other low cost bed bug hotels, so out of desperation I took a room at this LaQuinta. The carpet was totally disgusting, badly stained. The towels, however, were white and fluffy, so... Read more

Beware, front desk clerk gave out our room key to another guest. That guest tried entering our room around 1:30 in the morning. We ended up calling the police since the front desk wouldn't answer our call. To make it worst the clerk denied issuing the room key when we checked out that morning.

I don't kno why I even have it any stars we always stay at la Quinta and for the most part for the value they are pretty good but this location is the worst IV ever been stains on sheet filthy very dated paint peeling off the walls reminds me of something out of a Alfred Hitchcock movie movie avoid this dump

Everything worked and was clean in the room. It is the many layers of paint and caulking that just forced me to accept that this is a very old building with years of make-up.. The building just does not justify the price. The desk staff was top notch! Friendly, efficient.

We were feeling adventurous and were only stopping in Amarillo for the night on our way west. We used Hotwire and got this room cheap. It was clean. The refrigerator sounded like a compressor. The plumbing ran all night, and there's a train track nearby. Unfriendly staff and NO ELEVATOR. I'll pay more next time for something better.

Stopped at this location on our way west due to them being pet friendly. The odor in the room was so bad we sprayed everything down with Febreeze and would not walk on the carpet barefooted. My wife went to take our poodle for a walk and was surprised by a homeless man crawling out of the dumpster (she did inform the front desk). When my wife approached the front desk about the condition of our room she was told our floor was the next to be cleaned .....

This was not my first time to stay.Great place to stay. Staff and rooms great too. Breakfast served earlier enough to get up and on your way to next destination. I am glad that they accept animals as I have a small dog who travels with us. I am also pleased that the rooms have been cleaned so that you cannot tell if the people before you also had a dog or animal in the room.

This is one of the older properties and it shows. Our room was clean, but I wouldn't stay here again. True story: the desk clerk asked me to press ZERO on the room phone when I was ready to check out. I did press ZERO, only to find the phone wasn't working There are other good news / bad news stories: Good news: there is a light on each side of the bed; bad news: one of the light fixtures was broken Good news: we had an ADA room with a hand sprayer in the shower; bad news: the sprayer was... La Quinta East is a dated property - a throw back to motor lodge days where you park near your door. Having said that, it was clean, convenient to I-40, and the pool was decent. The Denny's restaurant (right next door) is being renovated, so there's heavy vehicles, traffic, and mini dumps in the La Quinta Inn parking lot. Fast food options are within walking distance in the same parking lot (Taco Bell - open to 2 A.M. and Wendy's) and lots of others choices nearby. Our A/C was cold, the bed was ... Read more

It seemed as though La Quinta purchased an older motel and converted it. The rooms were nice on the inside, but there were outdoor entrances, which is something I like to avoid. That's on me, I guess. I should have checked the pictures before booking.

The rooms seemed fine until bugs started showing up--all windows extremely dirty-older property-may need updating in the near future-usually exterior doors on la Quinta indicate buyer beware-some are maintained but most are in poor condition. Corporate should get theses renovated!!!

We hated it!!! Will never stay in a La Quinta Inn again. It was filthy and staff was very unaccommodating. Linens were gross. Would not recommend it to anyone. Stay away from this one. The carpet was filthy. The doors have NEVER been wiped down. The tub faucet leaked hot water all night long! The staff was very unhelpful and rude. Talked on their personal phone while checking us in. There were mud swallow nests in every corner outside. Needed to be hosed down. Breakfast was very mini... Read more

2-3 times/yr we travel from Houston to Colorado. Almost every time, we spend the night here on the way up and back as Amarillo is about half way. They are pet friendly which is required for us. The rooms are very clean and the beds are comfortable. The breakfast is just what we need to get us going in the morning. For us, the place is a great value.

I came to town for a family funeral and when we got to our room which was supposed to be smoke free. The smell was so bad and the place was old and outdated I left and found a better hotel. I understand there is another one which is nicer. I found out this is where the railroad puts there guys up. No wonder it smells.

We always book La Quinta because they are pet friendly. This one needs lots of help. It was Memorial Day weekend and the property clean all the carpets in the rooms. Needless to say our carpet was wet and had a order when we checked in. When I complained the front desk made the comment " I don't know why they chose to do this on a holiday weekend". The door to our room stuck because they recently painted the the outside of each room and did a terrible job.

The carpet in the room was dirty. Molding on the sink had pulled away from the wall. There was not enough room in their breakfast area to host the guests that were there. The location off I-40 was great and the exterior nice, but they need to work on their rooms.

We booked our room and paid for them three months in advance. We checked in and was give two handicap rooms. Which we didn't need. Both smelled very very bad. The carpets had a bad oder. One the phone didn't even work. The other had food under the bed. After waiting for new rooms. One has food on the carpet. The other tub dripped all night. The hotel is bad. Even the parking lot has trash every where and not kept. Don't stay here!!!

We have stayed at many La Quinta's and this was not even close to being comparable. Room was much smaller than others we have stayed in. Had a dingy feel to it. Bathroom sink drained very slow, electrical outlet at desk didn't work, carpet looked like it was in need of cleaning or replacement. Would not stay there again.

This is an older LaQuinta which is what we like so I can back up to and unload all our stuff. Much easier than the elevator and have to wait on one or two luggage carriers! Nice folks running the place, old, bit clean, pool was good, very nice, good rates!!!

I swear I didn't notice this on their website picture, but this hotel has outdoor access which is a minus to begin with. It is definitely an older LQ. The room was very small, and was not the cleanest one I've ever stayed in. This is not up to normal LQ standards. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

Very pleasantly surprised by the condition and service at this La Quinta location. From the outside it doesn't look like much -- standard motel appearance with lots of paint to hide the buildings' age and a little rust here and there on the stairways.  However, everything is right, where it counts.  New, fluffy towels; fresh new sheets and blankets; clean, updated rooms and decor; and attentive staff.  As an example, we picked up a pair of extra towels from the front desk to bring our tota... This property is an older style "motel" (park at your door). It has been updated to La Quinta Inn standards. But, this is not a La Quinta Inn & Suites, just an Inn. No refer, no microwave, but, clean and comfortable with a friendly staff. Rooms are a full 1/3 to 1/2 less than the properties with suites. Nice inexpensive place to stay.

The hotel is pet friendly which was nice since I was moving across the country. There were however live bugs crawling around on the floor. Not sure what they were, but could have done without them. The shower had good water pressure.

We stay at La Quinta a lot when traveling because they accept pets. We try and stay at a Suites because they tend to be better kept up. There wasn't any here so we stayed at this one. Never again, this was a dive. When your dog doesn't want to stay and parks himself at the door that is a big sign.

All rooms are accessible from the outside. In this case it felt a little better knowing my car was backed up to my door in case I need to flee. Too much activity in the parking lot, people who didn't seem to be staying in the hotel. The room was fairly clean but I just never felt settled. I cruised a couple other hotels in the area that were the same price range and almost all looked better than this tired place. Without going inside to be sure, the Amarillo Inn and Suites and the Day... Read more

Staff was friendly, beds clean and comfortable. The not so good: there was black mold around the tub, the coffee maker was dirty (thick dust not just coffee remnants). There were multiple bugs. The tub faucets need work. The box spring lining was torn. We traveled with cats and they were able to get under there which made it difficult to retrieve them and could have been dangerous for them. There was a smelly trashcan right outside our room.

Given that this is an older motel we didn't have high expectations, however when your foot sticks to a spot in the carpet to the point of almost pulling your shoe off, that is unacceptable. Carpet needs a professional cleaning. Other than that it was ok.

While this hotel is in dire need of an upgrade, the staff are extremely welcoming and helpful at every opportunity. An investment in new furnishings and some paint, etc. would go a long way toward making the facility attractive, welcoming, comfortable, and worthy of the recommendation it deserves, especially with the extant excellent staff.!

Stayed there on way from Colorado to Austin. Although its a motor inn (doors face the parking lot), it was clean and comfortable for me and my family. Staff was friendly and had our room ready for us despite late arrival. Bathroom had separate sink from small toilet/shower area. Sheets were nice and AC was great. There is a Denny's next door and an IHOP across the highway. I didn't see an elevator and the exterior stairs are about 1/3 and 2/3 through the building.

This hotel is priced reasonably and is accessible to major venues, airport, highways, restaurants, and shopping. It is an older hotel but the interior decor has been updated. Nothing fancy, but a clean, well maintained room. Outside access is a concern, but the area was well lighted at night and parking was close. Good value in comparison to other major brand hotels in the area.

This was a bargain hotel but well worth our stay as we saved money. It is nicely located off IH40 and next door to a Denny's restaurant so travel to dinner was just a few steps away. We would stay at this hotel again.
