More About the Area
Beale Street, a historical landmark for blues music, in downtown Memphis, is a top tourist destination. Downtown is the oldest part of the city and includes the riverfront and the bluffs overlooking the Mississippi river. The founders of Memphis dedicated the riverfront to the public ``now and forever`` as long as the public use continued. The land overlooking the riverfront was originally planned to become a ``public promenade`` to be called Mississippi Row.

Only stayed five minutes due to room presentation. Looked older but clean until a used personal item was noted in the room, absolutely this room was not cleaned as should . Would not recommend to anyone

The rooms are clean, front desk staff pleasant, and close to major attractions. The hotel offers popcorn for evening snack, and bottled water. The breakfast is good..offering fruit, toast, bagels, cereal, oatmeal, pancakes, and cinnamon rolls...pretty good! The only issue we had was shower was backed up in one of our rooms. ..took awhile to drain.. .kind of gross..so had to wait in between showers for water to drain. Hotel is on Union St. which is 6 miles from main attractions.. So, we like tha... Read more

A great hotel, friendly staff, great breakfast, comfortable room, what more could you ask for. A 10 minute journey into town is easy. We stayed here for the Beale Street Music Festival and the hotel had a lovely lady who volunteered to drive guests into town, what a great experience!

This hotel is very easy to find - due east of downtown on Union Avenue. it has plenty of free parking within the hotel site. As you might expect the rooms are spacious and very well-equipped. It was immaculately clean and serviced thoroughly everyday. Breakfast is good. My only gripe is that the hotel is too far from downtown for this to be walkable, and you have to drive further east to Ovendon Square to find any decent restaurants

Holiday Inn Medical center is your basic HI property that you see throughout the country. First the good: Awesome front desk staff, very friendly and helpful. Great free breakfast in the morning, better than similar hotels. Now the bad: If the pool is not open until Memorial Day it should be clearly stated on the website. Storing anything in exit stairwells (5 gal buckets of paint) is against fire code. Show the maids how to clean out tub drains( something disgusting was visible in ours) and h... Read more

The front desk staff was helpful with suggestions during our vacation stay. The breakfast was above average and the pool was very clean. One large negative is the housekeeping staff thought anything in the room was okay to take! I found items missing when we had come back. When I brought it to the attention of the front desk they were very apologetic and said they would pass it on to the manager. It has been over 2 weeks and I have had no response from the manager. I think the management does... Read more

We stayed here on a family trip to see Memphis. Picked this hotel due to location and it being cheaper than the one downtown but still close to attractions. The staff was friendly and helpful (front desk found us a coupon for Graceland), that is where the positives end. The room and bathroom were very small (4 people in a cramped room where we had to move out of each other's way to walk around the bed). It was an older building and shows signs of wear and tear (carpet bubbling up in the hallway,... Read more

I wanted to say that the hotel was clean and the staff was fairly nice. In general it was a good experience at this hotel. There was a slight problem with my room in regards to the smell but the manager did a good job resolving it.

This is an older property, rooms are small & hallway carpets need to be replaced or at least cleaned & stretched. The hallways had a chemical smell, much like bug spray. We had a room with 2 beds, a clothes cabinet, table & 2 chairs. The linen, actually looked new as did the fluffy towels. The bath room was extreamly clean.our 4th floor room was directly above the pool area, but was not noisy. The best thing was the "hot" breakfast, the best at any hotel that we have stayed in. Having visited memphis several times, we've got a good eye for location and value when it comes to staying near to Beale St. Having stayed at tons of places in the past, we tried the Holiday Inn express for the price, location and promise of a swimming pool. The rooms were nice, but a little small (2x double beds in a double room wasnt necessary for us but i get its handy for some guests). Very clean and the bathrooms were so cosy (lovely warm floors!). The staff were wonderful and very accomod... Read more

Family vacation through Memphis. Went to downtown attractions, so this motel was a good location with access to Sun Studios, National Civil Rights Museum and Beale Street. However, the neighborhood seemed questionable. Next to the medical centers, the clerks said that the police monitor the area and drive through the parking lot at night. Room was small and dated, but appeared clean. Bathroom very small and dated. But, staff was wonderful! They serve popcorn in the evening. Very friendly. This ... Read more

We were told that the hotel will be getting a complete renovation in August, 2016. Not a moment too soon! This hotel is tired-looking from the dingy walls to the avocado carpeting. I hope that they will also improve on their Wi-Fi, which was hit-and-miss, and their TV reception, which was more miss than hit. Besides the friendly staff, the one highlight was the cool pancake maker at the breakfast bar...different from waffles at other places!

Right off the bat I was disappointed when given a smoking room, with a window that didn't open. No choice because the hotel was full, and as a non smoker I find that disgusting. I am not surprised the room was cost effective. That said, the hotel was relatively which is the only thing that stopped it getting 1 star!

We only stayed one night and really it was a brief, bed to sleep in and shower to get our next day started kind of stay. It was the half way mark for us, on our way to Nashville. My husband and I shared a room with my parents. Double queen beds were fine, had a table for my husband to finish is school work. Bathroom was pretty small and had no vent ... the room was a little small as well. Due to the lack of space in the room, the table blocked the air vent and room was a little stuffy. Overall ... Looks in the neighborhood are deceiving. This hotel was very nice! They have a good centrally located hotel. Our room was a king and was recently updated. Kept cool in the summer heat too! We had a nice time sitting in the lobby with our entire party, which was 27 people. The morning breakfast was very nice, the pancake machine was a very big hit.

I'd previously given a higher rating from an earlier stay in Dec and that one , like this , received an extra star ONLY because of the staff. But last time at least , OUR room was pretty good overall ; very comfortable. So on the visit in December , we couldn't understand all the negative reviews. THIS time we did though. Even though it was our Anniversary and I had made sure to ask for a nice room (even the receipt was marked Anniversary Stay ), the room was overall barely average. As ... Read more

Room was broken into while I was working during the day. Over $1000 worth of items including a pistol was stolen. Room 206. Staff and managers apathy toward the situation was enough to get me fuming mad. The security guard is a walking joke. The pin badge on his uniform was a solid 45 degree angle. The man can't even put a pin on correctly, much less secure the premises. The manager was alerted of the situation on a Saturday night and not once has he, Wiles Davis Jr, reached out to me to offer ... Read more

Everyone was very kind and welcoming. Gave us coupons for Graceland. The hotel was renovated and had free breakfast. Which we ate one morning. Some of the items were not as hot as we would have liked and wasn't cooked the best it was still ok for being free. The area was clean and they kept it stocked. Our room was clean. I only wished the fridge was already cold upon our arrival. I would consider staying here again.

I checked in a week ago for a 21 night stay as I am on business. After a 10 hr. work day, I like to have a beer or two out on the pool deck. (Just to get out of this room). Tuesday evening, the pool was closed. The receptionist said that they will check with maintenance in the morning as to why the pool gate was locked. Tonight, Thursday evening, the sun is bright, but the pool deck is closed again! The front desk said that because it had sprinkled today, tomorrow they will have their pool maint... Read more

after some negative comments I saw in advance I was wondering how it will be. Okay, corridors and the room I had were not really modern, but I can't complain at all about this hotel. Staff was really friendly, breakfast available even earlier as indicated and the room was clean. What more do I need, I go again to this hotel when in Memphis

We stayed here over Elvis Wwek and had a great stay, never wanted for anything. The motel is over going a major facelift. The outside was getting painted and the whole inside is getting painted and updated. We never heard any noise from the workers all the time we were there. I booked this hotel on the recommendation of a friend, plus it was close to the venue of the concert that I was in town for. Upon arrival, I was informed that the double bed room I reserved had been sold and all I could get was a single bed room. I was slightly irritated as I had my best friend coming in from Nashville to meet me. I had to cancel those plans which really messed up the weekend. This was a good hotel but was undergoing updating. The location was not far from the downtown area and had lots better pricing than the downtown hotels! We were in one of the newly renovated rooms which was nice, but the furniture seemed oversized to the room. We didn't have very much room to pass between the dresser and the end of the bed. All in all it was a good nights rest with an included breakfast!
