This is a very clean, hospitable, charming southern hotel that won't ever have a problem being empty. The location is perfect for vacationing in Charleston. We never rented a car for anything or took a taxi. All the shopping, Eateries, entertainment, tours, parks, are all within walking distance from this hotel. We were very pleased with the hotel restaurant, service and the amenities that were provide to us in making our stay pleasurable and accommodating to all our needs. Special thanks to the... Read more

Wish I could come here more often. Great place to just hang out at and my family loved coming here. It's right in the middle of the city and makes for a great stay and fun city. Dining room full of fun food and delicious tea. Room service was great. Will come again!!!

If you want a centrally located hotel with some old southern charm, stay at the Mills house. Rooms are typical Wynham which is code for corporate style rooms with little ambiance if any. It's the location that is amazing. Walking distance to most of the sites. Main dining room is not so great. Service is but the food, well the food is not much to write about. Great menu it's just the preparation and taste that turned me off. Take their Crabcakes for example. They smelled fishy and tasted... Read more

This hotel is in a good location but due to the terrible service we experienced I would not stay here again or recommend. We were a group of 10 girls who booked the hotel six months in advance for my bachelorette weekend. We booked a Balcony room and a Pool side room and were informed that each room could fit 5 girls (each room had 2 beds which slept 2 girls plus they could put a cot in each). Even though we booked in January and arrived on June 2, the hotel called the day of our arrival to t... Read more

Breakfast was great, good food, good value. hotel decorated nicely. valet parking always nice. got there early so they held our luggage. when they brought it up, offered to go get us ice. forgot sunglasses in car, went and got them for us. rooms are always clean, hsk point on, never any issues. beds are comfy. rooms nice classic lo... Easy walking distance to historic attractions and fine restaurants nearby. Only complaint is that the room was a bit smaller than expected. Otherwise, excellent service from concierge to valet to bar/restaurant staff.

This hotel is in a perfect location. We were able to walk to great dining, shopping, and entertainment. The beds are comfortable and the room was larger than most hotel rooms. The only negative we had about the room was that the bathroom was small. Everything else about the hotel and the staff were top notch. My wife and I have been to Charleston several times and we think the Mills House is the perfect place to stay.

This was an excellent hotel for a five day stay. We could walk to many of the places we wanted to visit. The rooms were very quiet and we never felt bothered by housekeeping. The lobby was elegant in a very relaxed way. We will stay here the next time we travel to Charleston.

The price for this hotel is very high with what you get but it was a one time stop and I wanted to treat the wife to a night out somewhere different while on vacation. The positives of the stay/hotel was that there was a turn down service (no chocolate) and there was ice in the ice bucket when we returned from a night on the town. The main lobby and courtyard look great and you feel fancy walking around on the main floor. The room we had was next to the pool and had a private patio. I feel t... Read more

I have stayed here twice and it is truly a great place. Clean, beautiful, great staff, friendly servers and bartenders. The location within walking distance to the river, as well as great restaurants and shopping, is superb. Enjoy a meal in the Courtyard, an amazing nights sleep in a heavenly bed and be sure to walk the streets and savor the beauty of Charleston.

Love the history and the restoration of this hotel. Very nice property and the location can't be beat. Rooms a bit on the small side but understandable. Staff was a mix for us as some were very nice but some a bit short. I can deal with it but it should be addressed. Biggest complaint is that this is a very busy hotel with conventions and weddings so it can get very noisy even though you sign a noise agreement when you check in. All in all, still would return and put up with some inconveniences ... Read more

The location of the Hotel is perfect! You can walk to the waterfront, all stores and restaurants, and get lost in the charm of the city's streets. The rooms were very pretty and clean! but small which is expected in an older hotel. The pool area was very nice and quaint. We traveled for my husbands birthday and they brought a gift basket and hand signed birthday card which was a lovely touch. I would stay here again and recommend it to a friend. Nothing negative to say.

Spent two nights here for a quick birthday get away. Room 416 was very peaceful. Check in was fast and valet parking was great. We had drinks in the bar one night with a burger. Food was good and the drink were awesome. Try the Gin and Ginger. The bar tender was friendly and he makes a good drink. The room was nice, the bed was a little firm for me and the bathrooms are small but the location is the best. Walking distance to all the great spots.

The hotel is right downtown so you are within walking distance of all the restaurants and shops, which is what we really wanted. Great romantic trip for my husband and I. Would definitely stay again.

My daughter and son in law just got married in Charleston. Most of our friends and family chose to stay at Mills House with us based on our recommendation. Understandably we were a bit anxious and hoped the hotel staff and accommodations would live up to our expectations. Indeed they did! Managers Mike and Alfonso were incredible. They were attentive and responsive to all of our needs! I highly recommend Mills House to anyone considering a trip to Charleston. You cannot find a better place to st... Read more

Visited Charleston with my husband and daughter for a work trip and enjoyed our stay here. The staff were awesome, going the extra mile for requests. The lady at the concierge desk was helpful and very friendly. The hotel is in a great area, surrounded by fine eateries, shopping and walking distance (1/4 mile) to Starbucks. If you're not into fine dining, there is a Subway a block away. The downtown marketplace is also 2-3 blocks away. The rooms were standard for a hotel this old. We were a litt... Read more

This is the best hotel in the historical part of Charleston. It is a beautiful hotel with a long history and he even has a few ghosts. The beds are extremely comfortable, the hotel rooms are nicely furnished and very clean. All the staff were very friendly too. They provide valet parking which is wonderful. We spent four nights in this hotel leading up to July 4. I have to say that it makes a very good impression when you walk in the lobby. It is historic charm meets bright, glamorous, semi-opulence. It is not a huge lobby, but well furnished with lovely sitting nooks. The service at check-in was very friendly and welcoming as well as quick! We had a city view room on the fifth floor with a king bed. There was plenty of room, two bottles of water replenished twice daily, and free wi-fi. Be prepar... Read more

I recently took my mom to Charleston for three days just before the July 4th holiday weekend, as her belated Mother's Day gift. Finding the hotel (via GPS) was easy, but there really wasn't a place to park your car just to check in. She stayed in the car (parked illegally on the street) while I ran in to quick check in. Check-in was quick and easy, and I was informed/reminded of the $25 per night food and beverage credit I had on my reservation and how to use it. We then had the option of pa... Read more

I stayed here July 5-6. The lobby, bar, and courtyard, and pool are very nice. The staff was friendly and helpful. The rooms are just ok...not nearly as nice as the common areas. If you're looking for a fancy, upscale room then this isn't the place for you. If you're just hanging your head for the night, it'll do just fine.

$32.00 a night for Valet parking. My car never left the front of the building. Most of the staff was very helpful and pleasant. The restaurant staff was snooty & rude. Not just to us, I noticed it with others as well. I guess it was obvious our bank account didn't match the other guests. We felt very out of place.

The hotel has all of the amenities you would expect from a Wyndham but with the charm and history of a true landmark property. The restaurant is beautiful and the food was delicious.
