"We had all of our 'good' jewelry stolen from our room while we were out golfing. It was hidden a the bottom of a box and someone looked for it and took it. Our wedding rings, as well as other 14 carat gold jewelry and a diamond ring, were all stolen. DO NOT keep anything valuable, even if it's hidden, in your room. We learned the hard way, and if I can save someone else from going through what we did, at least that would be something good coming from this. Also, we had cockroaches in the bathroom and the kitchen, the floors were filthy, and there was a pile of plaster in the corner that was there when we checked in, and it stayed there all week. Please take our advise and DO NOT STAY HERE. I know the prices are attractive, but that's the ONLY thing attractive about this place.
Room Tip: Don't stay here, pick a better reputable place even if it costs a little more."

"I booked this vacation a couple weeks before Labor Day. I was looking for a nice place to spend the weekend. I will say that the price for the room was decent howeve, the cleanliness of this property is not! The room we had was in deserate need of repair...the carpets are so filthy that if you take yoyr shoes off your feet turn black...the bathroom smelled of urine the entire stay...there were holen in doors...our balconie door did not close completely....the air condition smelled....towels were an issue to get...and the parking is terrible! Some good things about the property are the excellent hot breakfast, the 3 outdoor and 1 indoor pool...the view of the sky wheel and quick walk to the middle of the strip....the view from our room was great over looking the strip...the people were pleasant and helpful...I saw that they are doing some renovations, But they have a LONG way to go! My one strickt criticism is that the pictures are not accurate! They are misleading and should be changed! I will only return if the rooms are renovated fully and the cleanliness is addressed!"

"The hotel was recommended to me by a friend. I will not stay again. The staff was great, but the room was TERRIBLE. The door had a hole in it and you could hardly open or close the door. The refrigerator would not get our drinks cold. The carpet was dirty and it smelled terrible in the hall and room. The bathroom was dirty and only given 1 roll of toilet paper. Never stay there again!"

"When we arrived at the hotel, I was told that we were being given an upgrade.....what a joke!!! The room was oceanfront with a small kitchen. It had a small refrigerator with a microwave and a tiny stove, not much of a kitchen.The bathroom had a leak...water was running down the wall into our bathtub from the floor above. The walls were molded and paint and ceiling were peeling. Before I found this leak, I had called twice for clean towels so we could bathe, three hours later we still did not have towels. I had to go get pool towels for us to use. I took a shower and went to find the manager, I asked what happen to the room we were originally suppose to have....no answer. He did have the maintenance man fix the leak, but this did not fix the mold problem. I was very disgusted with our arrangements and asked for another room and was told there were none availble, although there were people getting rooms that did not have reservations. I would not stay in this run downed hotel again, they really need to take the pictures off the internet. The ad said they had newly renovated rooms.....I do not know where. This hotel needs to be demolished and a new one built. The carpet was so dirty that when you walked barefoot that your feet would be black within minutes and our pillows were sown shut and nasty. The only good thing about the whole stay was the free breakfast."

"I stayed at the Palmetto Shores Oceanfront Resort and got a GREAT deal on my room. When we arrived, we were directed to the Sands Building. After entering the room, I realized what a mistake I had made by purchasing so cheap. After a few moments in the room, we went to the front desk to see if we could be switched to the Waves Building, but they told us we would have to go through our agency, so it was official.......we were staying in the Waves Building for the first night. (At least!) The next morning, we woke up and found BUGS! That was it for us! We called the agency again, but still couldn't reach anyone, so we tried the front desk again.....and the guy gave us another room!! :) We were moved to the Sands Building which was MUCH better! I wasn't expecting a top notch room for the price we payed, but I was expecting a clean room, with no bugs.....and when we were switched, that's exactly what we got! I would definitely stay there again! The staff was super friendly & the hotel had a lot to offer. The free breakfast was a plus as well. The location was great....you could see the skywheel from our hotel! If you're staying, check to see what building you'll be in. If you get the Waves Building.......GO FOR IT! Great price and a great stay! Thanks Palmetto Shores!!!!"

"First of all we had a total of 11guest ranging from a 1yr old to a 81 year old. Check
i in was suppose to be @ 3:00 but it was like 4:45 before we were able to get to our rooms due to not being cleaned. We were on the 5th floor and the elevator only went to the 4th floor so that meant carry all of our luggage up the stairs, the smell was awful, hot in the halls, the bath tub was stopped up and had to be plugged, carpet in the rooms and halls were dirty, there is no need to go any further! We will never ever again stay here!!!!!!!"

Carpets greasy; hallways smelled like skunk or stale smoke (even though we had a non smoking floor); walls paper-thin; a/c deafening; old and dilapidated. The rooms look nothing like the pics. You pay for location and the pools--nothing else."

"first of all we tried to check in to hotel on june 30th for 13 nights... our room was paid in full and we had a hotel confirmation #.. we were told our reservation was not in the computer ,, we traveled 12 and 1/2 hrs .. the hotel told us we could have a room for 3 days for almost the same amount we paid for 13 days. we said no thanks... after waiting the manager said that we have a room ,,, only to get on the elevator with another couple who were in the room they gave us.. down to the desk again... only to be given the room next door... excuse me but before all this they didnt have a room that we could have , and also i asked for a room on the 3 or 4 th floor and i got the 10th floor the top of the building ,, i mentioned to the manager about the lower floors and were told he would give it a try... i grabbed the key cards and siaid im not waiting anymore , i would deal with the height even though i hate heights..... our room was OK, not the cleanest in the world , and tolit ran constantly and water pressure sucked.... and the flood light outside the patio was so bright and attracted bugs, so you could not enjoy the balcony,,,, Room service was fine but sheets only changed once in 13 days.... carpet was dirty and your feet turned black if u were barefoot.... The staff was nice after the initial check in and the cleaning staff were helpful ... as best as they could .... OH BY THE WAY OUR BATHROOM LIGHT BURNED OUT AND OUR HEATLAMP AT THE SAME TIME AND WE WERE TOLD SOON>>> IT TOOK 8 hrs TO GET IT FIXED>

"We stayed at Palmetto Shores over the 4th of July. I got a great price by booking in January but wasn't sure about the hotel at the time. It is definately not a resort. Most of the staff was very nice but one of the girls at the front desk was not nice at all. The rooms weren't horrible by far but the beds were very hard as were the pillows. The hallways weren't very nice and the faucet in the tub never quit running. We stayed in the Sands building and had an oceanfront room but right below the balcony was a kiddie pool and had two mushrooms with water constantly flowing which was rather annoying. On our next to the last night there we killed two roaches in the room. It was a good price by booking early but I will not go back and would never pay the price they wanted for one night extra stay. It was way more than double what I paid. The room was worth probably around 60 dollars a night."

"We stayed at the Palmetto Shores Oceanfront Resort for 7 days. The hotel building we stayed in was obviously the oldest on the lot. We styaed in the Coral building. It needed updated. The kitchen area was very small and only had one sink to wash and rinse dishes in. However, the did supply all the dishes we would need. The bathroom was also very small. On the up side there was a full size fridge! The worst part of the place was the two roaches we saw while we were there. One in our room and the other in the hall on the floor dead. The one in the hall was not vacuumed up until the sixth day of our vacation. That in its self is a red flag to me because it shows how much the cleaning staff cleaned. There was an elevator in the building but you had to carry your bags up one story before you could access an elevator. The elevator was also very old. The plugins on the wall were hanging off and my husband tried numerous times to fix it. The AC worked, but only if you turned it down to 60 degrees and on high. I would not go back to this hotel."

"the overall hotel stay was okay. We had cockroaches in the room and pool. The toilet paper hotel was just about to fall off the wall. Pots and pans had left over water in them. We arrived around 1:30 and the staff mentioned our room was ready. To say the least, it was in the next building that you had to go up a flight of stairs just to get to the elevator and that only went to the 4th floor. Our room was on the 5th floor which meant you had to go up another flight of stairs for that. With my husband having a heart condition I immediately went over and requested another room. The room they did give us wasn't even cleaned from the day before and had to wait another hour for that to be completed. The stairwell going downstairs smelled as if someone had peed in there and no one bothered to clean it."

"Well to start, check in- we arrived at 130pm, and well aware that our room wouldnt be ready until 3pm. A kind lady at fromt deck checked us in took my number and said room will be ready at 3pm also took my number if room was ready sooner. We went, ate and returned at 3pm, we found at least 50 other guests Waiting and visibly upset. Long story short didnt get into room till 445pm. To find dirty bathtub and no waste can in bathroom and what appeared to be a half swept floor. a call was placed and nothing was done, we did get waste can on our fourth day. Called to have sheets changed that was never done. I did get a good rate but not good enough to return again. I will look else where."

"Nasty room, holes in the bathroom wall that were never fixed. Nasty filth at the top of the shower. Floors were not clean. Old bead spread. Balcony had carpet and had a hair ball on it. TV did not come in good. Ice machine never had ice in it. Front desk did not care. Went to the next building to get ice, that was empty. They wanted to charge you 25 cents to get ice! Elevators were slow and always out of service. The only thing that was nice were the pools, Pool bar, and you are on the beach. Maids did not make our bed after the first day, did not change the bed sheets. We did get new towels each day. Only give you one roll of toilet paper until its gone. Cheap tissues. The AC was always cold. I would not stay here again. I will stay at The Breakers hotel next time! Not worth the cheap price!"

"This was a disaster from the start. Went to checkin and room not ready, sd they would put on priority and call when ready and never did. Went back 4 hours later (checked status after 2 hours) and the lobby was mobbed with unhappy customers. Service desk over walmed and nasty. when got to room it was fine but every single day we left room at 8:30 till 4 or 5 to be at beach and our room was never cleaned. Honesty we clean our own room each morning all we need was towels and garbage changed. we had to ask more than once each day for both. One night we did not get fresh towels till 7:40pm!!!! NOT COOL!!!!! I travel all the time for both business and pleasure and if i check out of any other hotel they will hold bags till flight time. Here they would not so out with all our bags and it rained so bad we ended up going to airport 5 hours early and spending our last day there...I have never!!!!! Also someone in my group was on deck one night and there was a roach so we didnt go out there when dark again!!!! Grounds are kept up and other employees were friendly but the employess who need to be friendliest and should be service oriented are not!!!! will never stay again, horrible experience and like i say i travel a lot and have never been so appauled!!!!"

"It was not at all like it had been advertised! False advertisement! It was hard to determine what had been renovated! The first room they put us in was not cleaned! Really don't care to discuss what we found; but trust me, it would have raised the hair on your head! However, after my hubby disscussed it w/the manager, he did up grade us to a better room. "When looking for a hotel for our trip to Myrtle Beach me and my husband wanted to book something cheap so that we would have more money to spend on activities and going out. We weren't expecting the hotel to be all that great. Even though we knew that the hotel was not going to be the best we still expected something out of it. But it ended up being the WORST PLACE EVER! When we were checking in, the lady at the front desk was very unpleasant, we came up to the front desk and she was just standing their doing something on the computer and in about 4 minutes she finally looked up and said 'you checking in?' in a very rude way. She didn't explain anything to us. It was the WORST SERVICE EVER! When we got to our room it was SO DIRTY! I understand that it is not a 5 star hotel but that doesn't mean that it shouldn't be cleaned! There was Hair everywhere! It was so GROSS! The table had crumbs all over it. We went to CVS and got some wipes and I cleaned everything down myself. In the bathroom there was no soap, and no toilet paper, We had to go downstairs and ask for some. One of the towels had fresh lipstick stain on it. The shower was clogged with hair and every time we took a shower, the water would go up to our ankles b/c it couldn't go through b/c of all the hair! I would NOT recommend this place to anyone. We were VERY DISAPPOINTED! Never going there! The only positive thing is that we got free breakfast. "

"Booked this hotel due to the special going on, however, I wish we picked another location. First thing we noticed and was not really a big deal is that you have to walk up a flight of steps before getting to the elevator. (with having a double stroller and the kids, its annoying but we dealt with it - and went on). 2. Unpacked and checked out our interent to discover - we did not have the internet - called front desk and was told had to go to the lobby to use it at the hotel next door. Went on with our day -- so what if we can not get the internet even though it's advertised - we can enjoy the day. 3. We took a walk and we discussed breakfast for in the morning - and we walked into the front desk to find out where it would be at... was told not included in my package. Which I found very odd considering I clearly remember booking the hotel and it stating the internet and the breakfast. Considering at that moment I could not get onto to the internet to discover my emails or information of when i booked. I contacted my Mother - after her finding it the next day - I went to talk to the front desk - (different people and very nice ladies) was told that we did in fact get the breakfast. 4. I failed to mention that when unpacking ( i always breing lysol and spray everything down) I pulled the sheets back and there was hair everywhere. 5. Due to a misfortune with the cell phone meeting the ocean - I needed to contact my Mother - I called the front desk to ask how much the long distance charge was - no one knew. I guess I will find out when I check out tomorrow. 6. Since being here Thursday, our room hasn't been cleaned -- we get new towels, and our beds have been made up maybe a time and a half. the half is for one bed wasn't completely made up but the other bed was.... and the reason we know that its not been cleaned -- our kids brought in a sand bucket and the small amount of sand that has been gathered since then -- is still there. 7. It is bikers week and you can sure tell it with the noise at night, more so with the gap above the balcony door. 8. balcony -- the rails outside they are secured - however, the space is just enough that my youngest ( one year old) daughter could fit though ( she didn't cause we noticed that she could - so we avoided the balcony) Needless to say we will not spend any more money regardless of any special at this hotel"

"Cheers, To start I will say that the room was nice. It was clean and we had a great view. Additionally, I will say that the staff were fine. There were a few issues we had during the stay. The front desk was slow and it took three separate occurrences of standing in line to check-in: 1) pre-check because the room was not ready 2) to get keys to the room and the promised call when the room was ready never happened. 3) to get passes for our 2 breakfasts as they were not offered in the previous visits. One incident with staff that was frustrating was when we tried to watch a video on TV. The TVs or remotes did not have a button to switch to video input to allow for DVD viewing. We called the front desk and they contacted maintenance who called us to tell us that they were to busy and would not assist us. Parking is not fun and it was a difficult to find a place to park. The only other issue with this stay was there were a number of guests that were not fun to be around. There were a number of very intoxicated people, numerous people having very profane laden conversations, parents SCREAMING at their children, children not supervised by parents and a parent / child fight in the parking lot that required security to be called. "I went from Monday to Thursday with my friend and we were very disappointed with the hotel. I know it was cheap and you get what you paid for and all that, but this was the worst stay I have ever had anywhere. We got to the hotel after 3PM (3PM is supposed to be check in time) and they said our room wasn't ready for us and took down our phone number so they could call us when it's ready. We go out back and hang out in the sun but an hour rolls around and we didn't get a call. We go back to the front desk and they said OH your room is ready (gee thanks for the phone call) and we get to our room and the comforter on one of the beds had three yellow stains on it and the sink wasn't clean. Why did we have to wait over an hour for our room when it wasn't like anyone was actually setting it up? When we left to go have dinner we told the guy at the front desk about the room and he said he'd send someone up. We came back three hours later and it was untouched. So we called to complain and finally people came up to clean it. There is no wifi in the room. You may be able to steal somebody else's wifi but it's weak and will probably go out in less than a minute. They say you have to go to the lobby to use it but I didn't even bother. In recent years, I have never stayed at a hotel that didn't have wifi or any type of internet in the rooms. The pool was nice and the location was good but I would NEVER stay here again. I never felt welcome and I was happiest when I wasn't inside the hotel. The staff wasn't friendly and I didn't appreciate anything here. Do MAJOR research before staying in Myrtle Beach (or anywhere). I've learned my lesson."

"Checking in and out was easy. Parking was a pain, not enough parking for rooms. Not the most up to date hotel, but for the price you cannot complain. We were not offered free breakfast, although it seems like most other guest were. Hotel is close to the boardwalk and walking distances from many of the attractions. No wi fi in rooms, only in lobby. Staff friendly."

"I loved the hotel it was very clean and the staff were great. The parking was another story though. I am an amputee and not able to walk very far without extreme pain. The parking lot at the hotel was absolutely TERRIBLE! There are four or five handicap parking places and four or five 15 minute parking places. They have a parking lot across the road, but they are first come. They do not have the same amount of parking places as they do rooms, so I had to walk 1/2 a mile to the hotel from the nearest parking space. As we were leaving we seen two people leaving that were parked in the handicapped parking and they were perfectly able. I loved this hotel all but the parking. If they would make scan the people in the handicap spaces or at least make more handicap parking in their other parking lots. There is no reason for a handicapped people to have to walk 1/2 a mile away because of parking problems. I would recommend this hotel to anyone, but mention the horrible parking. I would definitely not go back unless they fix the handicap parking issues."

"We had to go to the lobby to get the internet because it isn't available any where else in the hotel... the front desk staff dont seem to like you hanging out in the lobby for long periods... during the day if you are in the lobby there is a timeshare person pushing you to take a tour... if you want to buy tickets to an attraction that are offered by the front desk you have to wait until the manager comes in at 2 in the afternoon to purchase these tickets wasting half a day of your vacation... all around the worst hotel I have ever stayed at... do not let the cheap price draw you in... spend a bit more and stay at one of the other hotels in the area..."

"The hotel looks alot better on line. It is NOT a RESORT just an OLD hotel. Our first room the door was broken and would not open. The maintenance man attempted to open the steel door by kicking it several times, telling us it would be ok when he got it open. We said NO THANKS we want a room we can get in and out of. The safe would not work we called for the maintenance man to come and KICK it for us but he never showed up the entire 4 days. So we had to keep our valuables with us at all times. Did not feel at all comfortable to leave them in the room. Cleaning service was ok we had an efficiency with no dish towels or cloths on our 2 and 3 days to clean our dishes.Not even a trash bag in the can. We were gone all day from 9:00 am until 5:00 pm no cleaning done at all. At 5:30 maids knocked and asked what we needed for our rooms they had NO toilet paper, they gave us a box of facial tissue. I know this was a good deal, but you could atleast expect toilet paper to be included. There were several cars that were broken into the first night we stayed, getting there windows smashed in, in the parking lot. You park across the street in different lots Stay away from the back lot that is where the cars were robbed. "

"My friends and I stayed at Palmetto 'resorts' this past weekend and this place was HORRIBLE!!! Dirty, gross, ghetto. Nothing but loudness around everywhere. Kitchen was dirty, cabinets in bathroom moldy, tub has water that sits in it like 2-3 inches when you're taking a shower, toilet overflowed all in the room. Took maintenance over 20 mins to check out toilet overflowing. Manager was rude and ignorant, and acted as if he didn't care at all. This place is horrible! Should be called the Palmetto Ghetto not Plametto Shores. BEWARE!!!"

"This hotel Palmetto Shores was not a pleasure trip for us. Guest Services are not friendly and could care less if your happy or not! There was a party in the room next to us and the police came and evicted them at 3AM. In the mean times, we had called Guest Services and got no relief. This went on from 10pm -3am! I think we gave them a fair chance to finally settle down but 'kids' were coming and going all hours of the night and slamming door. They trashed the elevator with liquor and beer cups. Have stayed here before but this is the worst time we have been here. Several weeks ago we got stuck in the elevator and had to call for help. They advitise pools and hot tubs..most are not working due to one excuse after another. Price is good but have learned that you get what you pay for and I would rather stay somewhere else then to ever stay there again! I'm not one for bugs and I saw my fair share of them this weekend. They advertise WiFi...liars..not at all do they have it in the lobby. They will tell you to go up the street to another hotel and use their lobby for service. Then there is the guy who stood there waiting to talk to a manager about the 2 roaches in his water glass to show management. UGH! The man who was complaining he had no hot water....lady with dog who almost didnt get to stay as the web site says pet friendly and she booked online. But they did allow her to stay this time. All in all not a good place to stay."

"I had read reviews and was skeptical.I called and the lady was friendly and assures me the reviews are not true.I drive down to Sc we get there aprox2am,am tired and ready to go to sleep,no problem with check in,except I asked the man about the reviews and he also assures me they are untrue I told him I am scared of bugs and wasn't trying to insult him but I have 3kids with me also he says they have palmetto bugs from the trees if I saw anything that is what it would be.My husband and I unloaded the car taking his word for it,walked up a flight of stairs with a pizza,3kids,& all the luggage it takes for a family of 5to stay away from home for 4nights,before we were able to acess the worst elevator on the planet,to the fourth floor,walking down the hall someone opens the door to tell my 3yr old to shut up,get into the room and we start diving in the hot pizza we picked up prior to check in.I turn my head and walking by the phone is a roach!! I got up,packed all our stuff back on backs,shoulders,arms,even had the 3yr old carrying stuff to gt the heck outta there! I tell the guy at the desk and he basically says I am lying and there isn't any roaches in there! I said sir why oh why would I lie to you? I mean really??It is 3am,I am tired,hungry,all I wanna do is go to bed.Why would I unpack my car....go up a unairconditioned flight of stairs...get on the raggediest elevator EVER.....lay all my stuff down...take 2 bites outta my pizza..throw it back in the box...get all my stuff loaded back up...walk back down the stairs with 4days worth of belongings for my family...just to come up here to lie and tell you I inded saw a roach!! How much sense does that really make sir?He said where did you see it? I said by the phone,he said it was a palmetto bug not a roach.I said sir...when is the last time you have been in that room? If ALL of your tenants are telling you this NOT EVERYONE is lying!!I told them man I wasn't blaming him but he really needed to see that it gets attention.He asked me if it was crawling across the ceiling because roaches cannot crawl across the ceiling but palmetto bugs do.I wasn't trying to play is it a roach 101,I told the man at that point although I owed him no explanation that I am a property manager in NC and that what I saw was a roach!! He said I'd be charged for the first night and refunded the remainder but thusfar have yet to be refunded for the other 3nights.The man wasn't mean but very closed minded to fact that his hotel has an infestation of ROACHES there may be a palmetto bug infestation to I do not know.So I guess if your willing to sleep and dine with roaches then by all means honey my room is vacant."

"Booked on line for one price, had to pay more. the staff was very friendly and helpful.The room was not the cleanest, however the view was good.We were awakened every morning at six o'lock sharp by the sounds of a man with a leaf blower cleaning pool area. Also awakened several times by bugs crawling on us. Was not very pleasant at all.Bugs also in the bathroom sink.Parking was TERRIBLE!!! Seems as though all the lots closest to hotel was employees because the cars seemed to have never moved. Had to park what felt like half a mile away. The elevator was very scary,doors would open before it stopped completely. If there was free breakfast, noone told us..The cafe was very expensive.Seemed as though there wasnt enough parking spaces for hotel guests.Do your homework..Other than the leafblower man,the bugs, and having to walk so far for parking, it could have been a nice place. Everyone has different experiences, it was just ruined for us. will not stay here again!"

"We watched the marathon runners which also had the ocean view from our balcony. The Patio Cafe was closed so we did not get complimentary breakfast. We were in the Coral Building which is older and not as modern as the main building. It was however stocked well, clean and a great value."

"The hotel was good for the price we payed. It had free breakfast and free parking. It had flat screen TV. The room they gave us was a good size with kitchen and balcony. Very nice. The down falls are the room service is only to change the towels and do the bed. No vaccuming or cleaning the bathroom sink. When we entered the room it was not completly clean we had to ask for them to finish it. The staff is so nice and prompt to help and the manager is trying to get things right because he just got in that position. Another point is do not expect good internet connection because the rooms don't have it and it is slow."

"I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at this hotel and will definitely return. There was far more to offer than what I paid. I had an oceanfront room with a balcony, dbl beds and kitchenette but yet I received a very good complimentary breakfast at their cafe. I also enjoyed the indoor pool and hot tub. Also during that short stay I enjoyed their exercise room and the internet for free. Now what more could a person ask for at such a low price. I had a great time, one of the best ever!!!"

"The overall stay was nice. The price that we paid was reasonable for the room. We didn't actually stay at Palmetto Shores but booked the room there. But since our room wasnt ready we were able 2 stay at The Alantica which is next to it. We didn't want to leave and come back to reality. The only problem I had was the couch In the living room/dining area needed to be replaced. Other than that my next stay will be here!"
