"We bought our reservations through Groupon which stated that our room had a view of the ocean. Room has a view of the building directly in front of it and about a 30 foot wall on the right of the balcony. My husband and I both went on the balcony and looked and you couldn't even see the ocean. I insisted that they give us a room with a view for the price we paid. They insisted on charging us extra.
The manager insisted that she had stayed in that room and could see the ocean. I couldn't believe that she would lie right to my face. We get to our room, the TV had no signal and the curtains were falling off of the wall and wouldn't close and the balcony door would not lock...good thing we were on the 5th floor. The rates may have been fairly cheap, but the building definitely needs some TLC and they need a managerial staff that will uphold their advertisements truthfully."

"We stayed in an updated ocean view room which was spacious; however the double beds were borderline twins and one of them was uncomfortable to sleep in. Although not very secure (as you park at your own risk) the garage is attached to the hotel via the lobby which is convenient. The staff were courteous; however, they did not 'offer' any information. The hotel has a lot of potential due to the onsite restaurant and bar and ample outside lounge areas. There are 4 elevators and 1 was out of service; however, there were no issues with waiting for an elevator."

"FILTHY!!!! I am pretty easy to please, but this experience was disappointing. "The hotel was great except for the elevators in garage being broke and one inside. Also the place to turn around, check in and parking garage were a mess to get in and out of. "I did not get a ocean front room, for which I paid for. The maid never took the trash out. We never got the right amount of bath towels. Only one bed was made each day. Vans with carriers were to park on the first level, where signs were posted. Cars took those spots and I had to remove my carrier and park on the fifth floor. The management never checked the parking as they said they would.The elevators did not work in the parking area.so we had to walk down five flights of steps. I would never stay there again."

"The hotel said it was updated in 2010, and looked like years before that.There were signs that said sorry for the inconvienence, were renovating. It could have been from 2010. The parking garage elevator was broke the whole time we stayed,(four days),I went into the lobby bathroom and it was flooded with the urinals overflowing. The pictures were misleading regarding the rooms. Our patio door facing the ocean could barely be opened or closed. Need I go further. We would not stay there again !!"

"Stayed there from Tuesday thru Saturday and housekeeping never cleaned our room. Shower was dirty! Only left towels! Balcony was filthy due to people above us throwing their cigarettes, trash, shoes towels and beer on it. Really the only good thing I would say about the place is, They did have live karaoke and it was great, the bartender made the best drinks I think I've ever had!!!!!"

"The Hotel was very nice for the price and seeing that it is located directly on the Beach even more so. there are no ocean Views with Balcony only Ocean front. Our room that we paid extra for with the Balcony with Ocean View had a Pool and a Dumpster to view. I spoke with the Mgr and explained and showed him the print out of what I paid for and we worked it out. It was great place to stay and would defiantely go back there again"

"Sun & Sands was a great Resort located right on the beach. Room was clean and comfy. View of the ocean was amazing. Its not the top resort on the strip but well worth the value. Some floors were under construction but nothing was too loud that bothered us. Easy access to the beach. The hotel pool area, both inside and out, could use some TLC. The exhaust fan in the bathroom not working was the only major thing wrong in the room. I would book again at Sun-N-Sand because it was off the path a little bit and quiet."

"Totally not happy with this resort!!! Those pictures that they posted are deceiving!!! Where do i start?! As soon as we got out of garage, we saw water in the elevator and towels all over the floor. Definitely not a good sign.When we were checking in they could not find our reservation. Fortunately it was quickly resolved. After we got checked in we got into the elevator. The elevator had someones shoes and a toilet plunger in it. Room was NASTY!!! Carpets were stained throughout the room, toilet seat and a bath tub had some yellow stains on it, and the room had a weird odor. There is nothing better then a clean sheets and fluffy pillows in the hotel, but this one had neither. Pillows were very thin, and the sheets smelled dirty. We slept on top of the covers, and we used our clothes to put our heads on. We had a 6 month old Daughter with us, and we had to make sure that she does not touch sheets or covers. The view was the best thing, but it is not worth it if you cannot get a good night sleep. Luckily we only stayed there for one night. We will never book there again, nor we will recommend this resort to any our friends or family."

"The staff was excellent! They were friendly, helpful, courteous, and well managed. The cleaning staff was friendly as well. The restaurant at the hotel was wonderful! The waitress was so friendly. Food was great and very affordable. When we arrived at our room, the room looked very dirty. Bad stains on the carpet, stains on the bed, etc. We asked for another room and that was MUCH better! The resort is an older resort. The carpet certainly needs to be replaced and the rooms need to be be updated to make it a little nicer. The beds were okay - nothing to brag about. Very basic, standard room. A coffee pot is much needed. The soap and lotions were very small."

"My fiancé and I stayed this past Friday through Sunday. We enjoyed our stay. Before we arrived, I had read some of the reviews and frankly, got a bit worried. Some reviews said they had issues with this hotel honoring reservations through online engines and giving them "downgraded... rooms than what they paid for. In preparation to dispute such situations, I read the SC lodging statutes just in case but it wasn't needed. I was given the oceanfront double in which I paid in full for without issues. The lady at the front desk was beyond amazing and helpful. She definitely deserves a raise. When we checked out, she apologized for any noise or disturbances that we may have heard during the last night of our stay due to a bunch of rowdy college kids, which is not the hotel's fault. They deserve to have a good time too, so we didn't mind much. The indoor pool was closed during our stay for renovations. This was a slight inconvenience (but it was for improvements so, once again, we didn't mind) as the water in the outdoor pool was still cool, far from desirable to swim in but the hot tub was warm and open. The hot tub did not have jets though. The lobby was nicely decorated, smelled wonderful, and clean. They also played music that is popular now, which was very different from any other place I have ever stayed; it was nice. The elevators were slow, warm, and a few times had trash on the ground but that is from other disrespectful guests, not the hotel staff, and was always cleaned up before my next trip in the elevator. The beds were hard and kind of noisy. The comforter was comfy but had a few stains on it. This also wasn't truly a problem because we all know how hard it is to keep anything white forever. The light in the entryway in our room did not work but that also isn't a big deal. The bathroom was small, the shower curtain was completely nonfunctional, practically useless because it did not keep any water in the shower, and the toilet seat looked as though it had been ran over by a Mac truck several times but it was clean. The refrigerator didn't stay cool. The carpets throughout the hotel were stained but I was told by the front desk that they are doing renovations and the carpets will be replaced as well as the elevators. Parking deck had plenty of space and was easily assessable beginning connected to the hotel. I'm not snobbish and don't mind the occasional corner dust. I will recommend this hotel and I will return."

"When looking at the photos this resort looks very nice. Upon arrival we had to wait till 4 pm for some of our rooms to check in and the rest had to wait almost an hour more. There was no compensation for the additional wait, also on the second day of our stay there a couple of the elevators broke down, then they also closed the pool and hot tub area for the next 3 days. That was inconvienence since it was windy and cold outside, the kids were not able to enjoy hte pool area. The resturant was not appealing, the food came out cold and no tasty at all. Dont' think I would ever return to this hotel or even suggest it. the rugd in rooms were not very clean, the bedding was not the greatest and our shower leaked the whole time.."

"Overall the experience was great. The Oceanfront rooms with balcony is a must. The rooms are up to date. The guest service could be better. Loud teens/kids that should never be allowed unattended, slamming doors at all hours of the day/night. I booked a room for a few days and added one on, noted this to them months in advance so we could be in the same room throughout our whole visit. Instead we had to move our stuff out and back in hours later. We misunderstood our checkout time instead of them waiting for me to figure out what is going on, the rude front desk associate ran my card through to charge me for another night. The location of the resort is pretty far from the happening event, a few miles give or take."

"My girlfriend and I just got back. We both had the most amazing time. We stayed from Friday night to Sunday. From the second we arrived, the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. They welcomed us and even checked to see if our room was ready so that we could check in early. When we got to our room, we were amazed at how clean and neat things were. We got a two double with ocean view balcony. The only problem (which was not really a problem) is that the bathroom was a bit small. The bar, Zensi, that was attached to the hotel was really fun. You can hang out with people from who are staying in the hotel with you and exchange stories while playing pool and listening to karaoke on Friday and Saturday nights. The parking deck is attached to the hotel as well as a restaurant. The food is good and convenitent. I will DEFINITELY be staying here again."

"lets start by having to put down $150 cash because i didn't come with my credit card and they couldn't use the one i provided to book the trip. next. the pool was sandwiched between two buildings so about 3pm the sun was non existent, when it is 62 degrees out not so good. the room had 3 outlets that didn't work and the maids cleaned and provided service 2 days out of 5. we obtained our own towels the other three. lastly, my daughter had a goose down pillow that the maids took as their own, why I don't know but they siad that if they found it they would send it to us. fat chance. my overall experience left a lot to be desired."

"This was my first time going to Myrtle Beach and wanted a nice room with oceanfront view. My stay was nice. My room was spacious and enough just for me. The rug needs to replaced and I wish that I could have been able to open my balcony door, but they asked you not to leave it opened or ajar. The staff was nice and friendly and liked having a place to eat and get drinks from right at the hotel. Last but not least, I could walk right onto the beach from the hotel! I would stay here again!"

"Location on the beach was a plus. The staff was very friendly. The first night we listened to Karaoke until 2 AM because our room was two floors above the bar. The second night we called the front desk at 2:30 AM as the noise on our floor was very disturbing with doors slamming, loud voices, people yelling etc.We did not find the quietness as advertised. Cleanliness was surface only, as there were cobwebs over the sliding door, mold around the tub faucet, and the rim of the toilet bowl was disgusting. The only chair in the room was filthy and stained to the point we did not want to use it. Breakfast was a disappointment as there was no bread for toast, and no coffee left. As it did not close for another hour there was no need for this. The second morning we did not bother to go."

"The staff was friendly enough, but the excuse that it was spring break did not excuse the excessive noise we experienced both nights we were there. Karaoke, the first night until 2AM, when our room was two floors above the bar was excessive. The second night at 2:30AM we called the front desk as the noise on our floor was intolerable, doors slamming, loud voices, people yelling. We did not find it a quiet stay as others had mentioned. Cleanliness was surface clean as there were cobwebs over the sliding door, mold around the tub faucet and under the rim of the toilet bowl was filthy. The one chair in the room was so dirty and stained we did not want to sit on it. Their continental breakfast lacked staples, such as bread for toast and coffee. We did not return for breakfast the second day of our stay. The location, being on the beach, was the only plus for our stay."

"Great place!! I was a little worried because of the previous reviews so I didnt know what to expect. We were VERY pleased with this hotel and will be coming back in July. The staff was great and very helpful. Even when I asked for more pillows at 12AM, they delivered them with a smile about ten minutes later!!"

"So disappointed. My room with the 'Ocean View' is if I stepped out on the far corner of the balconey and leaned to the right I could see a small part of the ocean thru 2 huge buildings. The weather was in the high 40 so if I wanted to use the indoor pool (which was dirty ) I had to go outside around the back of the building. Our toilet ran everytime an adjoining room flushed and the pipes rattled. The towels and wash clothes were thin and stained. However the staff was friendly and the beds were comfortable. Not planning on going back and would not recommend to anyone."

"I can't say anything bad about this hotel. Yes, this hotel is not new, but it has great views from the balcony and my room was clean and had no structural damages. Yes, the elevators and lobby have an ordor, but it was clean. The rates were great for October. Had beautiful weather. But, If you are hoping to hang out in the bar and grill located here it may or may not be open. It depends on how booked the hotel is at the time. All in all, it was a good hotel and was clean and staff were friendly."

"The hotel is nice, but 2 magnetic cards didn't open my room.
I went 3 times downstairs to the front desk and each time there was no one to help me. I had to wait 10 minutes every single time.
The lady who supposed to be at the front desk, was each time somewhere outside smoking cigarettes. She wasn't polite when I asked her to give me a second key. The rest of my stay was satisfactory."

"This was the worst experience I have had in a longtime. Pictures were very deceiving and hotel was not clean, elevators were not working, ice machines were broken on almost every floor and, staff not friendly. No one to helped you with your luggage! We thought breakfast was included and it wasn't! Would never recommend this place."

"The pool too cold. Sun hardly hit the pool due to its location. The jacuzzi was broke too. Everything in poor repair. Couldn't get housekeeping to clean room or get light bulbs changed in the bathroom. Also need at least 1 mirror in the room besides the bathroom. Overall poor experience!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

"First impression was a bit scary. The landscape was groomed nicely, however when you pulled up to the front doors, the porch was a bit dilapidated. The lobby looked like a college dorm foyer area; very beat up. The staff were mostly very young people, courteous but not dressed professionally. When we arrived, someone pulled the fire alarm and so there was a lot of confusion going on with the fireman showing up. Pictures on the web are deceiving for the amenities. There really isn't any. In the winter, the only water amenity is the inside pool, which is very small, and very difficult to access. Not conducive for enjoyment. No hot tub that I could find. The pool area was pretty old, and it had a musty smell in the air. The charge for a 'Continental breakfast' said it cost $18, and it came with the room...having that in the morning...haven't seen a continental breakfast yet that was work $18; we will see. We called maintenance up to our room about a light switch issue, they showed up in minutes, and they were friendly. Value is amazing for the room. We didn't get the room we initially reserved through bookit; that was disappointing; we wanted ocean view, and got a side view that you really couldn't see the water. Room was newly updated with new furniture, bathrooms nice and clean; bed surprisingly impressive, for this side of town; a nice sleigh bed, with nice thick sheets, and big pillows. If you are looking for a nice room to stay in that is upscale and clean, for a great value then this is the place. If you are looking for extra amenities along with, then don't count on much. Another thing that was a bit difficult. The parking garage is separate from the main building; so you cannot access it once you park...you have to walk down to the first floor and go through the front doors then to the elevators. I would rate Sun-N-Sand Resort at about a 3.5 to 3/75 on a 5 point scale."

"For the price, this is a decent hotel to stay. The room was clean and smoke free. The hotel was quiet and comfortable. The rooms appear newly remodeled. New furniture and rugs. The bathroom also appears newly remodeled. There was some normal wear and tear, except for a chair that appeared to have been damaged by prior tenants in the corner. The is a 200 deposit for damages. We notified the staff immediately of this chair tear in order not to be charged."

"this hotel was great! friendly, helpful and clean!! the view was spectacular, ocean right outside the hotel. far enough from the crowds to get some peace and quiet but close enough for a good time to all the attractions. the things that need improvement are few... no full length mirror in room ( after all you want to be sure you look good for that night on the town ) , i wish there was a table with chairs in the room instead of a desk, there is a small set of patio furniture on the balcony overlooking the ocean though. beds comfy, hot water good, coffee maker microwave mini fridge all good. parking plentiful and on hotel property. overall a fantastic stay would absolutely stay here again. bottom line...nice clean quiet hotel next to all the action!!"
