Hilton properties are always a safe bet. Room was nice, well appointed. Staff generally friendly and knowledgeable. I didn't get my cookie at check-in though...that was a let down! Still a top notch place that is not over the top snobby where a family with young kids would feel out of place.

The people at this hotel were very nice and helpful. Our only issue was that we were given a unit with two levels - so had to go up and down more than we'd like (a bum leg). Also the bathroom is crazy tiny - and not fancy. The vanity is in the sleeping part of the bedroom - so if one person wants to sleep is, they're disrupted by the other person's preparations. The bath/toilet room was barely large enough to turn around in - and we are not large people.

The hotel in general was very nice. The sitting area was awesome which is one of the main reasons why I chose this hotel. The bedding was very comfortable. Also, the location is great-in the middle of everything and can walk to most venues. The staff, however, was truly the best thing at the hotel. They were so accommodating and friendly-made our whole group feel very special. Would definitely stay here again!!!

the hotel lobby and public areas were very nice, but our room on the fourth floor was really small. as soon as you opened the door to the room, the sink and vanity were right there on the left and on right was a very small area with toilet and bath/shower. i prefer my sink area to be part of the rest of the bathroom and behind closed doors.

Don't stay here. Anywhere is better. I've been traveling to Charleston, SC for the Piccolo Spoleto festival for 6 yrs now, and have stayed at many hotels. ALL of them are better than the Doubletree downtown. No pool, no breakfast, no fridge in the room, literally the smallest and tightest rooms I have ever been asked to endure. It was the chrapes experience for more money than I have ever paid in Charleston.

Front desk over charged card to the tune of $450 admitted mistake and offered no recourse to the subsequent overdraft fees. Valet dragged comforter across the rainy sidewalk. Also no free parking which was ok but would have been nice to know before arrival.

I stayed here with my family last week for an oil and gas conference. This hotel was the HQ for the conference. Lets start with the good bits. The hotel is in an EXCELLENT location. Right next to the old Slave Market and near all the great restaurants on East Bay Street. Charleston is a very walkable city so got good exercise! The service was uneven. Not necessarily a business traveler's property. I stay at this property relatively frequently and am most often booked in the sleeping rooms in the back of the property. Newer, a little more spacious and quiet. I was booked in the front of the property this stay and arrived to find cleaning supplies in the closet where I hang my suits, pubic hair in the tub and the room had NOT been vacuumed. I have to say, I usually prefer upscale boutique hotels, but my business led me here...My room was gigantic, 2 floors , off of the courtyard...2 floors...a hotel room...seriously! It was wonderful. Let me start at the beginning. The room entrance is on the ground floor off of a courtyard. Lovely, quiet and peaceful. the room was well appointed, TV on both floors, full on ac, small fridge ... Bed looked unmade, pillows looked used, not fresh. Flush in lav. broken, water kept running. Dust can be seen accumulated near the A/C vents. Shower and tub really dated. Fitness room is bare basics.....really underwhelming for the Hilton brand. Elevator takes forever to move.....half the time, I was afraid that it'll stop in between floors. The Doubletree is in a great location right off of Market St. On Church Street. This is clearly right in the middle of the historic district. The rooms are typical doubletree and very nice as are the common areas. However, there is no self park (valet parking only) which, while convenient in some ways is also a pain if you need anything from your car or need to go in and out.

This hotel was extremely dusty throughout the room. The halls and room had 1/4" of filth and dust around all carpet areas. The faculty services were extremely loud inside and out side providing sleep with 6 wake up interruptions.

So convenient for walking the historic district, shops and dining. A block from the Market. They do valet but a public deck is right next door and easy to access. A typical moderate hotel feel lacks the B&B charm but is clean, efficient, a comfortable sleep, and priced right. More money to enjoy the many fine restaurants in the area! Would definitely use again in future.

This hotel isn't the newest in town, but it is very nice and you absolutely cannot beat the location in the heart of historic downtown Charleston. Walking distance to just about anything you want to see, eat, or drink. Clean, comfortable, and the perfect setting for a getaway weekend.

The check in was easy. the valet and front desk were very helpful and engaging. The service aspect was up to Hilton brand. The hotel itself, not so much well actually at all. I do realize this is an older hotel; however, the issues that we had were nto related to the room itself but rather the maintenance of the room. both myself and daughter have serious mold allergies and didnt take long for us to relaize we were in a room that was going to be an issue for us to be comfortable in the room... Immaculately maintained older hotel, staff that truly understands hospitality, and a perfect location for tourism. Grand lobby with huge bouquets of fresh flowers. We have tried other well located Charleston hotels but keep returning here because of the comfortable ambience the staff affords. Often more expensive but you will feel you have gotten good value.

Not worth the cost, would not return The rooms were old and outdated. The bathroom was cramped, the tub was dirty, the toilet made an annoying sound when flushed. An overall mediocre experience. Not what we expected.

Love the location. Across the street from the market. All staff were excellent. The breakfast was wonderful as was the in Room breakfast. I had a large double bed (2) suite overlooking the downtown market. Everyone treated us as though we were the only guests they had.I enjoyed everything about their can do staff.

This hotel has a great location close to the Market and many restaurants. My room was large and quite comfortable. But this is an expensive hotel and service was average only and housekeeping was horrible. My room was not cleaned for two days and supplies not replaced until I complained. I would not stay again. Look elsewhere for more charm and better service.

We had a bi-level suite. It was a weird setup. Bed was comfortable. Bathroom smallest ever. Overweight people could not fit. Maid service was not good. Never took dirty glasses out and never vacuumed. Did change towels and made beds. Front desk very helpful and nice. Wifi not very good. Breakfast was fine but servers very slow.

Here's the 1,2,3s... 1. Location is the only reason I can think to stay here, but you can stay at the Hampton or Embassy just a few block away instead, if you want a Hilton property. 2. Room are outdated. I had largest corner room 273. The bathroom was TINY and FILTHY. The entire room is just dingy and needed a good cleaning from top to bottom. After the cleaning, it all needs to be ripped out and RENOVATED! 3. Not enough staff at breakfast...for 3 days I was there. I would NOT repea... Read more

Overall, quite nice. Two issues. WiFi from hotel is VERY slow at best. Walls so thick att couldn't make it through. Had to go out front to get much of anything. Secondly, breakfast while pretty basic was a problem Either too many people or too few staff. Ran out of things several days. It was over Thanksgiving so that probably had something to do with the issues. All this being said, the people were very helpful, the location was great, just off Market St. and the rooms were more than c... Read more

Exactly the location you want to experience the best of Charleston. Restaurants, shopping, restaurants, small shops, a street of special places to browse, museums, carriages, a six block long covered outdoor market, all within walking distance. Did I mention restaurants? The hotel itself is exquisite, with the luxury and graceful ambience of places costing much more. Room was quiet, sparkling clean, pleasantly appointed, quality bedding, and new electronics. WiFi excellent. Morning lobby coffee ... Read more

After reading reviews on Trip Advisor decided this would be the place we needed to stay. Were celebrating birthday's and I wanted a central location. Doubletree aced it. Room 3as spacious and clean. Bellmen and valet were efficient. From now on only place I will stay in Charleston. Am a Hilton Honors member also.

1. The location is hard to beat. It borders on the Market Place. King Street is 2 blocks one way and the harbor is 4-5 blocks in the opposite direction. The hotel is surrounded by nice restaurants. 2. Price is average for rooms in the area. However the hotel has a modern interior and spacing. Many hotels have quite small rooms and do not seem as if bathrooms were originally part of the rooms.
