Don't expect this location to treat you in any way special if you are a priority club member. The property is great, but the staff leaves a lot to be desired and they were overpriced for the time we were there.

Hotel is conveniently located off I90 and looks newish or at least recently remodeled. The clerk greeted us as a Spire member at check-in and we were given a complimentary upgrade to a larger room. The room was spacious and the beds were comfortable. We were given wristbands to use the pool area which was interesting as we have stayed at a lot of HIE hotels and have not needed wristbands before. We found out when we went to the pool and saw the great waterslide. Definitely recommend. The... Read more

I called into hotel as I was driving in on interstate. Staff member located 2 rooms for my stay and had everything waiting for me as I arrived. Being that I had to be a wedding at 2 pm and I checked in by 12:30pm, this made my day and was a great pleasure. I wish all hotels operated like this!

Just be aware the slide on the pool is only open if they have a lifeguard so be cautious if your kids are thinking its open. Other than that , great comfortable rooms as expected with holiday inn brand. Good breakfast also

Stayed here 2 nights in late May, 2016. First, there are not a lot of options in Mitchell, SD. I would say, that this would be one of the nicer hotels in the area. Rooms were nicely appointed, while shampoo and soap were a bit lacking. I guess I prefer an abundance of toiletries and could have asked for more, but prefer when they are already in the room. Wifi was a bit spotty - kept getting kicked off and having to re-enter the pass code. It was free, but a bit of a hassle to stay on-line.... Read more

We got the last room with a late evening arrival. It was a queen suite - nice, comfortable and clean. I am not generally a fan of the typical breakfast found in this type of hotel, but we managed and went on our way. The hotel is visible from the highway and is easy to get to.

If you are heading west on I-90, Mitchell is the last developed city for 300+ miles. There are plenty of decent food choices nearby. A few walking distance. This hotel is well cared for, the staff is nice. Weekend breakfast is at 7. Pretty inconvenient of you want to get an early start. We did not use the pool, but our room was quiet, even though the hotel was full of families with kids.

This was our 4th or 5th time staying in this hotel. This visit was unfortunately to attend a family funeral in Mitchell. My mother in law booked 12 rooms for out of town guests. As always the hotel was extremely clean and the staff is always helpful and friendly. We all gathered in the pool area so the kids could enjoy the water slide and made the most of a sad occasion. Thanks to the Holiday Inn Express for always offering a nice clean room with smiling faces for very reasonable prices. W... Read more

We had road troubles and had to cancel one reservation in Sioux Falls and get a hotel in Mitchell. The staff was very pleasant and check-in was a breeze. They recommended a near by restaurant to get dinner and a drink. Didn't have a huge interaction with anyone else. They offered a breakfast and while we did not eat, it looked good and the coffee was great.

We loved this hotel and stopped both on the way to Rapid City and on the way back. It was a little crowded the first time due to a softball tournament but the second stay was a lot quieter. The pool is very fun with a little kids slide area as well as a large water slide. It could use a little facelift but is lots of fun. The breakfast in the morning was great and the staff super happy. Very clean and I was impressed how the sofa bed pulled opened and was all set and ready to go. Would stay here... Read more

Just one night passing through SD. Excellent staff and the quality of the hotel was in-line with much higher priced hotels. Beds and linens were VERY comfortable. Great pool with large waterslide. Breakfast included a good selection of food with plenty of seating area. The doors were solid and you could tell there was a lot more insulation than in a Super 8, which we were just in the night before. Would recommend and would stay there again. The only drawback was lack of mini-fridge, but the staf... Read more

Our family of four was driving through from Chicago to the Black Hills South Dakota and stopped at this hotel overnight. We had a two queen suite with a sleeper sofa. Room was spotless and beautifully decorated. Hotel also has a pool with a slide. My kids enjoyed it but did complain that the water was kind of yucky but that was to be expected since there were so many other kids in there earlier in the day. The breakfast we had in the morning was outstanding. Overall very satisfied.

Our family stopped at the Holiday Inn Express for one night on the way to the Black Hills. We had no complaints, was a very positive experience overall. Everything was clean and neat, which is our most important criteria. We also preferred a hotel that didn't allow pets (allergies), it's amazing how many hotels in South Dakota are pet friendly. There was a nice breakfast and very comfortable eating area. The pool had a water slide, which the kids loved ( although it could definitely use some ne... Read more

We were in the process of moving back to Canada. We were on the road and the driver of our moving truck was crossing the border and needed some important documents that he did not have. The staff at the hotel were very helpful with helping me get him out documents. They certainly helped relieve some stress during a stressful time.

We were on vacation and passing between the Mt. Rushmore area and Minneapolis. This area looked like a good stopping point, and we booked this hotel based on reviews on Trip Advisor. The reviews turned out to be exactly spot-on! Being that we have grown children, seeing attached water parks always give us thoughts of kids running through the place screaming and yelling, but we observed NONE of that, and were also surprised to see TWO lifeguards on duty when we walked past the pool - good idea... Nice clean room, easy to find and close to everything in Mitchell. Overnight stay on our way to the black hills. Kids loved the waterside at the hotel and staff was very friendly. One complaint - arrived around 3pm and it's now 10pm and room won't get colder than 70 degrees. My kids aren't arguing but I like 65-67 degrees so I'm a little disappointed but all in, a nice place. Our party of two adults and one 12 year old child stayed in a king suite, sofa sleeper room. We were very pleased with the spacious suite. Nice bedding. The sofa sleeper was adequate comfort for a 12 year old. The bathroom was roomy enough to spread out all the toiletries. There was plenty of room near the door to set up the ironing board and move about the room. Great room for a 1 night stay during return trip from Rapid City, SD.

Staff we helpful and friendly. We really enjoyed the free breakfast. But our favorite was the pool and slide area. WE LOVED IT! Traveling with another couple, our rooms overlooked the indoor pool. The water tube always had kids swirling through it, giggling the whole way down. Though there were many, many youngsters and some babies, noise didn't present a problem...it was a full hotel. We didn't like the "soft" pillows-still too hard and big. Bed was comfy. Bathroom was large and well-lit.. Room lighting was excellent. Breakfast was Holiday Inn typical with food selections constantly refreshed. Nice staff=nice stay!

This is a very nice Holiday Inn Express! Super clean and fresh facility. As a late arrival after driving over 650 miles to arrive at this hotel for the evening, the front desk check-in was quick and efficient. Our room was very clean and tidy. The bed was comfortable and not too firm. We are very picky on clean up-to-date bathrooms... This one was OUTSTANDING with ceramic tile and granite-type countertops! This establishment is close to the expressway on the east side of Mitchell. Rooms are clean and comfortable and the desk clerk was able to provide directions to several restaurants nearby.
