Staying at the Marriott resort in Hilton head. They have it all for families. Beach, pool, great rooms. Good place to go and relax with the family. They are family friendly, staff is terrific and concierge desk very friendly to work with.

I wanted a resort experience and although the pool area was nice and the staff friendly I was disappointed. Our room was nice and the bed was wonderful. Food too was good. I guess my two main complaints had to do with the resort fee. As far as i could tell it paid for self parking. Other places I have gone the resort fee pays for valet parking, having umbrellas put up on the beach and bikes or kayaks. Here it was for self parking. Stayed one night with husband. All staff including valet, front desk, pool attendants, and housekeeping very friendly and attentive. Room was updated...carpet looked newer but overall room needs some work. Bed linens did not fit bed. I believe there was a queen top sheet on the king bed but of course did not notice until evening so just dealt with it. Top bedding just did not seem refreshed. The wonderful staff gave us a nice room on the 10th floor, the view was amazing and being able to sleep with the balcony door open at night was the best sleep I've ever had in my life!! The pool area was great, the bar and grill had fabulous food and drinks and you can't beat the view! RIGHT ON THE BEACH. No walking a long plankway to get to the beach. The drive into the resort is absolutely beautiful.... Wonderful location!! Arriving on site for a late checkin we were greeted by a friendly staff. Valet parking provided. Parking deck close by. The hotel was nice; we stayed in the south tower. They are very busy, and housekeeping did not keep up with our needs. We had to call and ask for fresh towels, wash clothes, toilet paper, and trash removal. But aside from that, the hotel was nice. There is a small refrigerator in the room where you can store a few items. We (a family of 7) were able to store a box of lunch meat and mayo so we could have a light lunch or dinner. I was here for a conference and it was my first visit to this Marriott. We had a great room overlooking the pool and a great view of the ocean. The room was very clean as was the rest of the resort. The one thing that stood out was the employees. The Bell Captain was more than helpful each time I requested the car. The Pool Director was exceptionally nice and helpful each day. It's a great place to stay. The parking situation is less than ideal as it is mostly valet parking. The rooms were nice and had been renovated since most of the pictures posted here were taken. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Our room offered a wonderful beachfront view and the balcony was wonderful, although we couldn't stay out there for long because of the cigarette smoke coming from an adjacent balcony. Overall it was a good experience and we will most likely be back.

This is one of our family's favorite properties. Great kids programs. Wonderful pools, bars and resturantes. Perfect beach location. The rooms could use some updating but all in all the property is well kept. Staff is very attentive too.

We were attending a professional convention. We did not stay @ the hotel, but we were there for 3 days for the meeting. The staff was very helpful. The food was delicious, We had a hamburger @ one of the restaurants that was very dry, Other than that everything was fine. The meetings were long and the chairs could use some more padding. I usually shy away from big resorts for a vacation pick because I want peace and quiet. However, this was a "last minute, only thing available" choice. I was very surprised that given it's size, there are little nooks and crannies to get out of the noise. The beach has luxurious creamy colored sand, is broad and gives you plenty of space to claim for yourself so you aren't locked in there either. Tough staying here after a Marriott vacation club on the island. Doesn't seem that this should be a level 8 Marriott. Basic hotel room with a mini frig. Very very busy beach full of people. Pool had lots of bugs swimming around. Band playing at the pool was great.

I would first recommend anyone contemplating staying here find this place on Facebook and read those reviews. Those reviews seem to be far more accurate. I've stayed at several Marriotts around the world and this one seems the most in need of updates. Number 2 is the Marriott in Schaumburg, IL. Walls had stains in the rooms, wifi was slow at night, food was very average, bathrooms have no ventilation, on occasion you will pick up a sulphur smell in the restrooms, and elevators were dirty and in need of painting, doors to the rooms were warped and didn't open easily, and were extremely loud when opening and closing. Terrible hotel. I had to use 40,000 Marriott rewards points plus $50 cash for a balcony ocean view room. The first room we were put in was a first floor room with tree obstruction and very musty smell. We complained and were put in a third floor room with ocean view. Look at the picture of the view. Our family stayed here for 5 nights. Accommodations were good although updates could be done. Service was friendly and helpful. Laundry (washer and dryers) -- only 2 on entire property and of poor quality. Note: this resort does make you pay a "resort" fee on top of price of room whether you pay by cash, cc or points (in our case). It is a little over 20$ a day--somewhat frustrating considering how much $$ or points you are using.

This was my second visit and a short one. Just stayed one night after visiting Savannah GA and wanted some time at the beach. I was almost 8 years ago the first time I visited and quite a bit has changed on the property. But the great service at the hotel has not changed. I stayed at this Marriott for a conference and thoroughly enjoyed my stay. The room was very clean and spacious. The beach and pool areas are beautiful and I was able to relax and enjoy the island after the conference ended at 4pm every day. There are bikes available for rent, and there are so many great bike paths to chose from. I also had a massage at the spa, and it was outstanding!

For the second year in a row, my travel companion and I stayed here while she participated in a meeting of podiatrists. I understand that a change of management had taken place since 2015, but there wasn't really much different. The Café is basically a breakfast venue. Spent a week here on business in June. Had a couple of free days. The hotel is nice. Right on the beach. Friendly staff. Had some issues with housekeeping. My room was not touched the first 2 days. You can never go wrong at Marriott, the amenities we needed were all there, the location was great, the rooms were clean, and the beach was out our back door. We were able to rent our bikes for the day at the pool and head out. The staff was very helpful each and every day! Truly enjoyed our stay here!

We stayed at the Marriott Resort and Spa for a business convention. The check in was easy and quick. The valet, bell and front desk staff all very helpful and friendly. The elevators were super slow and some did not seem to be functioning. The common areas on the main floor were well maintained and pleasing. Stayed at the Marriott July 9-13 with my husband to celebrate our anniversary. We had an oversized ocean view room, 942, which was lovely. One evening we spent about 30 minutes on our balcony with the sliding door to the room open. I stayed for 4 nights for conference. In regards to conference facility, very nice, spacious for 500+ attendees. Excellent speed, secure wi-fi. They provided breakfast each morning for conference and was a nice, filling set up. 75% of the staff was friendly, saying hello and "have a good day" every time you passed. This property overall is very pretty, especially the grounds and outside amenities. We had an unusual experience with our room. First, it is an older property, given away by bathroom fixtures, but, it has been somewhat updated. The mattress needs replacing, and the rollaway mattress for our grand was terrible. Stayed here as I am a Marriott rewards member and based off a recommendation of a cousin. Was disappointed with the rooms. In dire need of updating. I stay here because of the location. That is ALL it has to offer. The hotel and the rooms are tired and uninspired. The potato chip crumbs have been on my carpet for 4 days now. I had read some of the poor reviews, but was coming for a conference, so stayed anyway. At first all was well and we thought people were just fussy, but housekeeping hasn't serviced the room for three days. The first day we thought maybe they only clean on alternate days as they had left extra towels and supplies. This was not our first stay on HHI but WAS our first at this particular resort. I'm sorry I didn't realize until now that pics could be posted along with review. Had I known, I would have uploaded a few. The room was so old. Bathroom tile was cracking, paneling peeling, bathtub was so tiny that my husband hardly had room to shower. Panicked a little when I saw that the room overlooked the lobby on one side and the pool on the other, but I needn't have feared as there was no noise from either side. Went to this hotel off season in April 2015 for a girls weekend. Price of room was very reasonable. Negative was not a Hugh selection of hotel restaurant choices. However, the breakfast was very good but pricy. Housekeeping did a good job. Toiletries don't have a great smell, so bring your own. Pools were nice and easy access to the beach. Good choice if renting condos are not an option.

It's unfortunate the last thing that happens sets in your mind but this is our case. Checkin was awesome and during out 2 night stay most all staff were friendly right up until the end. Check out was not good that's why low rating. Overall hotel is ok but room amenities were lacking in table space to eat at fir family, no hair dryer. Can hear doors slamming all hours. Our ocean view was beautiful though. Beach access great, pool good and food we ordered was good too.

It was a wonderful experience. Poolside service for food and drinks was excellent. Plenty of sun or shade around two pools. Beach wasn't over crowded. Food in hotel and at local harbor area restaurants was excellent, though pricey, but expected. The hotel was clean and every hotel employee was friendly with a smile and hello. Great for family vacation spot.

Nice hotel and beach with great staff. Centrally located on the island with so much potential. Hotel was recently updated however it appears they did a halfway job in the bathrooms. The shower floor was stained and there was a fair amount of mildew in the grout. I didn't want to take a shower without wearing my beach shoes. I stayed at this Marriott about 12 years ago and its basically the same. The exterior of the hotel needs some serious maintenance and work, but i only notice that because i'm in that work. The interior is a little beat up, but about par for a hotel that turns this kind of volume. The rooms are clean and the Marriott beds are always outstanding. Overall it was a very solid location and vacation. There were some highlights: Brittany our concierge called us prior to arrival and worked with us during the stay. Very impressive . Just had a five night stay at this hotel. The room was spacious and appeared to be recently renovated. The maid staff ensured all our needs were met. We ate at the hotel restaurant a couple nights and I have nothing but good things to say about the food. The steak was excellent. The pool area was the highlight. We stayed for 3 nights and everything was great. The hotel itself needs some renovating as it's an older facility, but the rooms were spacious and very clean and we had an amazing view of the ocean. The staff was all very friendly and helpful and the pool service was fast with great food and drinks. The beach chairs are plentiful and it's a very relaxing experience.

So I have to admit, I read many of the reviews and was nervous about what others wrote about rooms not being as pictured, palmetto bugs in room, dirty rooms and problems with maid service...I had NONE of the issues!!! And I'm a hotel snob! The room was nice and updated just as the pictures show! Like others I was skeptical to stay here due to the poor reviews, and also agree had I paid $500/ night the review would be different. However at $156/night I was pleasantly surprised to find the friendliest helpful staff (all staff and I mean everyone was friendly) and clean room! Staying here alowed us to wake up walk out onto the beach to watch the sun come up, we ate breakfast while watching the ocean and walked the beach in and out of the water for a couple hours. We will be back!

We come here every year for a large professional conference. The hotel staff is wonderful. I've read other reviews and have to say that the hotel has undertaken a top to bottom update that was overdue but welcome. Nice pool facilities and bar. The Palmetto Dunes property overall offers a solid variety of activities such as bikes, golf, and water sports.

The property is off the road nearly a mile, but it is an easy drive with lots of other properties along the path. Self-parking is simple with a short uphill walk. Check-in was efficient and room was found to be clean with a great view. We didn't dine at the hotel, but bar service at the pool was excellent. Short walk to beach. Beach was nice and clean. We stayed only one night, but could stay three or four days.

My husband and I stayed a few days for a conference in July. The hotel is nice, very quiet, and beautiful views. My only problem was that I never did figure out why the sheets didn't fit the bed. I am quite sure the king sheets were not made for thick mattresses and the top sheet only came to the top edge of the bed. I spent half the night putting the fitted sheets back on the bed. Same thing even when they changed the bed. Come on Marriott, get sheets that fit!

Older Marriott hotel but you would never know. The staff was very friendly, the hotel was very clean and up to date for the most part. Beautiful grounds, especially that beach. Great service especially Kitty the concierge. Older hotel but clean and the oceanfront room view was amazing. Pool and beach are super accessible and the poolside bar and food service were perfect. No coffee in the lobby was a bummer but we bought it at the little gift shop. The location near Shelter Cove is a huge plus.

Hotel rooms recently updated. Very nice. Staff very nice and helpful. Miss Linda very wonderful and long time front desk person. Always eager to help. Maid service not reliable. Returned to room at 4 after leaving at 8 am and room was not made up yet. Charles the bell man is always able to pack a car with way to much stuff perfectly!! All in all... A great vacation. I would recommend this resort to anyone looking for a place to stay in Hilton Head. I stayed with my family and would definitely come back. Oceanfront room was clean, good size, and had terrific views. The staff went out of their way to make sure our experience was nothing short of amazing.

Stayed here 9/9-9/11 prior to having to move over to the Westin for a 4 day biz stay. This Marriott really nice with the buts being very few. We find this to be a great option when we visit HHI. The hotel is super convenient to the beach, the bike rental / outfitter is across the street from the hotel, and there are a number of restaurants close by, within walking distance. My wife and I go there once or twice a year. We love Hilton Head and the Marriott is our place to stay. It's one of the two hotels on the island that is right on the beach. The staff is very good and cordial to everyone. The food isn't that great there, but Hilton Head has so many restaurants that are wonderful that one should just go out and eat, or order in from a delivery service or pizza place. Anyway, we have had no problems with this hotel at all.

The Hilton Head Marriott works hard to provide a relaxing atmosphere. The dining out on the pool deck was very enjoyable, and the servers where very friendly and attentive. After a bad experience last year, I gave it another try. Unfortunately, the same problems came up...housekeeping issues, poor food and beverage service and poor response from management. I was very disappointed with this Marriott property. It is very old and poorly taken care of. Everyone I interacted was very nice, polite, friendly and helpful. The room was ok, except for the bathroom...everything looks unkempt or cheap. Living area was ok. But common areas were just so old...nothing wrong in particular, but I was expecting more for a Marriott. I don't think I would choose this property again.

Our family loved this hotel! We are frequent Marriott travelers and couldn't have been happier with this hotel. There was so much for everyone to do. They do a great job for July 4th weekend with decorations, games, food, music. Our room had an amazing view of the pool and ocean and had plenty of room for all of us. This hotel was perfect! We had a beautiful 4th room with oceanfront balcony views. We ordered breakfast two different morning and all were absolutely delicious. The hotel is clean and sophisticated while still appearing family friendly. We watched sunrises from our balcony and the beach. We even saw dolphins! Been to Hilton Head many times. Our stay at the Marriott was very nice. The hotel had my family stay in adjoining rooms per my request. Great pool and ocean views. Great staff. Only knock was the wear and tear on the property. Rooms are not bad but needed to be updated. Same for pool area. As a loyal Marriott customer, I hope they put the time and money into a remodel.

This hotel has exactly what you need but just sit in the lap of luxury. The pool area is very pretty and has plenty of sun, shade and seating. The beach as well is lovely. The concierge staff was exceedingly helpful and kind. The area, with its bike paths, and bikes to rent is ideal for an out of the way vacation. We have stayed at this beachfront hotel five times. We love the location, amenities and friendly staff! This trip was a family reunion. Our beach house rental flooded during Hurricane Matthew. We scrambled last minute to find accommodations for a group of 10 with 4 young children. We booked 2 junior suites and an oceanfront guest room on the same floor. The staff and service at the Marriott HHI Resort and Spa is outstanding, starting with Kelly at the front desk who is professional and very helpful. Service and food at the restaurant were great. Stayed here one night at the tail end of our vacation stay at the Marriott Grande Ocean resort on Hilton Head. The rooms, although "renovated", are not entirely. The hotel itself is showing its age, but it is clean and reasonably priced. The location is fairly convenient. It's worth it to pony up for the ocean front room. The pillows were awful. Every single staff member we dealt with was outstanding. It may be old, but it's a well-managed old hotel.

Pretty drive in thru oak trees. A nice laid back comfortable place. Staff extremely nice and helpful. On the beautiful beach Would visit for vacation. After hurricane the town did amazing clean up. Can't wait to go back. Was there for car show.

We always avoided going to Hilton Head Island thinking that It won't be that nice. But out of the blue, this place has turned my opinion upside down. The property is really upscale with all the features you need for a luxurious vacation with spa and jacuzzi. On the second night of our stay, I woke up around 5am on Nov 6th to the sight of a large cockroach crawling across the ceiling. Soon after we turned on the lights and photographed it, the cockroach fell into our bed and quickly disappeared into the sheets. I called the front desk for assistance in removing the cockroach and waited 15 minutes before anyone appeared. So we in turn did not choose this place at first! We had tried other hotels and they were all booked, went with another hotel that was awful and got a refund. Came here to the Marriott, and got a room. The front desk was friendly, even got $50 credit to use anywhere in the hotel-food, gift shop, spa, not sure if this is a thing here, this is my first time staying at a Marriott, but won't be my last. After looking at the numerous hotels on the beach at Hilton Head Island, my son and I decided to stay here for a business conference he was attending. We checked in on a Thursday and the 3-front desk were all friendly, greeting me as a silver rewards member. Our room was great; 2 queen beds with an ocean view on the 7th floor. We received a good post hurricane rate in October at this oceanfront resort. Front desk staff was very friendly and actually upgraded our room to oceanfront. Nice corner suite was updated with a walk in shower and new vanity. Furnishings were nice and the bed was comfortable. They do charge you a daily "resort fee" that includes your parking. This Resort is an older one on Hilton Head Island, however it seems to have been fully refurbished and up-dated a few years ago. My wife and I spent several days in an Ocean-Front Room on the 7th Floor. The view was outstanding and the room was very comfortable. The room featured a nice balcony/porch directly overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. The sunrises in the a.m. were wonderful. We were supposed to be booked in a beachside room in a Marriott Vacation Club Resort which means full kitchen, laundry, etc. They told us they couldn't make any changes for us and our presentation of Marriott Vacation Club and they didn't have anything poolside/beachside. Clean and very accommodating. Spacious rooms. Updated hotel and nice place to get away from it all. Drawbacks parking garage, and fair food quality for the price. The Hotel itself was a thumbs up. 50/50 on going back again.

Have stayed here maybe 10x now and it never misses. Sparkling weather on Thanksgiving Day helps, too. Staff is always terrific, food is always great, and the experience is always nice. The Ocean Front rooms are awesome, the Ocean View rooms are great too. My wife always loved loved loved the bedding. Rooms are always maintained and cared for perfectly. TV and water still stink, though! So bring bottled water to keep in the room, and a laptop with Nexflix or Amazon Prime to watch and that covers ... Read more

Very nice hotel, not by best though. There is a fee for parking as well as a resort fee for providing you with beach towels and stuff like that. The best this hotel has is the beach, which is amazing. If weather allows, try not to miss the sunrise at the beach. Go for a walk before sunrise and appreciate that moment.

Spent 2 nights here this month. The hotel is attractive, well maintained and a good choice. The ocean front guest room had a large balcony with a beautiful view. The rooms were large and comfortable. My only comment here is thst the bathroom tiles are slippery when wet so be careful. My major complaint is that we were overcharged for the room. The last full week in October my wife and I spent a week at this Marriott property. We were very pleased with the condition of said property even more when you consider a hurricane had occurred two weeks earlier. Staff and management had accomplished an excellent recovery effort. We will be returning at a future date. Should note that the valley parking staff were excellent and more useful guest service about where to go and where not due to hurricane impact..

From the time we we made our reservation,with Linda, until we checked out, everyone was very accommodating with all our needs. From front door Bell stand, check in, housekeeping. Our room was a beautiful ocean view with deck. Bed was very comfortable, hated to leave it, room was clean and maintained. Hot tubs, pools and grounds were well maintained. Loved the hammocks. This hotel is looking very tired. It does sit right on the ocean and I was upgraded to an oceanfront room. Unfortunately the neighbors next door were very loud in to the night so I had to switch rooms. I went to get something to eat at the pool bar and I sat at a table for a fair amount of time while the wait staff walked past me several times.
