Visited from NYC for some R&R and catch up with an old friend. This hotel has a wonderful staff that exudes southern hospitality. The bars were fun, club lounge very convenient and the bed a pillow on top of a firm mattress - perfect for me. Love the dark stained hardwoods, wainscoting and crown molding. Elegant affordable hotel walking distance to quite a few sights. Only criticisms are that there are a few areas where the age is showing (stairwells) and no fridge but I hadn't requested one, I... We stayed at this hotel recently for a two night stay. The staff is welcoming and extremely helpful. From the moment we pulled up, Dorian, the valet was ready with suggestions for dinner within walking distance of the hotel. The room was lovely. We did not feel that it was too small, as others have commented. It is located right in the middle of the city and we enjoyed walking around and taking in the sights. We would definitely stay here again. I only gave it four stars because we were n... Read more

For the money I thought we'd be treated to a 4 or 5 star hotel experience. Not so! Carpet on stairways was threadbare. Lobby was uninspiring. Staff knowledge was lacking (I asked about a shuttle to USC graduation ceremonies, and although there was a poster in the lobby, no one seemed to know what time the shuttles started in the morning). The room was "eh", and the bathroom was even more "eh". It was quite large, but no shelf space to put my shaving kit, or anything else. Shower only, and it was... Read more

This hotel had a nice quaint feeling for a downtown hotel. We were very comfortable there; the beds were great and room was clean and comfortable (although not overly roomy). Lots of options for dining close by also. The valet parking was a bit pricey but to be expected in the downtown area.

A group of us - all SPG Platinum - checked in Sunday night to go the Masters the next morning. The front desk ladies were so nice and sweet. The lobby bar - the Vault - is closed on Sundays but a rooftop bar was open. It was too cold to sit out so we brought drinks down to the lobby. Several times - way to inconvenient. Hotel rooms were ok. The next morning we went to the Lounge for breakfast to discover the coffee was ice cold. The attendant who had just put out the food went to get some... Read more

After a fabulous stay in this graceful converted bank in the heart of town, was really looking forward to my return stay in May. Hard to believe how far the Housekeeping standards could fall in such a short time. Room not serviced at all one day. Some days they would clean the bedroom but not the bathroom -- or vice versa. A few times the managers came at 4.30 in the afternoon to do it. Housekeeping should just go unnoticed in a hotel of this caliber -- it should not be a daily trauma. Manager ... Read more

Wrote REVIEW you didn't publish it. Booked two days at this hotel for my nieces graduation. It was horrible from start to finish. Took an hour to check in because I had two different confirmation numbers and the new girl couldn't understand to merge them together so we didn't have to move rooms with a 4 year old. Let me remind you there is no parking, valet is the only way to go and the only ones that know what they are doing. kudos to you valet guys! So here is your review, Brennen and B... Read more

After a long wait, the Jackson Browne Acoustic concert finally made it's way to Columbia. We drove down (1 hour from home) on Sunday afternoon and on the way booked a King Room at the Sheraton Columbia Downtown. This is an older hotel that has been lovingly restored. The building footprint is small and there are only about 10 rooms per floor. Our room was crisp and clean with a white and light gray color scheme. The bed was excellent and the location in Columbia was terrific. We were less t... Read more

I enjoyed walking downtown at night to the Sheraton and the elevator ride to the 17th floor. The view and setting added to a wonderful downtown experience

We stayed here recently for a wedding. Everything was great. Wonderful staff, decor was classy and updated, rooms were spacious, comfortable and updated. We stayed in a 2 bed standard room and the linens were so loud like paper scratching against paper. The other bed also made a loud squeak every time someone would move. Other than that, everything was great.

There was not a refrigerator or a microwave. Ice machine had mold in it, our t.v. had no sound and after we have called two nights in a row trying to get it fixed they decided to tell us on the last day there that all you had to do was press two buttons on the remote to reset the t.v. Roof top bar was over priced and way to crowed( view wasn't even that good.) Not to mention we had flees in our room. THIS HOTEL IS NOT WORTH THE MONEY. If i were you I'd take my business else where.

OMG! Loved this hotel! Charming historic hotel. Pros- Location is great, down the street from the capital, close to the highway and within reach to many popular things to do in Columbia. I was glad to enjoy a couple of days at this beautiful hotel. I enjoyed my stay even though there were a couple of annoying issues like needing to fill the garbage can with water to fill the toilet tank with water with every flush! The building is neat and the historic feel is nice. The room was clean. Many minor issues, though. The desk chair was wildly uncomfortable. There was a wide gap at the bottom of the door that let hallway noise in. One day, they took away the dirty towels, but failed to leave clean ones, and the next day they never cleaned the room at all.
