Stayed at this property just before they closed for the 2015 season. Friendly and helpful front desk, excellent room, and pretty typical but nice breakfast. Breakfast area is large and not as cramped as many. Nice fireplace in dining area. The common areas just seem to be more nicely done than at many properties in this price range. Plenty of parking. Will stay here again next time we're in the area.

we have 2 small kids and wanted to be near town. this location put us within striking distance of both daytime activities and evening eats and energy. the rooms were clean, service pleasing and price competitive. the breakfast is the usual holiday inn express fare so don't expect any new items there but still, with the "norm" you get value and the kids have options.

This is a really excellent hotel! I have stayed at a lot of HI Expresses, and there is just something special about this one. The lobby is gorgeous. Not like Ritz Carlton gorgeous, but rustic, friendly and very warm. I have never honestly utilized public spaces in the hotels I've stayed in, but on a very quiet Friday evening, my husband and i enjoyed spending some time by the beautiful fireplace. The staff was incredibly welcoming and friendly. The room was great, and after a nice day of zip... Read more

I have not stayed in a Holiday Inn for at least 10 years. I selected this one for our Mt. Rushmore/Black Hills visit from other reviews. I was delighted! The room was very nice and clean. It was fully equipped. We had a nice view out the back. The HVAC unit had a low level fan so we had no problems with noise. It was about 15 minutes to the Crazy Horse Memorial, 10 to Custer State Park, 35 to Mt. Rushmore and 15 to the Jewel Cave. We stayed 3 nights and would have been happy to stay longer. T... Read more

We started our children's summer vacation out with a trip to Mount Rushmore. Holiday Inn is usually one of our top picks in hotels because of their family friendly environment and budget friendly prices. I have to say, of all the Holiday Inn's that we have visited this one is by far the best one. The staff is helpful and friendly, the hotel is well maintained and what's not to like about the free breakfast! This has made our family vacation a memorable one!

This is one of the best hotels I've stayed in! Staff was friendly, rooms were clean, the hotel was quiet, breakfast was good, and we loved having a balcony. We didn't use the pool or fitness center so I can't comment on those amenities. It was pretty pricey but a nice hotel in the Black Hills during peak season isn't going to be cheap. I'd definitely recommend this hotel!

Hotel is located at the very edge of town, still close by attractions and amenities, but outside of the craziness of the downtown area. Absolutely beautiful hotel! Really lovely design with a pretty landscaped waterfall at the rear of the hotel. Our room was lovely. It was a clean, large, comfortable room. The pool area was sufficient, but very dark. The breakfast area was huge and the offerings were awesome. It ended up being a very busy breakfast, the whole area was packed.

This was our first trip to the area. Without anything but Trip Advisor to go by, we figured the Holiday Inn Express was the sure bet, and it didn't disappoint. Custer is a small town with everything being quick and easy to get to. The HIE is on the edge of town, in between two other similar sized and styled chain motels. This place was really nice. Breakfast was great. Close to different activities in the area. Staff was friendly, room was clean. It was a very quiet hotel which was really good when you are exhausted from sight seeing all day

This was our third stay at this Holiday Inn Express. This hotel is very clean, has a great staff, and they serve up a wonderful breakfast. They have a nice fitness room and a good sized swimming pool and hot tub. Great location too as it serves as a great home base for day trips to Custer State Park, Mount Rushmore and Hot Springs, SD.
