Visited from NYC for some R&R and catch up with an old friend. This hotel has a wonderful staff that exudes southern hospitality. The bars were fun, club lounge very convenient and the bed a pillow on top of a firm mattress - perfect for me. Love the dark stained hardwoods, wainscoting and crown molding. Elegant affordable hotel walking distance to quite a few sights. Only criticisms are that there are a few areas where the age is showing (stairwells) and no fridge but I hadn't requested one, I... We stayed at this hotel recently for a two night stay. The staff is welcoming and extremely helpful. From the moment we pulled up, Dorian, the valet was ready with suggestions for dinner within walking distance of the hotel. The room was lovely. We did not feel that it was too small, as others have commented. It is located right in the middle of the city and we enjoyed walking around and taking in the sights. We would definitely stay here again. I only gave it four stars because we were n... Read more

For the money I thought we'd be treated to a 4 or 5 star hotel experience. Not so! Carpet on stairways was threadbare. Lobby was uninspiring. Staff knowledge was lacking (I asked about a shuttle to USC graduation ceremonies, and although there was a poster in the lobby, no one seemed to know what time the shuttles started in the morning). The room was "eh", and the bathroom was even more "eh". It was quite large, but no shelf space to put my shaving kit, or anything else. Shower only, and it was... Read more

This hotel had a nice quaint feeling for a downtown hotel. We were very comfortable there; the beds were great and room was clean and comfortable (although not overly roomy). Lots of options for dining close by also. The valet parking was a bit pricey but to be expected in the downtown area.

A group of us - all SPG Platinum - checked in Sunday night to go the Masters the next morning. The front desk ladies were so nice and sweet. The lobby bar - the Vault - is closed on Sundays but a rooftop bar was open. It was too cold to sit out so we brought drinks down to the lobby. Several times - way to inconvenient. Hotel rooms were ok. The next morning we went to the Lounge for breakfast to discover the coffee was ice cold. The attendant who had just put out the food went to get some... Read more

Very nice clean Hotel could offer more for the price would prefer a lot more such as fridge and continental breakfast could even add the valet to the price of the room since it doesn't offer anything else. But it's a pretty room that's in a wonderful downtown location and walking distance to everything

After a fabulous stay in this graceful converted bank in the heart of town, was really looking forward to my return stay in May. Hard to believe how far the Housekeeping standards could fall in such a short time. Room not serviced at all one day. Some days they would clean the bedroom but not the bathroom -- or vice versa. A few times the managers came at 4.30 in the afternoon to do it. Housekeeping should just go unnoticed in a hotel of this caliber -- it should not be a daily trauma. Manager ... Read more

Wrote REVIEW you didn't publish it. Booked two days at this hotel for my nieces graduation. It was horrible from start to finish. Took an hour to check in because I had two different confirmation numbers and the new girl couldn't understand to merge them together so we didn't have to move rooms with a 4 year old. Let me remind you there is no parking, valet is the only way to go and the only ones that know what they are doing. kudos to you valet guys! So here is your review, Brennen and B... Read more

After a long wait, the Jackson Browne Acoustic concert finally made it's way to Columbia. We drove down (1 hour from home) on Sunday afternoon and on the way booked a King Room at the Sheraton Columbia Downtown. This is an older hotel that has been lovingly restored. The building footprint is small and there are only about 10 rooms per floor. Our room was crisp and clean with a white and light gray color scheme. The bed was excellent and the location in Columbia was terrific. We were less t... Read more

We visited the rooftop bar only. The hotel is beautiful and the rooftop bar is worth a visit. Very popular with a great view of the city. I would go again. I enjoyed walking downtown at night to the Sheraton and the elevator ride to the 17th floor. The view and setting added to a wonderful downtown experience

We stayed here recently for a wedding. Everything was great. Wonderful staff, decor was classy and updated, rooms were spacious, comfortable and updated. We stayed in a 2 bed standard room and the linens were so loud like paper scratching against paper. The other bed also made a loud squeak every time someone would move. Other than that, everything was great.

There was not a refrigerator or a microwave. Ice machine had mold in it, our t.v. had no sound and after we have called two nights in a row trying to get it fixed they decided to tell us on the last day there that all you had to do was press two buttons on the remote to reset the t.v. Roof top bar was over priced and way to crowed( view wasn't even that good.) Not to mention we had flees in our room. THIS HOTEL IS NOT WORTH THE MONEY. If i were you I'd take my business else where.

Super from the minute we checked in. Fast and courteous staff, very clean room, and totally relaxing after a long day. Comfortable room in the heart of downtown. Modern and up to date furnishings in this quaint former bank building. Onsite covered parking with easy access. Perfect location to USC and State House. Will stay again.

OMG! Loved this hotel! Charming historic hotel. Wood floors, updated trendy baths with a tv in the bath as well as the bedroom area, martini bar inside an old vault on the first floor, and a rooftop bar, and a Starbucks in the basement. Awesome posh place to crash! Would definitely stay here again and again!

I only stayed for 1 night but it was exactly what I needed before deploying on a year long journey overseas. Being a gold SPG member, I was upgraded to a nice suite ( Room 802) which had TONS of light with my 5 windows with plantation shutters. The dark rustic wooden floors immediately grabbed my attendion as I walked into the living room of my suite. There's a lot of detail at this 100 year old building that was once a bank from what the check-in representative told me. Even being on th... Read more

In the last few years this hotel has come under new ownership, has been renovated and is currently relying on it's unique history to drive traffic. Pros- Location is great, down the street from the capital, close to the highway and within reach to many popular things to do in Columbia. There is a farmers market on the weekend mornings which is very cool. The hotel was once an old bank and they capitalize on this with a vault bar. There is a Starbucks in the basement. Cons - Valet and bell staff ... Read more

Hotel owners own a venue across the street that is regularly used for block parties. Best not to stay on those nights. Had an aggressive staff member and broken toilet. Overall the hotel needs work to restore its charms. It has potential, but needs lots.

I was glad to enjoy a couple of days at this beautiful hotel. I enjoyed my stay even though there were a couple of annoying issues like needing to fill the garbage can with water to fill the toilet tank with water with every flush! Maintenance came to fix it, but all they did was flush the toilet after I had just filled the tank with water! The hotel is in an old building so it was hard to keep the room cool. Keeping the blinds and shades closed is a must to help cool the room. I was still ok wi... Read more

Super clean and charming with modern updates. Nice boutique-type hotel. Staff was friendly and helpful. Comfy beds, great shower. Convenient Starbucks in building. Wish hotels had coffee in lobby to start day though. In room Brewers never good. Nice stay!

The building is neat and the historic feel is nice. The room was clean. Many minor issues, though. The desk chair was wildly uncomfortable. There was a wide gap at the bottom of the door that let hallway noise in. One day, they took away the dirty towels, but failed to leave clean ones, and the next day they never cleaned the room at all. When I requested towels because I had none, the woman delivering them held her hand out for a tip in a half-joke. I am usually a generous tipper, but it was in... Read more

I booked a large group for a wedding weekend because the Sheraton was in walking distance of our reception site. This hotel used to be a bank and it's been creatively and expertly renovated. Beautiful yet comfortable decor with plenty of indoor and outdoor spaces for small groups to gather and hang out. The Starbucks in the lobby was very convenient. The staff were over and above the expected level of helpfulness, especially RayRay the bellman. Our guests RAVED about the hotel and location. Walk... Read more

Very old hotel with good service and a very nice room. We really enjoyed our room and if you are into the feel of an older facility, such as creaky floors, it is great. The bathroom was very nice and even had a TV in it. The rooftop bar is also cool.

We had a nice double room with comfortable linens. It was on the 9th floor and very quiet. I liked the beautiful tile floor and the bank vault martini bar in the lobby. It is very centrally located and you can walk to delicious restaurants and fun night life!
