Beautiful place and artwork is phenomenal. The rooftop bar is the best but make sure you go to second floor of bar for best view and service. Food is good but not great at bar. Booked thru Travel Advisor or otherwise room was $100 more but with TA room was interior with no windows so hope you do not have claustrophobia. Booked private horse carriage ride for $150 and not same company booked that showed 15 minutes late and concierge did not even bother to let us know. Restaurant recommended do no... Read more

Could not have been more delighted with the city and this hotel on our road trip to MA from FL. Desk diva Nikki and valet to the stars Mark made sure we were welcomed and our room could not have been more grand. An art hotel, there is even an artist in residence (never sighted) but art abounds in the public and private spaces. So special - we will cherish our visit!

This was such a nice find! Unique hotel very close to everything-the water, tons of restaurants and shopping. Can't wait to come back and stay here again. We chose the Vendue on the recommendation of friends and are glad we did. The location is ideal being right in the middle of things. The facilities are top notch and novel. The hotel has great charm as it is built into old warehouses close to the old docks. It was restored within the last couple of years so it has every modern convenience while maintaining its old world charm. Setting it up as an art hotel is a unique idea that was well executed. The bellhop, Michael, not only took our cases to our lovely room, he told us all about the hotel, the local area, the activities and the art. The art is worth a special mention. The Vendue was recommended to us as the preferred hotel choice for a wedding we attended this past weekend. Given the price point and hotel website, I had fairly high expectations. Unfortunately, the Vendue fell far short. Upon arrival, we were greeted with a harried and awkward check-in process (not well-coordinated). My husband and I booked this hotel based on the rave reviews we found on multiple travel sites. In our experience, it did not measure up. The staff were loud up on the floor, housekeeping knocked and woke us up one morning and never came until the turn down service at night another day. To echo all those above, the Vendue is a gorgeous hotel with all the amenities you would expect. But the real test of a hotel I think is when the unexpected happens and they go above and beyond in service. In our case, traveling with several small children and a group of teens, we chose to self-park in the Vendue‚??s affiliated parking garage rather than use valet (if you've traveled much with kids you know that they drag everything out of the purses and bags during the ride, so every stop me... This is a very tough review. The Vendue is a special place. The location is, truly, the best in Charleston -- a stone's throw from the waterfront park and a quick walk to the battery, city market and great restaurants -- perfect. We loved the the reuse of old buildings, brick walls and other quirky architectual elements. Plus, the promise of art was a big draw. What a fantastic place to stay in the greatest little city on earth. Everything about the Vendue is fantastic! From the moment you walk in, the personal tour of the property, the wine tasting in the art gallery to the fantastic room in a charming city. Perfect location, excellent service and true Southern charm

The Vendue is conveniently located & within walking distance of most historic places to visit while in Charleston. It is relatively small with beautifully appointed suites some with sitting room & fireplaces. Afternoon tea is absolutely delightful. It is a great way to meet other guests staying at the Inn. The rooftop garden restaurant serves great cocktails & has a menu for everyone. When planning a trip to Charleston the Vendue is definitely a hotel to consider.

Outstanding service from the reception to the valet and exemplary professionalism from the GM Pietro Giardini! Furthermore, always exposing the greatest local artists with paintings, sculptures, and others art forms. A pleasure to travel to Charleston thanks to this unique place and also their top notch restaurant the Drawing Room.

When in Charleston my husband and I always stay at The Vendue. It is a upscale lovely, artsy, comfortable Inn. Everyone is so helpful, friendly an kind. The rooms are very spacious and the beds & pillows are like jumping into a big comfy cloud. Our bathroom has a lovely claw & ball soaking tub with jets and a awesome walk in shower. We also have a room with a fireplace. Period pieces with beautiful local art work. Price to stay is affordable compare to other Inns in this location. We love love ... Read more

Was pleasantly surprised by the Vendue! Mostly by the food at the main dining room, The Drawing Room. Top quality products and preparation by what I think is a new chef. Really inventive presentation on some of the dishes, like beet appetizer. I had rack of lamb which was perfectly cooked and well seasoned. My wife's sword fish was also excellent, served on a bed of incredible polenta. Deserts were also fantastic. Our server Laura was knowledgeable and very attentive without being overbearing. ... I booked a room at the Vendue for my birthday weekend. A getaway type trip with my wife. The day before our arrival I received a phone call from Pietro, the General Manager, to apologize that there was a mishap with my room and it would not be available. Pietro explained that they had re-booked us at the most comparable hotel in the City and would be absorbing any difference int he cost. I certainly understand that incidents happen, so I was thankful that I received a personal call, in adv... Read more

Booked a room for a weekend for my wife and I. While the staff were very nice, we were disappointed in the accommodations as our room had no window, was rather small and rather loud given its opening toward the lobby. If your room is a "interior" room, it will not have a window; which by the way is not noted anywhere that I could see when making reservations. I asked to switch as I get a bit closterphobic in windowless closets, but was rejected rather unpleasantly. The room furnishings were well... Read more

My husband and I just recently got back from a short 4 day mini-vacation to Charleston. We stayed at the Vendue for the first time and had a wonderful experience. Everything from the call from the concierge desk a day before we go there to see if there was anything that they could do for us all the way to the valet handing us the keys the last morning as we checked out was top notch! The rooms were lovely and very nicely appointed. The only two comments I would make regarding the rooms are 1... Read more

A Don't! Cramped room that smelled of mildew and had light coming through the crack around the door accompanied by tiny poorly lighted bathroom. No makeup mirror or Qtips.....,. Really? And more than 350 a night. Tired rooftop and room felt dirty with hair in the corners of the bathroom floor And the housekeeping left our used glasses in our room for good measure. Hard to sleep hearing doors open and close all night. The bartender was very nice and the concierge called to help prior to our ar... Read more

I looked at this hotel on a previous visit to Charleston and was very excited to finally book 2 nights here. The hotel's public spaces are fabulous, nicely decorated, funky art everywhere you look. Loved the recent exhibition. The rooftop bar is a must, even if you are not staying at the hotel. Service was a bit slow, and once the sun was down it got really chilly (no heating units were operating) The rooms were nothing like I had expected. They were very small, and the bathrooms(only 1 person ... Read more

I booked a Jr. Suite for the night before and night after my wedding. Not only beautiful accommodations, but very comfortable and in a perfect location. We loved the large bath with jets, the working fireplace, and the huge comfy bed. Visited Charleston for the first time this past weekend and stayed at the Vendue for two nights. From the moment of checking in to departure we were in great hands. The hotel is in a great location sitting a block from the bay and faces East Bay Street and Queen Street, both filled and leading to the many fab restaurants and shops that Charleston charms you with. My wife and I spent two nights at The Vendue in October, 2016. We were blessed by the service extended to us by the entire staff. Our room was well appointed and the bed was very comfortable. Our car was parked in their garage and the valet service was excellent too! Everyone was very courteous. After checking out, I realized that I had left some clothing in our room. Really nice boutique hotel, great art everywhere. Staff very pleasant, and helpful. Rooms extremely clean, beds very comfortable. Loved the shower, with 2 shower heads! Milk and cookies put out at night, with fruit flavored water available all day. The only reason I am not giving it 5 stars is because it was 80 degrees in the room and we could not get it any cooler. I was told they had the AC turned off in the hotel so it was not available in the rooms. Ceiling fan was helpful, but still needed ... Read more

This was the perfect boutique hotel experience and we have stayed at many in the US and overseas. We were there in late November and thankfully had four sunny days in Charleston. The location is ideal for walking around the historic district and waterfront. We were upgraded to a suite with a fireplace, complimentary port wine and a double shower which is likely because it is a bit off season. Even without the upgrade, the property is charming, a mix of classic and contemporary furniture and ver... Read more

I recently spent three nights at the Vendue. In terms of location and accommodations, it is superior to many of the other hotels I have visited in Charleston. The Vendue surpassed even my high expectation for customer service. It was evident that the staff truly cared about each guest and wanted to ensure their experience was a positive one. In particular, Ed the Bellman and Shannon and Josh at the Drawing Room were extraordinary.

The Vendue is my all-time favorite hotel because of it's uniqueness and impeccable, customized experience. The staff goes above and beyond the call of duty to meet every need whether travelling for work or pleasure or hosting and event there. (I have done all three.) They are also generous with their charitable contributions. If ever there was a hotel to support, it is the Vendue.

The Vendue's location is perfect for a Bay Street dining experience. Plenty of very good places within only 10 min walk. The buildings of the hotel are older so don't expect state of the art accommodations. There are copious pieces of art throughout the complex. Most are of the 'modern' variety. The rooftop bar has a great view of the Cooper River and Patriot's Point. Staff is very friendly and helpful.

Don't waste your time looking at any other hotel in Charleston. This is the place! Great service, food (Lobby restaurant and bar), rooftop bar, location and rooms. Room numbers 221and 222 are awesome (exposed brick-comfy). The concierge was wonderful as well. She went out of her way and was able to book a guided walking tour shortly before it started. From arrival to departure, it was an excellent experience. Don't miss it while in Charleston.
