Stayed at several properties in my recent trip through the South and was shocked by the poor quality of this hotel. Spent $370 for one night and the hotel was just a converted motor lodge - outdoor room entrances facing a street? Woken up many times by people walking around the outside of the rooms, knocking on windows and doors. First time ever I had to apologize to my family for a booking. Stay somewhere else.

not the best hotel you expect, but a good find in the middle of expensive Nashville downtown...as a solo traveler I just need a place to rest my head after a long day of exploring, Updated room but small, just enough for me, good AC, fridge, flat screen tv and a hot shower. Ok bed but clean, very thin walls, can be annoying if other tenant comes home late and drunk, it can be loud and noisy. Hotel is not perfect but topnotch costumer service topped it all....plus location, location, location.

More of a motel style where the rooms open to the open air walk ways. Location is convenient to downtown and many attractions. Not the right value for the price, but relatively less expensive for the market. Room accommodations were average. Breakfast is included and has some hot food - premade eggs and sausage, waffle maker. Staff was friendly and helpful.

Several months ago as we tried to develop a plan to see the Happy Together tour at War Memorial Nashville, our thoughts kept going back to one word: traffic. It was opening CMA Fan Fest at the same time as our concert. Hmmm, what to do? Simple really. Book a room at the Capitol Hotel and walk one block to our restaurant and one half block to the show. No long lines, quiet, and totally convenient. This hotel is an older style open corridor floor plan that has had some major renovation. First of ... Read more

The ladies at the front desk, gentleman at vallet, and the cleaning crew were all such a pleasure to be around. Friendly, kind, and helpful. The girls Christine and Jaime at the front desk were all smiles and had helpful information for our one night stay. The vallet took great car of our fully packed rental suv and the cleaning women (Denise I believe) helped us when we had trouble opening our room door. What a fantastic experience.

Some staff were friendly, while others acted like our questions were an inconvenience. We thought it was going to be a hotel based off pictures, so we were a little surprised it was a motel. Also, we thought it was odd that the "gym" (3 machines and some free weights) was in a completely different building. Can't complain about the location, though! Walking distance to everywhere we wanted to visit downtown and the cost was fair.

The breakfast bar in the morning was great and we were always treated with a " good morning" this is not a 500.00 a night hotel but we were treated great and it was the perfect walk to down town.

This property is in a great location to walk to Downtown/Broadway. Check in staff were most unfriendly and serving guests was an absolute inconvenience to them. The room was Ok but very small. I've had the privilege of traveling a fair amount - and I'm at a bit of a loss with regards to how to describe this facility. The pros: great location, convenient and within easy walking distance to the capital building and a few blocks from all the drinking and eating establishments. Seemingly safe area. Great price. The cons: the facade of the building is a bit off putting - as it most resembles a multi level motel (with external facing entrances) - the type you would find along a beach in th... Read more

We booked this for the location and price thinking it was a good deal-there's definitely a reason for the drop in price! It was one thing to find a giant cockroach in our bathroom but the management reaction to it was pretty concerning. We are happy with our choice of the Capitol Hotel during our recent visit to Nashville. Four blocks to downtown (though the hill may bother some). The desk staff (Gwen and Rever?) and the cleaning staff were very friendly. The breakfasts were dependably fine. A small bar on the main floor was useful. I can appreciate some of the comments about cleanliness; for example, a used piece of gum in the elevator took a day or two to be removed. But overall, we were happy and would use Capitol again.

We stayed here because it was walking distance from Bridgestone Arena. It wasn't bad, but I didn't love the outdoor entrances to the rooms like a motel. You did have to use the elevator to get to the floors. There was a bar in the lobby and our room was very clean. Bottled water and a granola bar in the room was a nice amenity. The hotel staff rocked. Gwen was a delight. They all were wonderful and very helpful. She made me feel right at home though. The hotel is in a nice location for walking to most attractions, but it's not as polished as other places. The property has some rough edges and at first it didn't feel 100% safe. As I explored a bit more though, it all turned out great. The bar lacked personality, so I went to the Sheraton across the street for happy hour. But what the bar lacked to staff and room comfort... We stayed at the Capitol Hotel in June 2016. It was very close to the downtown fun, the staff was wonderful, and the value was the best part. This isn't a super fancy place, BUT the staff made sure you were happy and to myself and my husband that is all that matters. The rooms were large and clean, but a bit loud. It is a party town, so this was expected and didn't really bother us. Free coffee in the room was a nice touch. There was also complimentary hot breakfast each morning that was great.... Read more

I won't be staying again at this hotel. It's a prettied up motel (nice lobby, decent room fixtures, granite sink in bathroom) that falls short of the mark in two key areas: 1. The bedding sheets used are completely worn and scratchy and not befitting a hotel of this caliber. Why spend all that money on nice furniture and fixtures and then use Super 8 quality bedding? Bizarre choice. 2. This is the deal breaker: my room faced Union street and being that this is an old motel where the rooms o... Read more

I booked four nights at this hotel in September. There were both pros and cons with my stay. I picked it because it was only a ten minute walk from the Ryman auditorium and other attractions which was great. As I was a single female traveller this was important to me. It was ideally placed for the state capitol and state museum and Bicentennial Capitol mall state park. But it did seem to be in the business district so most things were closed by 6pm and it made the area quite lonely. The door sta... Read more

Right next to to state Capitol, we were able to walk to Broadway and The Listening Room. Also, Gray Line's Music City Hop On/Off had a stop nearby. Be sure to walk around the Capitol if you stay here. Must take cab from airport.

The staff was friendly when they weren't gossiping about you behind your back. Breakfast looked so awful that we couldn't even eat it. This hotel has nice decor, nice staff (including Ann Malee), and a great location close to what you want to be doing in Nashville. The only reason it doesn't get a higher rating is the rooms feel pretty small and it's a little light on amenities. But if you want a clean room for the night at a reasonable price while you party down in downtown...it's perfect.

The Capitol is a bit of a mixed bag. We were surprised to discover it is a motel rather than a hotel - so you access your room from open corridors.
