My husband and I went here for a weekend getaway and were very much dissapointed in this hotel. We got there 45 minutes earlier than check in and went in to see if they would let us check in early like most hotels do, they told us no and that it would be ready exactly at 3pm (when the check in time is). I understand that we were early, so we did not mind at all coming back at the check in time. Well, we get back to the hotel at 3pm for check in and had to wait 35 minutes in the car until they wo... While convenient to City Marina from which we took a cruise, it is a mess. Sure, not a horrid price but with renovation undergoing in the lobby and needed in the rooms, one can do better. Plus, breakfast is no bargin, barely passable. Added to that, the bathroom was quite small with limited counter space. As said, avoid if you can...

The staff that greeted us were very friendly, pleasant and answered all our questions. We stayed in a suite. It was on the seventh floor and was quite comfortable and very large. It had one and a half bathrooms. Right outside the facility was a Carta free bus that took us to the visitors center. For the 2 1/2 days that we were here, it made it very convenient because we did not have to use our car. The staff kept the breakfast supplies full. We rated it a 3 because it's under renovation and ... Read more

We found hotel rooms in Charleston to be VERY expensive, and booked this hotel knowing it was on the edge of downtown. What we didn't know is that taxi rides anywhere within the city are a flat $8.00. They also had a free trolley/bus right outside our door, that went about every 40 minutes. It ended up being perfect for us. Our room was nice, big and clean, which is all we wanted. The complimentary breakfast was adequate, and appreciated. The staff was always helpful.

We spent 3 days here and enjoyed the staff and accommodations. A bit remote to the historic area, but we knew that going in. For the price, we were good with the extra few blocks of walking. Great location for the College of Charleston and Hospital complex. Looks like they are working on improvements. Parking a challenge. Overall, we would likely choose this hotel again for the overall value.

This hotel is what we expected for a $200 room in the expensive historic Charleston area. But this hotel is actually 2 miles from the historic downtown touristy areas. Did not see any renovating like others have. Our mattress was clean but worn into the shape of a cereal bowl.

First of all, you must know that this hotel is NOT downtown. It's close, but about 1.5 miles away. Yes, you can walk it, but it's a bit of a jaunt. No, 1.5 miles isn't far to walk, but when I think of a "downtown" hotel, I expect it to actually be downtown and in the thick of everything downtown has to offer. So, that's very misleading. Secondly, they advertise that it's renovated. Ummmm....maybe new beds and carpet? But the walls, ceiling, windows, etc. are clearly VERY old. It's medioc... Read more

This hotel was in dire need of work. Very old and in poor condition; bathroom floor had cheap tile that looked like wallpaper had been put over tiles; carpet and furniture were worn and beat up; even the pool needed updating as it had chips in it. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Wifi was out for around 24 hours; and no restaurants were in walking distance. Area looked to be in transition; but not sure I would walk around after dark. Wouldn't stay here again.

This hotel is not in the historic downtown, but it is easy access to downtown from out of town. The workers were very helpful showing us how to pick up the free trolley outside their doors to get to The College of Charleston for my daughter's orientation. We didn't have a problem with parking which I know has been mentioned in other reviews. The rooms were comfortable and quiet. The breakfast was hot and had a nice variety of choices. We will stay here again when visiting our daughter in co... Read more

The Staff at the front desk was so very friendly and helpful. My daughter and I were there due to my husband having surgery at MUSC. Our room was clean and very comfortable. The breakfast was wonderful. Hot and kept full. It was a nice relaxing area. I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting this area

Our room was clean and the staff was very nice. They need to update the hotel as it is old. Our floor had an ice machine that always had standing water in room. The police were there for some reason. Didn't feel really safe there. Not in the best part of town.

I stayed here because it was one of the more reasonable hotels. I had such a good time in Downtown Charleston that I was a very late checking in. This proved to be a decision I would regret. There was absolutely NO PARKING on the property itself at that hour. The property is landlocked so there are not many opportunities for Comfort Suites to rectify the situation long-term. If you get there late, you will have to park next door at the credit union. I was fortunate to stay on a weekend but I cou... Read more

To management/owners... TAKE THE TIME and upgrade your facilities. It is a very old looking establishment. Hallways dirty. Just the whole feel is OLD!! Everyone else is doing it or has done it. They will get the future business. That said.... I called asked for a "preference" of a 2 bed room. The girl at the front counter said she would do it. NOPE. I got there and no record of it. Great. This is our go to hotel for reasonable rates in Charleston. The clientele is normally older and a good bit of the business is for the VA Hospital across the street. Sometimes the weekends have the party crowd but I've found the staff to be responsive to complaints about noise. The rooms are clean and fairly well maintained. The tins just drain very slowly. The AC is cold and fairly quiet. We fine the staff very helpful and nice. Downtown and the beaches are easy to get to from this location.

NOT downtown, shuttle takes 45 minutes to get downtown, dumpy (elevators looked like a factory elevator). The one front desk worker, Chenequa (sp?) was unfriendly and slow when trying to check in and when trying to figure out an issue with the room, the WIFI was constantly going out and coming back on. That being said, the room was OK and the breakfast was tasty and ample. Would suggest spending a bit more and moving closer to town.

We stayed in a newly remodeled room and was very nice . Otherwise, it was old hotel with very bad parking. The brightest part of the trip was the staff, specifically, Lakeya, at the front desk. Amazing employee. We had a very poor experience with a restaurant they recommended. When we told her about it she immediately called the manager at the restaurant (not connected with the hotel)! She said she wouldn't tolerate that treatment! As a result the restaurant came and delivered all kinds of... Read more

This hotel mentions "walking distance" from MUSC but is several blocks away. It was certainly one of the worst experiences I can remember. Rates are exorbitant for the caliber of accommodations and housekeeping staff were the worst. They repeatedly (daily) failed to replenish in room coffee and linen supplies (despite complaints to the front desk) in addition to failing to make the beds on our last day leading to early checkout for better lodging. Front desk staff were largely adamant even to t... Read more

This hotel is located near a highway on the city outskirts but is still walk distance from the downtown. The value is ok but the hotel doesn't have much to offer. The pool didn't have water in it and the breakfast wasn't good, (better to go to the city to eat). The service was ok as well. Overall, decent value but you get what you pay for, you won't be surprised. (Ugly location).

We stayed here to drop the child off at college. The hotel was in great proximity to her college, Walmart & Best Buy. The room was comfortable and clean, breakfast was your basic, eggs, sausage, fruit, yogurt, waffle. We didn't hear any hallway noise, or outside noise as the hotel is near a highway. I have to be honest and say this Comfort suites really needs to kick it up . I understand it being older on the outside however , we sure felt cramped in the room, and the high window did not help. Breakfast was good. When I come back to Charleston again , I am going to check out the Embassy suites in town , so that we can enjoy walking around a lovely town.

The hotel was clean and comfortable. Liked that they had snacks and drinks for sale in the lobby. Located near the MUSC campus, directly across from the Veteran's clinic and a couple of blocks from the Ashley River Tower clinic, which is why we were there. The only downside is the parking is limited. I would recommend to anyone visiting the medical campus.

The location is good and reasonably close to The Citadel where we went for a reunion and football game. That's the good. This is a tired, older property with small rooms. It could be cleaner. They advertise they are remodeling, which is sorely needed. Breakfast is provided but I would recommend walking to Burger King next door and just pay for it. Including taxes a sum of about $250 per night is outrageous for this level of hotel. Won't be back.

We were sent here from The VA hospital to stay for 2 days because of surgery. This place is not even a 1 star its horrible. The lobby, curtains and furniture was filthy and the floor wasn't much better. When we tried to complain to corporate we reached a call center in the Philippines. The representative conveniently claimed she couldn't hear me.

Very shabby hotel, had notices saying there was refurbishment going on but could see no sign of it at all. Advertised as downtown but absolutely not walkable to sights of charleston. Carpets pretty dingy and the whole place was grubby and third rate tho have to saythe beds were very comfortable. Reception on checking in could hardly be bothered with us and on checking outthere was no one there at all. Breakfast was extremely poor.. would never stay again
