I slept was awesome, for the first time in weeks! The beds were comfortable and I loved their pillows - so much that I asked a staff member if they sell them. The hotel updates are great, the staff is very accommodating, and I would definitely stay here again (in fact, already planning another stay in April)!

While staying at the Spearfish-Convention Center on MAR 19th, 2016 we encountered some issues that made our stay miserable. First issue was the PTAC in the room. We turned the air on to cool the room down. That wasn??t working. We called down to the front desk they sent a maintenance man up to our room to fix it. He told us it would need a new thermostat. The maintenance person left and when he came back another person was with him. Explained the other person was new and it wasn??t the thermos... Read more

This is my 10th year here at this hotel and they never let me down. (except for the time they cancelled my reservation due to Delta accident on a plane where we did not check in the day of reservation) This hotel always meets or exceeds my expectations. The bar here and restaurant are out of this world. Food is great and people are very helpful and attentive. Highly recommend this hotel for business or pleasure.

We really enjoyed our stay. We were lucky to be there during a quiet time at the end of winter, with good weather. It was convenient to be able to bring our dogs in directly from outside, and there were good-sized areas where we could walk them. Our room was clean and seemed new, the bed was comfy, and the attached bar was super convenient for right-priced cocktails to take back to the room. Staff were friendly. We will be back.

I highly recommend this property if you are looking for a room in the area. I had a spacious room with a decent view and the bed was like sleeping on clouds. A high quality property. I'd definitely stay here again.

Our room was clean and a good size, and it served its purpose as a stopping point to sleep. Although our room looked out into the pool area courtyard, it was very quiet and we had no problems with privacy. Great proximity to Mount Rushmore and as a plus it is right off of interstate 90.

Clean rooms and friendly, helpful & accommodating staff. Attended a conference and stayed at the hotel. Had a great experience both with the hotel and convention center. Comfortable beds as well! Only downside is no continental breakfast, only a restaurant. Would stay here again and encourage others to do so as well!

The hotel itself appears to be rather old, my wife's words when we walked in were that this is an "old-fashioned hotel". So, if you are expecting modern and trendy, this is not your place (with the exception of the restaurant, which appears newer). However, despite the age, everything is clean, functional, and well maintained. What really puts this place above is the staff though. Check in was quick and easy. My IHG Platinum status was acknowledged and we were upgraded to a pool-view suite wi... Read more

I stayed here during the Leading Ladies Half Marathon weekend August 2015. This hotel is a Holiday Inn, with a convention center also. The hotel is clean, and quiet. I slept well. The restaurant/bar which is accessible from the lobby, is great! This restaurant could be a stand alone restaurant and do well. Servings are large, food is home-made. The people are polite and helpful, especially the front desk. One can ask directions, etc from the front desk. The hotel is convenient to exploring t... Read more

The whole hotel was very clean and the beds here are SO comfortable. The staff was very friendly. We stayed the weekend after memorial day so it was very quiet and there weren't many people there. We relaxed in one of the two hot tubs and were too tired to go in the pool but it looked wonderful. We had a great stay and will definitely stay again next year on our way to North Dakota

Stayed for 2 nights at this hotel. Pros: Staff was very friendly and helpful. Rooms/hotel was clean as well. It was a huge place, and had a decent size pool and 2 hot tubs (which I did not use). Cons: This holiday in does not offer breakfast, you can order room service, or go elsewhere, which is what we ended up doing. Also, as stated before, this is a pretty big hotel, and has 2 floors, but only on elevator for whole hotel, which can make it a hike to your room. But there are stairs all arou... Read more

Grandson's 10&13 traveled with us and loved the pool. We were spending a lot of time with family in the area and seeing sights like Custer State Park and Mount Rushmore. Location was perfect and the room was most comfortable with double king beds. Especially appreciated it being a pet friendly property. Lots of good eateries nearby. We would definitely stay again property s easy access on and off I-90.

Stayed at the HI-Spearfish for the first time in 11 years and was shocked with the nice upgrades to the rooms. They are brighter and more 21st century oriented. Didn't have a chance to try the restaurant this time around but will next time.

We were not impressed--rude staff, room was ok but very dated. Found HAIR all over in the AM when I actually spent more than 2 minutes in the shower area--we were sadly disappointed. The and I was just FURIOUS to not have been warned the pool heater was on the fritz. I am a water walker and plan my trips to do so --I tell you that is WRONG to not tell guests when they check in -- pool is broken --had I have had small children I would have really raised heck. Halls are so over A/C and musty.

I've stayed at quite a few updated Holiday Inns and this was one of the best I've seen. Even the exterior and parking lot looked new. The room was clean and modern. If you really looked hard, you can find signs of age - but that just shows how much effort went into the renovations. It should be noted the staff was also helpful and friendly. Great hotel overall!

We had a poolside room on the second floor. There were two entrances into the room which was odd. The room itself was small and outdated. Nothing overly exciting about it. The pool was FRIGID cold!!!!!! I see that was a prior complaint and it is clear it is not fixed yet. The hot tub was unbelievably hot...my son called it the "witches cauldron". Really disappointing after a day of hiking in the hills. The hotel has laundry facilities which we used. Those were very convenient. Staff w... Read more

We stayed here on 7/11 in a king poolside room. The desk agent this evening was very polite and attentive. I felt like the extra money we spent was worth it, just upon entering and being greeted in such a nice manner. We had purchased the $7 add on breakfast, which turned out to be worth $20! What a nice surprise! The restaurant entrance was right off the lobby which made it very accessible. The room was beautiful and very clean. After a full day of travel, we were looking forward to relaxing by the pool while our kids spent the evening swimming. After checking in and unloading our vehicle, we went to the pool and noticed we had it to ourselves. Nice...but there was a reason for that. Our kids immediately said it was freezing. I thought they were exaggerating, so I gave it a try. It was like jumping into a lake in early winter. We brought this to the attention of hotel staff and it turns out the heater had been out for a... Read more

We are IMG credit card holders so we're stacking up 5x points as we travel across the US. This has been the best card and, as Platinum members, we were upgraded to a suite. Even without the upgrade the hotel is excellent. New, modern with the best mattress I've gotten so far. Keurig coffee machine and fridge, microwave, etc. Free wifi for Internet and flat screen with premium movie channels. Excellent staff in both hotel and restaurant. A+++

Had to be in spearfish for a week. Booked a few rooms here. The staff was nice. Room was a typical older holiday in. With newer beds and interior. I had a pool facing room. Which is nothing special. The place was clean. Always seem to working on stuff. Being the rally place was slammed staff handled great. Would stay again!!

The Holiday Inn at Spearfish is somewhat removed from major Blackhills attractions but a more reasonable hotel price is the trade off. The room was clean. The pool was larger than what I've seen at other hotels and kids will definitely enjoy it. The staff was extremely professional and very accommodating. As far as site seeing, the drive through Spearfish Canyon makes the trip to Mount Rushmore about a half hour or more longer, but very beautiful. Great location if part of your plans are to... Staff was great. Room was ok but carpet was atrocious. Would not stay again without them upgrading the rooms. Even the hallway carpet looks old and worn. Which is fine I guess, but in the room they were stained. Food in the Lucky 13 was so so. Not great. Service was a little slow.

This is a nice, large hotel attached to Convention Center. Large pool area and game room that we weren't interested to use. Luck 13 restaurant and bar were nice. Friendly staff. Evening weather was terrific for dinner in outside patio (non-smoking, great). Comfortable beds. Only complaint is room noise. Not from the pool, but air conditioner plus unknown mechanical start-stop vibration. Was not the elevator. Didn't bother my wife and I managed with earplugs.

The room was clean, beds comfortable, everything we needed. The location right off of I-90 makes the hotel very easy to find. The front desk staff was outstanding! Lucky's 13 (the bar/restaurant on site) was fun - the breakfast service was pretty darned slow, but staff was pleasant and the food was really good. There is also an Apple Bees within walking distance which adds another option for those who would like to have an adult beverage and don't wish to drive.

I called from the road to see if they had a room. Was placed on hold for a long time but so glad I stuck it out. Spoke with Jack. He was professional and courteous. When I arrived to check in a couple of hours later he called me by name and asked about my plans. He recommended a drive through Spearfish Canyon which wasn't even on my radar. It was BEAUTIFUL. Thank you, Jack. You made my stay in Spearfish!

The hotel itself is centrally located. The cost was appropriate. There was a shuttle available for a small fee, which is a great convenience, however we were told by the staff in the morning that the shuttle would be able to take us to and from a wedding at a local ranch (which was less miles away than deadwood which the shuttle was more than willing and able to take people back and forth to) and when it was time to go to the wedding we were told no, the shuttle doesn't go there. Stayed here with our kids and they went swimming for a few minutes before the pool closed down. If you get an inside room with a pool view it's so handy with kids and if you get an outside room on the main floor you get an outside door which is nice also with kids. There is no continental breakfast which was very disappointing but there is a restaurant.
