I didn't quite know what to expect of the place but would say there were some aspects of the hotel I found better then expected and a few less then expected. I found the area right inside the door where the check in desk to be much smaller then expected but upon going up the small set of stairs, the larger "sitting" area was well light and decorated in a very warm and welcoming fashion. There is a computer there for guests to use (I used it to print our boarding passes) and that was an unexpecte... Read more

While not the least expensive play to stay it was an outstanding experience and isn't that what we are looking for in a upscale hotel. Very friendly and helpful staff. The kids had fun in the pool and it's close to everything. Lots of parking in the 1st floor garage and a nice restaurant. They had a glitch with their ABC permit, but more than made up for it by opening a few bottles for their guests. Lots of good restaurants in the area and it's close to everything downtown has to offer. We'll be... Read more

GREAT location - easy parking - quiet, nice room A little pricey for me - but I would do it again- helpful friendly staff, terrific location, quiet rooms, and comfortable beds. Easy to register - just pull into parking- there are places on the right side , or go ahead and park. Rooms aren't spacious but you didn't come to Charleston for a room- it was so easy to walk to attractions I loved it. Loved the afternoon "tea" and bar specia... Read more

All in all okay with the exception of the manager's intrusive approach to guest at the reception. My wife and I were trying to have a private conversation at the wine reception and the manager came over to our table and started asking all kinds of questions. Thankfully after 5 minutes she pounced on another couple. In addition to this, when we arrived the receptionist handed us a paper notifying us that the bar had been closed because of an error. When I booked this nothing was said about the bar not being operational on premises and that is one thing I look for in staying places. Very friendly and efficient staff. No charge for our early check in. Convenient parking. Hotel carpets and paint are tired and in need of replacement. Mold noted in shower grout and curtain. Duvet cover appeared wrinkled from a prior guest. This hotel did not appear as depicted in advertised pictures. Furniture looked worn as well. Tacky low tiled ceilings in room hallways. We were shocked at the voluminous 4 and 5 star ratings. It does have a great downtown Charleston location.

Tea and cookies each night. Cheese and olives every evening. I enjoyed sitting on the patio to relax before taking on the second half of our day. We called into the King Charles after deciding to stay in Charleston overnight. The reception team were really helpful, offered a great rate with complimentary parking which is not always the case in this area. The room was comfortable, well equipped and clean as were the other facilities of the hotel. The King Charles is just a short walk to the Market area, Carriage rides, historic homes and buildings and a wide selection of Bars and Restaurants. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Charleston a... Five night stay at this location really gives you a feel for southern hospitality. Could not have a better experience starting from check in to check out. Maureen, the GM really cared and took an interest in her guests. Her recommendations about what to do and where to dine was spot on. The rooms were comfortable and common areas clean. The location was perfect for sightseeing and the free parking was a bonus. We look forward to coming back for another visit.

My wife and I stayed at the King Charles Inn for our first visit to Charleston. We honestly picked it because it was centrally located and a great rate for the area. We were not in the room much at all, however our top floor room was very nice. Parking was not the greatest, I drive a larger F-150, there were not many spots large enough. We actually ventured away from the historic district one night, Palmetto Brewing Company and The Glass Onion (I recommend both highly! worth the drive!), and had... Read more

Great hotel, reasonably priced considering the expense that Charleston can bring! Location was great, staff was very helpful and the room was nice! We stayed for just one night and will definitely stay again if we are in Charleston. We didn't know about the pool before arriving and that was a nice treat! We enjoyed the evening reception on the pool deck which was a great way to recharge from being out in the Charleston heat.

I spent 3 nights in Charleston at the King Charles Inn in September. The room was small but clean and the décor very nice. There was no noise from the street. My biggest complaint was the cleanliness. My bathroom floor had someone else's hair all over it when I arrived and the carpet hadn't been vacuumed. The hairdryer bag had some sticky goo on it.
