Helpful, very nice staff at Christmas. Restaurant was open for dining, room was comfortable and clean. The beach is right there upon walking out, and it's also right next door to the Folly Beach Pier. Front entrance opens out to the main street, where restaurants and little shops abound. We didn't bring any pets, but this place is very dog-friendly. We had a fridge in the room (nice and empty for us to use, not one of those stocked bar things) but no microwave. We were on the topmost floor and t... Read more

After our three days at the Tides the week before Christmas, this might be our new favorite off-season beach location in the southeast. An easy drive from Charleston, this full-service hotel is older (a Holiday Inn at one time in history) but redone in lobby areas in a vintage yet casual style without feeling self-conscious, too hipster, or too cute. The prime location on the beach, the relaxed feel of the area, and the variety of restaurants nearby (in addition to the restaurant/lounge in the h... Read more

Tides is the only hotel on Folly Beach and does have great views. We are a family of 4 that stayed for 4 nights because of a family wedding in Charleston. It was rather chilly but we still loved walking on the beach. The hotel is definitely older, but the lobby area seemed to be updated nicely. Our room was on the 8th floor and we had great views of the pier and ocean. The room quality was fair. The chairs were very worn and many parts of the room showed wear and tear. The corners of the room we... Read more

From check in to check out the the Tides was "spot on" . We stayed here for the News Years Eve celebration . We bought tickets to the Bash and the New Years Day Oyster Roast. The food was very good and the service was top notch . I was personally worried about appropriate attire but found that the vibe was laid back and forgiving . It ranged from tuxes to flip-flops and all revelers were welcome . The fireworks were very good and I would challenge you to find a better venue overlooki... Read more

We give the team the highest praise in particular, one of the staff members-Ms. Davis. Our family has had the great fortune to stay at the Tides property several times. Our last stay, the week of Thanksgiving 2016 was our last stay. This last stay happened to coincide with our sonā??s graduation from the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center in Charleston as well as our wedding anniversary. Upon arrival, we had the opportunity to meet one of the front desk staff, a Ms. Madeline Davis. Ms. D... Read more

We really enjoyed our stay at The Tides. Folly Beach is a nice, oceanfront community in South Carolina. Our son works for the city, so to celebrate Thanksgiving and our 39th anniversary, we decided to try The Tides. The staff was very pleasant (and very helpful to our son in arranging a nice anniversary celebration for us), the room was clean and comfortable, and the views of the ocean outstanding. I admit that some of the surfaces are a little worn, but given its location -- right in the pa... Read more

My family and several others stayed at the Tides for several days prior to a wedding in Charleston. The hotel was really nice, but the staff were great! Especially "Jay" who not only helped with our baggage, but also gave us a rundown on where to eat, shop, and go while we were there also answering any questions we had during our stay.

Live about 40 minutes from Folly. Have lived here 26 years and only been to Folly a handful of times for a few hours (to watch my son surf or visit someone who was staying there). Decided to spend 2 nights with family and we had a blast. Rented a golf cart for the day (cheap) and scoured the whole island. Ate at Lost Dog Cafe (incredible breakfast) and had amazing Kimchee tacos at Taco Boy. This was such a treat! All rooms face the ocean. Got a little loud when the bars closed (Thursday a... Read more

Very nice & clean. Staff was very helpful & pleasant. Starbucks coffee was on-site. Heated pool & wifi. Doors to balcony did not lock. Very dog friendly. I've never stayed at a location with so many furry friends around. All the restaurants nearby were also furry friendly. Beachside bar as well as inside bar & restaurant. We liked the cabana chairs around the pool since it was windy & the wind was cold. It was 60 degrees one day but stayed very warm in the cabana, so we could get some sun.
