If you want a centrally located hotel with some old southern charm, stay at the Mills house. Rooms are typical Wynham which is code for corporate style rooms with little ambiance if any. It's the location that is amazing. Walking distance to most of the sites. Main dining room is not so great. Service is but the food, well the food is not much to write about. Great menu it's just the preparation and taste that turned me off. Take their Crabcakes for example. They smelled fishy and tasted... Read more

This hotel is in a good location but due to the terrible service we experienced I would not stay here again or recommend. We were a group of 10 girls who booked the hotel six months in advance for my bachelorette weekend. We booked a Balcony room and a Pool side room and were informed that each room could fit 5 girls (each room had 2 beds which slept 2 girls plus they could put a cot in each). Even though we booked in January and arrived on June 2, the hotel called the day of our arrival to t... Read more

This hotel is in a perfect location. We were able to walk to great dining, shopping, and entertainment. The beds are comfortable and the room was larger than most hotel rooms. The only negative we had about the room was that the bathroom was small. Everything else about the hotel and the staff were top notch. My wife and I have been to Charleston several times and we think the Mills House is the perfect place to stay.

The price for this hotel is very high with what you get but it was a one time stop and I wanted to treat the wife to a night out somewhere different while on vacation. The positives of the stay/hotel was that there was a turn down service (no chocolate) and there was ice in the ice bucket when we returned from a night on the town. Love the history and the restoration of this hotel. Very nice property and the location can't be beat. Rooms a bit on the small side but understandable. Staff was a mix for us as some were very nice but some a bit short. I can deal with it but it should be addressed. Biggest complaint is that this is a very busy hotel with conventions and weddings so it can get very noisy even though you sign a noise agreement when you check in. The location of the Hotel is perfect! You can walk to the waterfront, all stores and restaurants, and get lost in the charm of the city's streets. The rooms were very pretty and clean! but small which is expected in an older hotel. The pool area was very nice and quaint. We traveled for my husbands birthday and they brought a gift basket and hand signed birthday card which was a lovely touch. I would stay here again and recommend it to a friend. I am so happy that we did; it is a beautiful city full of character and history and The Mills House was the perfect hotel for our stay. The property sits on a perfect location, right on the French Quarter, walking distance to everything - restaurants, the pier, water taxis! EVERYTHING! We've stayed a couple of times at the Mills House and are always blown away by the level of service. It's a bit dated and the rooms are small, but always meticulously prepared and clean. Our first trip to Charleston was a brief getaway when I returned from Vietnam in January 1971. This property was lovely then, but way out of our price point. In the years since we have journeyed to Charleston dozens of times and stayed in some of the finest properties, but somehow never did The Mills. Changed that this week and really delighted that we did. From the time we pulled in the service was nothing less than spectacular. We have stayed at the Mill's House several times over the last 35 years and we have never been disappointed. The staff has always been accommodating and friendly and the location cannot is great. Because it is an older hotel, some of the rooms are getting a little tired and dated, so be sure to be specific about what you want. Not all rooms have refrigerators and some are smaller than others. If you are a light sleeper, you may not want a room facing Meeting street. On our last trip, we had to s... Read more

I was not expecting so much charm in a hotel; this hotel is lovely. The entrance of the hotel is very well decorated with a southern touch. Rooms are big enough and well decorated as well. There is a parking lot in the back of the hotel, which is very convenient to anyone that comes with a car (parking is not included). The 3rd floor of the parking building will connect you with the hotel where the pool is. The pool is at the third floor and some of the bedrooms have views to this pool-terrace... Read more

I've just completed my first stay at The Mills House and on the surface, all is well. The staff are friendly, the food is good, the rooms are quite comfortable. However, the one feature I value as paramount in any hotel is one that is quiet at night. This one is not. For the second night in a row (of a two night stay), I have been woken up around 4 am to debris collection just outside my window. We found the Mill House to be a perfect location to explore Charleston. The lobby is welcoming with lots of places to relax. Our check in process was swift. We had a corner room on the 7th floor. The room was spacious. Only draw back is the bathroom is small. Not surprising for an old building. The room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. Only draw back is the morning street noise. They have a nice courtyard to enjoy breakfast. We did not try the restaurant otherwise.

There was some sort of street work going on late at night which kept me awake. The bed is very hot to sleep in and the room and bathroom are very small, but the hotel is high on charm and has an excellent location.

The location was amazing! The staff at the hotel was wonderful. The rooms left a little to be desired. The bathroom was small but clean. The room was nice but small as well. It is a quaint hotel. Nothing grand. We were out with friends and went back to the hotel at 10:30 and the bar was closed. Overall it was a nice place to say.

We enjoyed this hotel and it's many activities in the surrounding area. We enjoyed the breakfast each morning at the hotel (delicious!) before heading out to visit Fort Sumter, Magnolia plantation and shopping downtown and at the Market. We also were lucky enough to have perfect weather! Would highly recommend this hotel

We had a lovely experience at The Mills House. A slight error in checking in that was fixed immediately. We stayed on the 7th floor in a corner room - I loved the wonderful windows and views! Staff was gracious and friendly; hotel was very clean. This was a perfect location to see the sights and do walking everyday. Close to amazing shopping and restaurants. The pool was also beautiful and we had fabulous weather to enjoy it! A great Thanksgiving Holiday and anniversary celebration!

We booked our stay using a link to their webpage ....unfortunately even after calling, confirming and confirming again upon check-in they did not give us the block rate ...during checkout the Manager on duty did not have the training he said to verify a blockrate... Had to pull up on my phone the original confirmation from four months ago or he would not adjust the rate. Totally unacceptable

This charming hotel is in the heart of Charleston with excellent restaurants within walking distance. The rooms are cozy and very comfortable. The bathroom was a bit small. The rooms come with a very good buffet breakfast. The only problem we had was during our first night. We had specifically asked for a quiet room and got a 3rd floor room directly above the beautiful courtyard and pool. Unfortunately, on our first night, we were disturbed by some guests (team members from a film crew we believ... Read more

Our family (7 of us) just returned from a 3 night stay over Thanksgiving. Hotel is beautiful and in a perfect location. Easy check in and Andra at the concierge desk went above and beyond to ensure we had a great stay and helped with reservations and planning. The only reason I couldn't give it a 5 was because of the restaurant. We made reservations for their Thanksgiving dinner way in advance and looked at their menu online. When we got there, they were out of 2 of the main menu items (the prim... Read more
