I researched places to stay for months before choosing, and I made a bad choice. When we checked in, I asked if they accommodated requests, hoping to get a newer building or remodeled room (as indicated by tips for this place), but was told that had to be done within days of making the reservation. I researched places to stay for months before choosing, and I made a bad choice. When we checked in, I asked if they accommodated requests, hoping to get a newer building or remodeled room (as indicated by tips for this place), but was told that had to be done within days of making the reservation. We got stuck with EVERYTHING I was hoping to avoid. We got stuck with a room by the noisy road, on the first floor, clearly very dated and not well cleaned, and located near the sewer smell mentioned by several reviewers. My husband, as usual, never listens to my cautions of not bringing things in until the room has been thoroughly inspected, and he brought in all our stuff as I checked the beds for bad signs. I found black spots on every single bed, on top of the comforters, on the sheets, and under the sheets. The lighting was very dim, so I called the front desk to see if this room had been treated for bedbugs, and she sent someone to check it out. Rather than making me feel better, it made me feel worse. While some of the spots were blue colored under a bright flashlight, many were not. The guy reassured me that it must be dirt from a tear in a vacuum bag, because bed bugs were much bigger than those spots. That told me he didn't know what he was talking about at all. I never said I thought the spots were bugs, I thought they were bug poop. And bed bugs go through 5 stages, most being very tiny. And if it is a new infestation with only a few bugs, it is difficult to find anything with the very superficial search he gave. The mattresses are also not protected by full zippered covers (something I have seen at all my other recent hotel stays, even at places like Sleep Inn). The partial covers are no protection whatsoever. Anyway, my husband insisted I was overreacting and I did not demand a new room. Big mistake. First, the musty smell of the room drove me crazy from the start, Second, I found hairs on all three bathroom sinks, which is unacceptable to me. Third, there were goldfish crackers in a couch crack or somewhere that my daughter discovered. Fourth, we found dust or hair in several of the dishes that I assume hadn't been used for awhile. Fifth, the carpet was significantly dirty. It was as if they didn't vacuum and only used that useless roller thing in the closet to pick up obviously crumbs while leaving tons of dirt behind. And back to the bug issue, over the course of the week, I noticed 3 tiny blood smudges on my side of the bed. I tried to rationalize it away since hubby still thought I was crazy. I continued to find black spots appearing on the beds, although I was insistent that we wear shoes or socks in the rooms and no shoes or socks on the beds (and I was very careful on my own bed). Arriving home, I was adament that nothing come into the house until it was washed and inspected. Alas, tonight my daughter found a blood smudge on her bed. She also has itchy spots on her arms. I fear that yes, there were bedbugs, and yes, they made it into the house despite my attempts at keeping them out. I usually don't take the time to leave reviews, but I could not let this one slide. I understand that bedbugs can appear in any hotel, but this one did not do a thorough enough inspection, nor do they seem to know much about the evidence bedbugs leave behind. Considering there were spots on every single bed, I should have been offered a new room without having to ask for one. I really wish I had demanded one, because now I'm in a difficult and potentially expensive situation, and I'm furious about it. And fyi, it's true the wifi is absolutely horrible. We don't have super speed at home, but this was completely unbearable. We gave up trying to use it for anything with video clips, and half the time we couldn't get pages to load at all.
