The staff are wonderfully helpful and accommodating. The hotel's location is hard to beat: right off a beautiful historic park and on the main shopping thoroughfare through the city - King Street. It is also one of the tallest buildings around, so you can always find your way back. The lobby is an elegant pre-war reception area that has the wonderful feeling of old-world Charleston. Free WiFi is a nice plus. Only gripe is that the rooms would be kept with the same attention and flair as the be... Read more

I stayed for just one night May 2016 and was very impressed from check-in to check-out. I pulled up after 10pm in the valet lane in front of the Hotel and ran inside to check-in and get information on where to park. The young woman at the front desk was very friendly, professional and personable. I knew from that interaction that the hotel would compliment her attitude. The lobby looks presidential to say the least. Parking is next door in a garage about a third second walk from the lobby. Easy.... Read more

It is so gorgeous and a full size starbucks in the lobby. Love the couches and chairs in the lobby for lounging and sitting with a glass of wine. beautifully decorated for the holidays. When U star here, turn left and go about 10 doors down and have a drink at he Cocktail club, and get the bacon infused popcorn, yum yum. The restaurant on pr... Read more

Me and my wife stopped here for 2 nights on our road trip of the Deep South and the hotel was clean and beautiful looking. The staff were great people and super friendly, especially Vinnie the doorman (and sorry but I can't remember the other guys name) who recommended some great places to eat. We had our room upgraded due to us having to wait a little whilst another couple were being seen to which was great. Then once we had settled into the room, we had a knock on the door to find we had bee... Read more

This hotel is very conveniently located and has a lovely, spacious lobby. The rooms are nicely decorated but be aware that the bathrooms (at least in the 3 rooms my friends and I occupied) were tiny. It would have been nice to have a small refrigerator in the room - an amenity that most hotels have. Staff was polite and friendly.

We stayed at this hotel for a conference at a "special rate" of $210/night. Note, self parking in the structure next to the hotel is $17/day. The outside of the building looks like a simple brick square. Inside, the lobby has the "old opulence" of the southern charm. However this is not a large lobby, so don't expect the shock and awe of say. . .the Charleston place hotel lobby. The lobby area looks like there might be a bar there, but we were there in the summer during Spoleto and the bar ... Read more

We were going to self park but our Tahoe with Yakima carrier wouldn't fit into the garage. Staff graciously valet parked it for self parking price. We saw it parked in an alley parking space the next morning with service vehicles. We asked for a room with 2 beds. They were 2 FULL beds. Very small. And th... Read more

We spent a weekend at the hotel as part of a wedding. The hotel is in a fabulous central location near shops, restaurants and the historic district. This is an older hotel that has been somewhat updated. Our room was clean and generously sized but the bathroom was rather old - one small sink area and an older style tub/shower. No refrigerator in the room at all. The linens were good quality; the bathroom toiletries were minimal. The staff could not be more friendly and helpful and the restaurant... Read more

Bathroom was so small you could not turn around. It would get wet and so steamy that it took 20 minutes before you could see in the mirror. My towel slipped from my hand and fell in the toilet! It would be impossible for an overweight person to use that bathroom.

Historic hotel. Enjoyed the history of the property thru the years. Check in was easy, received a room with of view of the water. Small room. I would not recommend more than 2 people to room. Bathroom even smaller. Comfortable beds. Lavender scent in the lobby.

Getting into this hotel can be a be a wait because of the location. Don't get frustrated - location is part of the charm. Give yourself plenty of time. If you are coming in for a convention that starts the same day you arrive -- try to come in a day early. Staff is friendly and very helpful. If something happen out of the ordinary they will do their best to make it right.

The Francis Marion is perfectly and centrally located. Each and every staff member - bell staff, front desk, housekeeping, and concierge - were knowledgeable, helpful, and a delight. The renovation was done in a way that effectively restored all the best vintage features of the hotel while introducing all the modern features to make our stay comfortable.

I would definitely recommend this hotel. It was located close to many restaurants and great shops. The park across the street hosts a farmers market too with food trucks on Saturdays. We loved it! We had free wifi in our room and free water bottles. The bed was so comfortable! Staff was extremely friendly and opened the door for us every time we left/returned.

This is an historic hotel built in the 1920s. Good location, easy walk up or down King St to Visitor Centre or to shops. The free DASH trolley bus also stops nearby. Generous sized rooms. No fridge. Good wifi. If you want a shower do it in the morning, there is no hot water at night. We stayed at the Francis Marion where we were greeted warmly by the bellhop and had a quick and friendly checkin at the front desk. The rooms were very nice and spacious for a boutique hotel. The only drawback is the parking, which is a public parking garage and there was maneuvering of our luggage down the street to the entrance; followed by stairs. Situated right on the King Street the hotel is a good place to be: walk out of the door and you are in the middle of Charleston. Our room faced towards the park and had a beautiful sight. Very nice hotel, staff and location. This seems to be an older classic style hotel or apartment building that was remodeled. Rooms are large. Some seem to be one room made up of what formerly was two smaller rooms. As a result, I had a very unique room that had two beds, two closets, three suitcase holders, a desk, a makeup table, and two bathrooms! The area offered good shopping, eating and site seeing. The conference facilities was kept a bit on the cool side. I would stay there again.
