The hotel was comfortable. The beds were heavenly and rooms were clean. The paint on the wall needs updated. There were a lot of skid marks on the walls which maid me uncomfortable. The carpet on the floors need to be thoroughly clean as well. Overall a decent hotel.

Stayed here several times in the past, see previous review. This visit showed a significant deterioration. I booked two rooms and both rooms were not very clean. Stains on the bedroom and bathroom walls, hair ball on the carpet, etc. The hallway also needed a vacuum. Breakfast in the dining room was inefficient. Two of us ate the buffet and one ordered from the menu. The menu order had not arrived 45 minutes after ordering long after the buffet eaters had finished. Finally cancelled breakfast. ... Read more

My family and I live in Colorado and frequently make road trips to and back from Houston, TX for hospital visits. We often stay in Amarillo over night on our way back home. We have stayed at the Holiday Inn Express before and were quite pleased with the accommodations. It is a new hotel and the rooms reflect this fact and they offer free breakfast, have an indoor pool and hot tub, etc. they were all booked last week when we were traveling back from Texas, so we opted for the full service Holiday... The facilities are nice; I would give 5 for them except the slightly sticky carpets and the pool. Clean for the most part although the room carpet has a little bit of that sticky feeling that a lot of hotels have. It smells good. The lobby is very clean. The decor is very nice in the rooms and especially in the lobby. The beds are comfortable, the pillows not the best I've used but pretty good (fluffy ones are a little lumpy). The pool is tiny and looked a little cloudy; I decided not to try, b... Read more

My partner and I are on a Route 66 tour, so the tour company cghose this ptroperty, and I'm so glad they did! It is modern, well-located close to shops and restaurants (although it has its own Mexican restaurant on site), and our room was spacious, light, with all the modern conveniences, save and except for a safe (important for international travellers like us). I stopped in the bar at the Holiday Inn Medical Center last week because several business associates told me that the bar service was excellent and boy were they right! I had the privilege of Kristi waiting on me. The service was superb. I watched her at work and was amazed at how she could take care of a packed house full of patrons and never seem to be rattled. As she hustled around table to table, she never asked what anyone was drinking, just if they wanted another and never seemed to ge... Read more

Pulled in for a nights rest, room cozy, new, comfy bed and clean. Best mirror in a bathroom I've ever encountered. There was a large lighted magnifying mirror on top of regular mirror which is great for those of us of a certain age. Decent breakfast buffet.

After book a room on Priceline that was paid in advanced we arrived at 11:30pm to a hotel that was oversold and didn't have a room for us. The clerk was unwilling to call other Holiday Inn's or hotels to try and help us find a room. She never apologized and was in fact rude.

Good location, clean room, good amenities. However, $150/night in Amarillo is a bit ridiculous, especially when there is no complimentary breakfast included. Unfortunately, it's the going rate for most local hotels.

This is one of my favorite hotels to stop at on our trips between Houston and Denver. The kids can swim, the adults can have a cocktail at the full bar and there is a basic restaurant on site. My one complaint is the breakfast. Kids eat free for breakfast but for $10, the meager breakfast buffet is nothing worth staying for. Breakfast service is usually slow (last time I simply found my own coffee carafe) and nothing more than you would find for free at any of the neighboring hotels.

I booked several rooms here as we had a decent stay years ago and the kids loved the waterslide! When we arrived and the front desk told us it had been taken out, were very disappointed and he was not very apologetic. He simply stated, Lee get this complaint a lot - that it's still being advertised, but we can't do anything about it." Ask looked over my shoulder to the welcome sign, a picture of a little boy was featured - standing in front of the old slide! I feel as if they k ow this was a big... Read more

Newer looking property with nice rooms. They restaurant was surprisingly good. I had a room service burger and my wife had a salad in the restaurant. Both were good+. The hotel looked to be going through some mgmt growing pains. The lobby, which was nice, seemed a bit dusty/dirty for such a new place. We stayed on our way out to Santa Fe and on our return from Breckenridge, and we'd stay again.

The building is lovely, service was efficient and courteous; probably the best place to stay in Amarillo. The pool is just right for a family traveling with kids BUT it is slippery. Three of the five of us slipped and fell. We weren't running. My kids are competitive swimmers and never have slipped near a pool (unless being overly careless). My youngest cut her eye lid and scratched her face and leg. Though guests swim at their own risk, this seems to be irresponsible. I went to front desk for f... Read more

Stayed here again this year on our way back from Vegas. Not much has changed...in fact, the hotel that was being built next door is STILL under construction, which we thought was a little strange, since they can usually put those up in about 3-4 months. We didn't really pay much attention last year, but we noticed this time that the hotel has a bar not far from the check-in. After a long day of driving, it was nice to finally have a cold beer. Booked this hotel as a one night stop-over in Amarillo. Upon entering our room, the walls were disgusting with what appeared to be beverages or "other" fluids staining them. Called front desk to get out of the reservation. Staff was unresponsive to my concerns but did cancel the reservation. Nasty experience. We had an unfortunate event where our car broke down in Amarillo. We booked this hotel because of the water slide. My 5 year old was cooped up in the car for hours and needed to release energy. We check in, get ready for the pool....and no slide. Talk about false advertising. Given the situation, she still had fun swimming. We stayed a Friday night and the bar was very lively. The main reason I chose this over anything else in Amarillo was the pool's water slide for my kids. FYI: THE SLIDE IS GONE, and they don't heat the pool. It has been replaced by more seating, which is fine too. I'm just glad I didn't tell my kids about before we got here or tears would have ensued. The breakfast was fine, but the hours (5-9am!) are surprising early. It's a good deal tho. $5 more on the room rate of about $110 for a Sunday, and you get a decent hot breakfast.
