Went for a weekend with my boyfriend. It was fairly priced and pretty close to the beach. We actually really enjoyed our stay. It was about a 7-8 min walk to the beach, pleasant. The rooms were suitable and clean. We had a nice patio and the free breakfast was awesome. We agreed we would stay somewhere else right on the beach next time, but we were really happy with our stay and experience here. There's a shopping center w/ groceries in walking distance.

When we arrived we were told we couldn't check in because we were early. Knew that and all we wanted was to leave our car get and a coffee and look around for a time to see the beach etc. When we returned check in went ok. No pleasant smiles though, which is what we have gotten used to Holiday Inn hotels. They also failed to tell us that contractors were still working on site. We discovered they were working when we got back at 8:00 pm and they were making a great deal of noise, that didn't sto... Read more

I'll start with the positives....the beds are super comfy, the room is a nice size, with a balcony, which was great! We turned off the air and had our balcony door open for two nights, just enjoying the cool breezes coming in. The updated decor was really nice, and the storage was a great, as was the work desk...nice size. The TVs are flat screens, really large and can pivot around to either bed, which was great! Now the negatives. Where do I start? The toilet is loose so every time you sit... Read more

Usually like HI express. This one has been subpar. Have to walk a couple of blocks to separate building for breakfast although they do have a shuttle. There is a loud alarm in entrance area near elevators to rooms that is going off almost constantly. Had to move rooms once due to a/c not working. New room had multiple problems with toilet not working. WiFi has been down for over 12 hours now since we called front desk to make sure they're aware of the issue.

The room itself was nice and clean--definitely a newly renovated room. We have no complaints here. However, our first problem came upon check-in. Check-in and breakfast are in a completely different building down the road. This was inconvenient-- going to breakfast wasn't an easy "get out of bed and go", but more of a "we need to get ready for the day because we aren't coming all the way back to the room". Also, upon checking-in, there was only one lady present after the second lady left saying,... Read more

Most of the visible renovation I read about were complete. Our room comfortably slept our family of five (double beds with sofa bed). We had our mini frig and microwave. There was also shelving for our food/ snack storage. The decor was modern and clean. Beds were comfortable. I did not like that there was not a full length mirror in the room . Also, the sink was outside of the bathroom which means: (1) you have to come out the bathroom to wash your hand, (2) there was nowhere to place your item... Read more

We stayed a weekend at the Holiday Inn Express Hilton Head after attending my graduation. I was overall impressed with the stay. I was greeted with a friendly smile and checked in smoothly. The room looked spanking brand new and was very comfortable. I enjoyed the pool area and the pond with the alligator. I would say the breakfast was not a full breakfast buffet but definitely better than most continental breakfast and got the job done both mornings. We also enjoyed the stroll next door and bac... We have been to Hilton Head Island before so we had a good idea of where most of the hotels are located, and we knew when we booked this one for a 3 day weekend that it was not on the beach. The walk from the hotel room to the beach is a little long, but it was well worth it to my for the difference in price between this hotel and others on the island. The room itself was clean the service was personable and friendly. Yes, the check-in lobby and breakfast area are in a building that is not co... Read more

Easy walk to beach and some great restaurants in a nice quiet treed area. Pool and facilities are in great condition and well cared for. Bike rentals adjacent to property. Beautiful setting just off the main road so minimal traffic. Room was clean, comfortable, and had MW and fridge.

Close to the beach, shopping, and restaurants. Bikes to rent, good breakfast, some covered parking, nice pool area, etc. A./C had some problems and someone was there right away to remedy the situation. We enjoyed our stay without any hesitation. Good place to stay, for sure.

After reading the reviews, I seriously considered not driving 5.5 hours to Hilton Head. In full disclosure, this trip was offered to us at a very low cost by vacation play, who were trying to sell timeshare. Perhaps they put us in a good room so it would entice us, but I did not have any of the issues these folks did. The room was updated, everything worked fine, the distance to the breakfast building was not far at all. The breakfast was much more than your typical continental breakfas... Read more

Easy walk to beach and Coligny Plaza, a quaint collection of shops. Front office staff are very friendly and exceptionally helpful. Had a family reunion there of 50 people of all ages and everyone .over it. Susan Honowitz provided extraordinary service. Location is beautiful. Many restaurants nearby and grocery store out back of property.General Manager Rob Lewis is also doing a great job and awesome. Susan is definitely awesome! Full breakfast. Stayed there twice and will again when in Hilton... Read more

The staff at Registration Desk was very congenial, especially Ashley. They always greeted you upon entering, however phone calls often went unanswered. What I found most disturbing was the lack of bathroom facilities at or near the pool. You had to go to your room for calls of nature. Also, HIE needs to do a better job of monitoring who enters and uses its facilities. Doors were left unlocked and non-keycard holders could enter the complimentary breakfast area as well as the lobby to the hotel.

This hotel is close to the beach. The breakfast area and check in is in a different building. The short walk was nice or you may call the hotel van to pick you up and drive you the 1/2 block away to the breakfast area. Breakfast was fine. It is complementary. The area was clean and well maintained. The hotel room was clean and nice. Perfectly adequate for the price. The pool was clean. Towels were available. I would stay again.
