Very difficult place to summarize. This is one of the very few remaining Hampton Inns that is really a Motel with all the drawbacks: room doors that open to the outdoors (read mosquitoes), thin walls (read your cell-phone calls are public and so are your neighbors'), old plumbing (hear here), guests smoking (and coughing) outside your door and (strangely) no hard-wired internet. OTOH, the breakfast is top-notch, the people are wonderful, the bed was comfortable and they not only still serve afte... Read more

This hotel is not up to Hampton Inn standards. Needs serious updating or tear down. The staff were great and the breakfast was wonderful. The room was not very clean and the dust rufell on the bed was filthy. Bathroom corners need serious attention. I was told that a new hotel is forthcoming so we look forward to staying there next year on on trip north. If new hotel is not built we would find another hotel in the area.

We stayed in mid May which is a little late for migrating snowbirds such as us but the hotel was doing a good business for a Thursday night. True, it is older and a bit shopworn though our room was adequate, appeared clean and had decent beds. I actually like the old style where we can park right in front of the room and move your stuff in conveniently and keep a close watch on your car. Downsides included a lack of refrigerator and a toilet bowl so low it looks like a bedpan on the floor. Up... Read more

I stayed here on business in April, 2016. The front desk team was very personable and I found them welcoming. The property is dated, and 100% outside access. The room was perfectly suitable, but didn't have many of the creature comforts of newer properties. The wi-fi was quite slow, but that is a Hilton chain problem, not property specific. I'll likely stay here again because it's the only HHonors property in the area.

Just what I needed a clean room, nice friendly staff and a good breakfast. And the free cookies and coffee are always appreciated. So trip advisor why does this have to be 200 hundred characters. Well here you go lots of characters if you are going to be a pain in the butt about how many characters this is what you get. Geez is this grade school?

Things I liked: location off I95, cheesecake, night light in bath area. And that ends it. This is an old motel. The biggest problem, especially for an overweight, disabled veteran with bad knees, is that this is a two story building, rooms on the outside, about 300-350 feet long with one elevator on one side of the building. Which means, if your on the opposite end (like me), your choice is either schlep you and you bags up the stairs, or ride the elevator and hoof it 300-350 feet to your room... Read more

Until today I was always willing to pay the extra for Hampton to get a reliable, quality product. Usually nice clean entry, internal hall and large nice rooms with a central type air handling instead of the noisy window unit. Even if this was not a well worn dump, I would still give it a 2 star for totally failing to meet any of the items I mentions about. The Days Inn next door has the same outside entrance with people walking by your window costantly, but at least it is new and clean. I feel r... Read more

This is a Hampton Inn Hotel in name only! It is an overpriced Quality Inn-at best-with Hampton Inn prices. The front desk was rude and and the rooms were average. The "motel" has no indoor corridor and the carpet was old and dirty. Hampton Inn MUST strip the name away from this overpriced motel.

On long trips, this is a go to for overnight to break up the trip. The hotel is always clean, which makes up for its dated rooms. For a small town, and with the amount of off the interstate traffic, they do a good job keeping this hotel clean. The breakfast lady always remembers us and is a sweetheart. The plus to this hotel being old is that you never hear the people stomping around above you as in the newly built hotels.

Hampton stay in north carolina was very disappointing. The major reason for staying at a hot/motel is to get a good nights rest . Unfortunately, this Hampton in Walterboro did not allow me to do this. The main reason is that the bedding had an obnoxious smell. Sleeping in a barn may have been better. Also, the rooms did not have an interior entrance. On the plus side the hotel personnel were pleasant and helpful and the breakfast was better than average. I would not stay in this hotel again.

Choose another if you can not the best value for the price. Not conducive the elderly because only one level of outside rooms and have to walk outside to get to dining room or if on second floor with an elevator still have to be able to walk some distance. Elevator traffic goes right through dining area which can present obstacles when busy. Rooms small. No fan in bathroom. Only one sink.

We always stay at Hampton Inns when we travel. This property was more a motel than a hotel. Air conditioning was not functioning properly. Could not get the temperature lower than 74 degrees which was horrible. We asked to have a fridge put in the room. It was so small that the contents of the cooler wouldn't even fit into it. My fault, I didn't look at pictures etc. when I booked this "hotel". Why? Because I have stayed in many many (I am a Diamond member) Hampton Inns over the years, and I expect a certain standard. Only one single time before have I stayed in a Hampton Inn which was a motel. OK, so apparently they are building a new hotel, but that doesn't help me now. So based on the tripadvisor rating, tonight I am staying at the Econolodge. For a lot less money than Hampton Inn.

We stay in a lot of Hampton's and are pleased with most of them, but this one was remarkably dated and musty. The location is on the unpleasant side as well. We knew it was at an interstate exit, but no sidewalks and heavy traffic cut it off from even the nominally nearby restaurants. Cramped breakfast room is typical of Hampton's of 25 years ago. We have been staying here for years when going back and forth from South Florida. So welcoming, spotless and really nice breakfast. We try not to stay anywhere else. Pillows and bed are so comfortable.

Very pleased. Clean, quiet, friendly staff, comfy bed and pillows. Good complimentary breakfast. Room faced a wooded area, which was nice. Not in a high traffic area, so no road noise. Highly recommend.

My wife and I as well as several family members stayed in 2 rooms at this motel recently. The motel is on the older-side, however it is well kept. The rooms were clean and comfortable and fitted our needs during our trip to Disney. The morning breakfast had many hot and cold options. The price of the room was reasonable. The staff was positive and helpful.

Easy to and from I 95, very friendly staff, great breakfast, clean rooms, toiletries and coffee supplies ample. At 5pm daily, fresh baked cookies and pies were available. The dining are always had fresh coffee and hot chocolate were hit especially after the sunset and temperature quickly went down to the forties. Also a new Hampton Inn is being built just across the street!

They have a a new Hampton right next to the Cracker Barrel that won't open until approximately February 2017. The building we stayed in was the very old style where you walk outside to your room and park near your door. Motor lodge. This seems very unusual to us. We were concerned when we pulled up. However, the employees were very friendly. They had cookies and pie! in addition to the welcoming coffee. The room was clean. The sink area was outside the bathroom. I'm mentioning this because I d... Read more

nice staff, clean hotel, good breakfast. I enjoy the location right off the highway, decent price cheaper than the Holiday Inn Express right across the street by $25. I would stop there again. Hampton Inn also has a new hotel being built around the corner.

After driving 11 hours we were looking forward to our stay at the Hampton. When we pulled up what we found was a re-purposed old motel with outside rooms posing as a Hampton. The entrance even had a night window with a metal drawer for late reservations as you entered. The room smelled, the mattress shot, bugs in the bathroom, and the room noisy from guests in the parking lot. The only redeeming part of the visit was the cheerful breakfast attendant who was wonderful. The hotel has Hampton rate... Read more

This is an old motel with the access from the outside only. It has to be the lowest quality place I've ever stayed at with the Hampton Inn name. The sheets came out in 3 of the 4 corners, which made the bed uncomfortable. The heater was excessively loud. This was a $50-$60 hotel not the price we paid. The only saving grace was the breakfast and attendant was worth it. It is right on the highway and at times it sounded like the trucks were coming right through the room

Have never stayed at a bad Hampton Inn. This was a nice hotel, clean rooms and friendly staff. We always try to time our trip where we stop in South Carolina, the people seem friendlier and the prices more reasonable.
