Originally built as a cotton warehouse around 1840, the building that would become the Anchorage Inn spent several years transitioning through different commercial roles. The last of which was the headquarters of Mr. Robertson Allen`s brokerage firm. The large threshold stone of the Inn was placed in memory of Mr. Allen`s son in 1959. The Anchorage Inn`s name pays respect to the Historic Charleston harbor that resides only a block from the Inn. The word Anchorage itself means a safe harbor, and that is what you will find here at this lovely inn.
