"Booked an effiency room and paid to upgrade to a better room. The rooms are old and need upgrading , The efficency room was falling apart and you can see the resort is very old. The view was the best thing about this trip. Took my son to the pool early to miss crowd, only to come back to the room with no water for hours! We had to sit and wait with wet hair and a hair dryer that did'nt work because the breaker tripped. Management did'nt even give a comp for breakfast or anything at all. After paying an extra $100 to upgrade to a better room, we were greeted to a dead roach on the floor as soon as you walk inside. They especially liked the bathroom! I think Sands really should take some of the money they collect to upgrade asap!"

"This place was a dump. I have been to so many resorts and a couple of which were in Myrtle Beach, and this place is by far the worst place I have been to. Our room was dirty, appliances were very old and loud, the room was too old and triggered my allergies we specifically asked for a fresher and newer room for health condition. The allergies messed up my vacation and made me miserable because I was up most of the nights not being able to sleep. They had too many people standing at the lobby greeting people and it took them 20 hours to replace our toaster because it smoked. The resort smelled really bad and elevators felt like they were going to fall a part any minute. I really feel bad for the people who have time share with this resort. This resort needs some serious attention. Our room was classified as 'Ocean View' and it actually was a side room where we only saw a little of the ocean view. When I booked my reservation it showed too many free amenities that came with the reservation and when we got there we found out that most of them cost money. And what really hurt about this reservation was that I paid 25% in resort fees and taxes. "

"We had a great ocean front room on the 15th floor, the view was awesome in the morning and evening. The rooms are outdated, but did the job...we didn't spend much time in there as we were out and about. Fireworks display at night were great !!! We took the 10min walk to Apache Pier where we fished at least 6 hours a day, very relaxing. We caught helmet crabs, whittings (gave to the locals), eel and saw a couple of sharks that got hooked. If you plan to stay a few days spend the money and purchase fishing rods, rather then rent them...we did and saved a ton. It was cheap entertainment. Good vibrations show was good. Ocean Sands is very convenently located to shopping and attractions. It was peaceful. I would recommend staying anywhere on the North Beach."

"We stopped in Myrtle Beach on our way back from Florida to spend a couple days with my husbands parents who live there. I felt like I had been transported back to the 70's at the hotel we stayed in! All appliances were extremely outdated and the refrigerator was covered in rust. the cabinet facings were peeling off and a couple doors were barely hanging on. There was a very distinct musty odor to the room. We ended up turning off the AC and sleeping with the the sliding balcony door open. There were only 2 towels in the bathroom. We called for more but they never came. The indoor pool and spa was filthy and the deck around the pool was slimy. The outdoor pool was crystal clear but temperature was just above freezing! The outdoor beach bar and hotel location are its two best features. If a complete remodel is done, this place would be awesome. It's truly a diamond in the ruff!"
