This property is one of my favorites to stay while I'm in Charleston. It has the best view from its restaurant/bar! It's literally right smack in the middle of Highway 17. It's conveniently located to downtown and if you don't want to drive, you can take the shuttle. The drivers this trip were amazing. I kidded one that he was better than a carriage ride. Both were full of knowledge about Charleston. The down side was the van has something, not sure what, over the windows which makes it ... Read more

An unusual hotel in the round. Rooms an unusual triangle shape which gives a large amount of space. Large picture window gives panoramic views from high floors but no access to small balcony for safety reasons. Well equipped and clean but no microwave. Set in the middle of the highway low floors get plenty of traffic noise as does the outdoor swimming pool on the 3rd level. The feature of the hotel is the panoramic restaurant on the 15th floor. This hotel is amazing. Clean, friendly staff, affordable, and best view and location for the price. Breakfast was included and was at the top floor overlooking the harbour, quick drive to the Battery and tourist area. Self serve laundry which I love when I travel-would definitely book again!

Room was very very clean. Actually got the exact room from a previous stay ( by pure chance). The roof top/floor bar is a excellent way to relax and look out over the river. We actually sat there for 3 1/2 hours before stepping over to the restaurant next door. Of all the places in Charleston that have top notch cooks, I must say this place has the best SheCrab soup by far. Our waitress at the bar was above & beyond. This hotel has great views of the river. You can watch the boats coming in and out of the harbor. I would definitely consider staying here again. The only reason I didn't give it a higher rating, is that it is an old hotel. And needs a little updating. The balconies have been closed for safety reasons and it just shows its age in various ways. Otherwise it is a nice place to stay. Clean, friendly staff and did I mention the gorgeous views!?!

If choosing this hotel, choose to upgrade to a city view it will be worth the money. The front desk staff was great on check in and out. They suggested for us to take the shuttle into town and definitely worth it. The staff upstairs in the restaurant go out of their way to make sure you are happy with everything. The view is outstanding and even better with a sunset.

I am shocked to see so many 5 star ratings because this is definitely NOT a 5 star hotel! When we first entered our room, we were greeted with, dreary carpeting, really shabby furniture, and a musty, "doggy" smell that took some getting use to. The drawers of the dresser were incredibly difficult to open and close, so we opted to leave them partially open. The toilet alarmingly seemed on the verge of overflowing with every flush. The mattresses and pillows were just old, and tired, and uncomfor... Read more

Beds were extremely comfortable and I loved that there were plenty of places to plug phones and other items into. As Holiday Inn Hotels go, this is merely satisfactory. It is a bit outside of town but there is good road access. The rooms are not great but are adequate. The room itself was fairly clean but not pristine. There's a pool on the third floor and it is very nice. So while I would not highly recommend this place, if you're on a budge and not too choosy, it's OK.

This building has to be decades old and based on the stay we had in Bluffton, I didn't have high hopes but the room actually smelled acceptable. Room was reasonably clean but still old. View of the river but windows were old and the view wasn't really viewable through them. As we were on the road for 2 weeks we really tried to keep the budget in the low 100s for a night (which this was) but I think we need to raise our budget to 150 a night to stay in some better properties.

The pluses of this hotel are that it has a great restaurant space with good views across the river. It has a shuttle service which takes you to the centre of town running every 2 hours during the day and the room was Well maintained. The staff were helpful and friendly and we're obviously trying to do a good job, but there seemed to be a lack of care in certain areas. Our main problem came with the shuttle, the service is good and the guys who run it give a nice guided chat as they drive, whic... Read more

The great things about this place include the Riverview, the location, access to their restaurant and breakfast buffet, the Business Center, adequate Fitness Center and the very hospitable Front Desk staffers. Namely, Heather and Jenn. The balconies are decorative only, and for safety reasons are locked shut, as they should be. The view in the restaurant and in some of the special rooms was beautiful. My room was quiet, with a comfy bed. The hotel offers free shuttle, and free parking, and is... Read more

Writing for wife a Platinum IHG member. I stayed one night. Overall impression was very negative. The front desk staff was the one and only bright point but could not overcome the negatives. Desk clerk claimed that my room was an upgrade. The room was small but adequate. The carpet was way past its prime and appeared to be dirty. The walls are too thin and the bed was uncomfortable. In all, a good night sleep was not possible. The restaurant was 2/3 empty and several window tables were open.... Read more

I would stay here again if necessary, but for the basic amenities that were lacking, I'd probably choose another hotel. We were overall satisfied, but the suggestions for better satisfaction would be complimentary coffee (water is currently available all day) and the option for muffins, or fruit as well. There is NO free breakfast here. We did enjoy the Sunday Breakfast in the restaurant and I was satisfied. Nothing special but plenty of options, hot, clean, and an amazing view!! It was very c... The hotel wasn't clean, it had a dirty feel and look to it. The room furniture was old, there was no safety deposit box and the one offered at reception was so small a passport wouldn't fit in it. Only one lift working due to an energy surge. Room balcony doors were securely closed so you cannot go onto the balcony. You need a car to get to Charleston or you can use the free shuttle bus. The bus driver John was the best part of the stay, very knowledgeable about the area and accommodating gettin... Read more

Typical old style Holiday inn, we booked for one night on the way to DC so we could visit historic Charleston. The location is just outside the historic district over the bridge nothing around it but highway which was fine for us we had an upper level room, ok for overnight, but there were earplugs provided with the shampoos so I suspect that the highway noise could be a problem. We had intended to eat dinner in their restaurant and were even given a coupon only to find out it was closed that e... Read more

The hotel is very nicely located on the entrance of the Charleston Historic District. It has a very nice view from the restaurant up to the river and the bridge across. The staff was very friendly and a shuttle bus into the historic district is offered
