"My wife, child, and I loved how comfortable the bed is!! The bedroom looked way better than how the outside look. Staffs were nice and friendly. We loved everything about Dayton House Resort.... except one thing... there were people outside talking and laughing all night! Gotten my baby up crying all night with them. But overall we don't mind coming back to Dayton. Loved it there."

"For the first time we stayed in the West Tower across the street. We were concerned about not being oceanfront in a building with a pool or hot tub, but it was not a problem. We had a slightly larger room than the standard room oceanside. The finishes were not as high of quality but it was still very clean and homey. We had a wonderful weekend and both of the hot tubs we used were plenty warm. The indoor pool was warm as well."

"The free breakfast put it over the top!
Room was clean, hotel property was well kept, and the indoor/outdoor pool was warm, even in February with it raining! Spa and Sauna were clean and pleasant, also.
Thougth the breakfast might be some cut rate deal with powdered eggs and microwave sausages, but it was real food served in a real restaurant. The menu that you choose from is just a limited version of their regular menu. Everything came out hot and fresh and the service was great.
Also, not that far from the Boardwalk/Skywheel, so once you park the car you can walk. Makes a difference with the traffic with all the cruisers.

"WOW! Dayton House was recommended by two co-workers.
Room was a 9th floor ocean view efficiency in the South building. View from balcony was incredible -- plus, we could hear the ocean! Beds were comfortable - everything was super clean and fresh.
It is a well kept property . Our room had 2 queen sized beds in front room, plus 2 arm chairs and dining table w/4 chairs. Plenty of lighting. Big screen TV (but no dvd player in our room) There was an in room safe. We didn't have a jacuzzi tub (but didn't need anyways) . . . kitchenette was small galley type appliances in great condition and very, very clean (biggest complaint was lack of drinking glasses larger than juice size and no pitcher for iced tea). . . if you plan on cooking meals might consider bringing your own non stick skillet and basic utensils. Also, microwave is small best for reheating (but may be larger in different room type)
Towels were larger than what we've come to expect and we had plenty. Property was quiet and we didn't hear people next door (except at midnite on New Years Eve but hey, it's a holiday HAPPY NEW YEAR!!) There are numerous well maintained pools, lazy river, etc on property but we didn't use. The exercise room was located in parking garage building across the street from our room, which disappointed my daughter. Walking distance to Pavilion area and many restaurants, and the beach itself was surprisingly wide even at high tide.
Staff was so nice! Welcoming, smiling faces familiar with the area and excellent sources for finding places. We ate breakfast 2 mornings @ Uncle John's and food was good. Eggs were very fresh tasting, real eggs.
We will definitely be back."

"Booked this as a mystery stay with flight, and was a little leery at first......but I have to admit the stay was great......very clean rooms, as well as roomy. "The room was on the back street hotel I asked for Ocean front room and was ask to pay a 150.00 more, also the room they gave me had insects in it and the carpet had burn holes in it and the room was very out of date. I did some reserch and the rooms in the water front area seem very nice and clean, very much up to date. I thought this was going to be a nice place to stay but it turn out to be a horrible unclean smelly burn carpet no plasma TV funky kind of place."

"We enjoyed the pools,snackbar,umbrella tables,the ocean and the awsome fireworks displayed by hotel customers. Our room however was not up to the standards of the grounds. The refrigerator was full of frost and leaking from the freezer to the fridge so we had to use our cooler and my dads refrig in the next room the for our food. They did replace it the next morning . Our airconditioner was very old and kept running constantly and was very dirty but the one in dads room was digital and very up to date. We also had alot of mold on the shower curtain. The TV was a nice flatscreen with a good picture, Kitchen was well equipt with essentials and the beds were comfortable and clean. I would not stay here again or reccommend this hotel only because of the outdated rooms."

"Reviews I read from others helped me choose the Dayton House so I was not surprised that the rooms were in need of some TLC but were for the most part clean and comphy. Kitchen was stocked with everything we would need to prepare and eat our meals, toaster,coffee maker, dishes ,towels ,soap etc. Pools were never to crowded , the grounds are well kept, good food and drinks at the snackbar reasonably priced and was able to charge purchases to our room so no need to carry cash. We never had any problem getting a table with umbrella and the hotel was sold out. This was our first family trip to Myrtle Beach so I would probably try another hotel next time just to compare but I would reccommend this hotel to families with young children."

"My family and I went for a long weekend and had a great time. The hotel is older but has been taken care of. The kids loved the pool and the fact we could go to the beach and then back to the pool quickly. It was hot so we spent all morning and all afternoon in the water. Nice place to stay. "We found the Dayton House to be an excellent choice for our vacation. The staff was very helpful and friendly - we had booked two 'angled ocean view' efficiency rooms. When we checked in, I asked about the view and they told me that if it wasn't up to my expectations, just come back down and they would change our rooms. The 2nd floor didn't offer the best view, so they moved us to the 6th and 7th floors, and the view was excellent. The rooms are older, so don't expect a huge bathroom or state of the art kitchen appointments, but EVERYTHING WAS VERY CLEAN. From the rooms, to the pools, to the grounds, everything was amazingly well cared for. We loved having the grassy area as well as the beautiful beach. Overall, great place, great location, and very relaxing."

"We were very excited to come to Mrytle and was looking forward to staying at the Dayton House since it has many of the amenties that we were looking for. The arcade was something straight out of a garage sale where none of the machines were even functioning properly. All of the pools and lazy river were soooo freezing that the ocean was more welcoming in April. The room was dirty and dated. The kitchen equipment was dirty, grimy and was not inviting at all to use. Finally, the noise. I knew that coming during spring break would have some college kid action, however, it was so loud and disruptive all hours of the night that we didn't sleep for almost two days of our trip. Very disappointed."

"Staff was very friendly. Elevators fast at the suite building. Beautiful view. Even though on the main strip the rooms were very quiet with no outside noise. Only downside was when the balcony door locked when we were outside on the balcony. Fortunately we had a cellphone with us and a maintenance person was immediately dispatched. "We very much enjoyed our stay. This is an older, family run resort well located on a beautiful stretch of Myrtle Beach. The resort seems to be well-kept and the friendly management seemed to care a lot about both the resort and their customers. Very different from my experience with some larger-chain resorts! The rooms were a little dated, but clean and well-maintained with small kitchens (great for fixing lunch and storing cold drinks!). We loved all the different pools attached to the different areas of the resort. As others pointed out, this resort is really a series of different buildings. There's a lawn area with umbrellas and comfy lounge chairs too. We found ourselves spending a lot of time just hanging around the different pools and hot tubs. On a rainy day--we went up to Barefoot landing and Broadway at the Beach for some shopping. Broadway is a short drive up the road. There are plenty of restaurants and shops within walking distance of the road. In fact, we ate breakfast every morning at Uncle John's--a down-home type diner/lunch spot. Great service, very affordable prices! We'll definitely be back to Dayton House!"

"We only stayed in for a few nights. The staff and housekeeper were nice. The hotel location and outdoor amenities were great. Kinda sucks and hassle about the parking and hopping from one pool building to another which we knew when we booked it. The hotel room we stayed in has a certain odor probably from the kitchen usage from previous guests and the space is taken by all the furniture. The bathroom was really tight and bathtub clogged when taking showers. We did not use/sit on the chairs located on the balcony because they were just dirty. This is probably a good hotel for people who prefers cooking/prepping meals while on vacation and we are not one of those people. We also did not realize they don't provide towels when using the pools. Nothing really special about the hotel room."

"We stayed at the resort with my 1 and 2 year old and my mother...was a great experience. It was spring break which I failed to notice when I booked our trip...the strip was insane!!!! We were pleasantly surprised when we found the hotel was more on the north end and it was quiet and very family friendly...my babies loved it!!! It was clean..shower couldve used a bit more attention but that would be my only complaint. Our view was awesome in the partial ocean view room, and parking across the street wasnt bad at all. We'll return every Myrtle Beach trip if each visit was like this one"

"My family and I were staying a few days during our spring break. The pools and outside ammenities were great for the kids. The indoor pool which was heated was cool, and the indoor hot tub jets were not working. The indoor outdoor pool was a huge hit it was heated and allowed the boys to be in the sun for heat as well. The outdoor hot tub was working well. Nice area to picnic and lots of space plenty of chairs by the pool. Staff was efficient, not the friendiest, bye efficient. Our room was in the west building with plenty of space for the four of us, but the room reeked of fish odor. Maybe the previous guest had cooked fish, everytime I walked in the room the smell was overpowering. This resort is close to everything. Our building was a little less convient in trying to get ice, and the room keys were tricky. The elevator was efficient we never had to wait long for it being on the 5th floor. The space between the pools and the beach was pleasant and the pools were clean. I enjoyed the stay overall, but could have done with out the fish smell."

"Room was clean and the staff was friendly. Family oriented hotel. The jacuzzi and pools were clean. Although, with the crowd over Easter Weekend it is our opinion that there should be some sort of time limits for people using the jacuzzi tubs. Some people would get in it along with their family members and consume it all day long. Fitness room was nice. We stayed in the suites building. But we recommend the South building because there is a large pool, two jacuzzis, small arcade and the tiki bar for day time snacks and drinks. It would have been nice to be able to get a mixed drink from the tiki bar in the evening. Overall it was a nice stay, along with beautiful weather."

"We stayed at a room facing the beach. Nice sunrise view and we enjoyed having lunch on the balcony. There are 4 pools at this multi-building complex, including one indoor heated pool on the first floor of our building. There is a lazy river just outside, but it was too cold to swim outside. We had a lot of run on the beach, the sand was a bit coarse and there is a city storm drain near by. There are extra parking a street to the west. The hotel is about 15 minutes walk to the beach boardwalk that goes from 14th st. to 2nd st. There are many restaurants and small attractions within 10 minutes driving distance, including at least 6 fancy mini golf places. I think most of the hotels in the area are kind of old. But our room was clean and the staff is friendly. Overall we had a very good time."

"First, the bad. Beds need to be more comfortable. Pillows are flat, hard and uncomfortable. Black mold growing in the shower stall around ceiling. Dirty behind bathroom door...needs thorough cleaning. Kitchenette very welcomed and well stocked, but the signage saying that there is no 'housekeeping service' meaning that you are responsible for doing your own dishes is fine, but does that mean that the dishes that I will then use have been 'washed' by the last guest? I recommend washing them again prior to use! Uncle John's Restaurant across street is good, but it is not open for dinner. Little bathroom amenities provided. Only shampoo and cond. No lotion or bar soap, etc.

"A small group of my friends and I are planning a trip to Myrtle Beach for spring break and we were told that we would be charged one price, and then we were charged a higher price without our knowledge. When we found this out we proceeded to cancel with the notion that their 'Free Cancellation Policy' would still be valid. We were wrong they are currently trying to charge us for canceling even thought they have a free cancellation fee until day of arrival. This place is a scam!!!! do not book with this hotel."

"Older, family oriented hotel with a lot to offer. Very clean and nice location. Housekeeping staff as well as all the other hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. Loved the pool(s) and hot tub area, as well as all of the umbrella grass area for lounging. Would stay again and recommend to others. Just hope next trip we get to see a little more sun."

"We had the romantic getaway special which included free breakfast and free bottle of wine which wasn't that good but the overall stay was great the staff was very helpful and polite except for the housekeeper that just barged into my suite without knocking to see if there was anyone in the room. "The Dayton House is a nice place to stay in Myrtle Beach. It is located on the oceanfront and due east of Broadway on the Beach. We had an oceanfront room on the top floor of building 2, 2 queen beds, flat screen TV (no HD reception), full kitchen with dining table, free wireless internet and a great view. It came to $59.50/night including all fees and taxes."

"My husband and I spent one week in Myrtle Beach at the Dayton House. He golfed and i spent time lounging near the pool overlooking the beach under their yellow umbrella. Our ocean front suite was affordable, clean and comfortable. The staff was awesome and we were able to check in our room as soon as it became available before the 3 pm check in time. We highly recommend the hotel when traveling to Myrtle Beach. We rented a car and we also liked the location that was within walking distance from various restaurants. "

"I almost did not book this hotel due to the reviews about parking. We went Labor Day weekend, the hotel was 100% booked. We left several times and never had a problem finding a parking space. However the parking may be in their (Free) parking garage and you may have to walk a little, but the parking is available. Just wanted to clear that up in case you are worried (like I was) about getting there and not knowing if you would get a space if you did choose to leave. The location was perfect, right on the beach. The room and grounds were very clean, we loved the stove and refridgerator. Only complaint is the pillows are hard. Ocean Tip: We didn't know a float in the ocean required a string to be attached around it."

"THE BFF AND I SPENT ONE WEEK IN MYRTLE BEACH AT THE DAYTON HOUSE...IT WAS BETTER THAN WE COULD IMAGINE!!!! ESPECIALLY FOR THE PRICE WE PAID!! THE ELEVATORS WERE A LITTLE OLD BUT WE DIDNT HAVE ANY PROBLEMS...I HAD READ THAT PARKING WAS FAR AWAY BUT IT WAS ONLY ACROSS THE STREET....TRUE WE WERE A BIT FROM THE STRIP AND THE LIVE ACTIVITIES...BUT THE PEACE AND QUIET WAS GREATLY APPRECIATED!!! I WILL DEFINITELY BE RETURNING NEXT YEAR!!!!"

"Read alot of reviews before deciding to book Dayton House. Had a wonderful stay. We booked the ocean front suite. Plenty of room for 2 adults and 4 kids. Kids wanted to stay at the hotel pools instead of going to the beach. They loved the lazy river. Check in was easy and fast. The maid on our floor was very nice. She chatted with the kids while we waited for the elevator. Even though our room was right outside the elevator we heard no noise in the night. Parking was kind of a pain a few nights we were there, but other nights we were able to park in the lot right in front of the hotel with no problem. We will stay at the Dayton again if we visit Myrtle Beach again. Our whole visit was amazing minus the Pirates voyage show. Def a waste of money. Even the little kids just wanted it to end. We thought there would be more sword fighting and such. I wish I would have researched it a little more. Wonderworks was AMAZING. "

"1st time at the Dayton House. Photos were very accurate of the real thing. The pools were great. My 10 yr. old loved them. It was great you could pick your favorite. He liked the indoor pool. I liked the lazy river ( although wasn't very relaxing when people were swimming and jumping in it). Management should really keep an eye on that situation.The rooms were very clean also. The halls definetly needed improvements though. All in all we had a very nice time and would definetly recommend it to others!"

"Had a nice time while staying here. The only downfall is parking. I hated having to unload and park way across the street in the parking garage. we really didn't want to leave, if we got lucky and found a spot at the hotel. I wouldn't stay here again just because of parking. I will recommend a friend,but I will let them know about the parking issue."
