We needed a place that was pet friendly and Days Inn was much cheaper than other pet friendly hotels. What we didn't realize is that the pet friendly rooms are also the smoking rooms, and we don't smoke. This made it a horrible experience. We hosed a whole bottle of febreeze in there and to no avail. The rooms also open to directly to the outside, and I know that would be a concern for some. The room was fairly old as well and needed some improvements. I can't speak for non-smoking rooms. Disappointed that I had to pay for daily parking to the hotel i was staying in. I could see it it didn't have its own parking that was apart of the hotel premises and extra expense that should have been presented in the booking of the room

I booked my stay at the Days in of Historic District Charleston using points rather than money, and I suspect it affected the rooms I was given. I arrived around midnight, and upon checking in was given my room keys. When I attempted to use them to get in, after lugging bags and a sleeping toddler up the steps, nothing happened. The lock was completely broken and I had to go back and request help. I was given a new room, but upon using my key in the door, it became obvious that this door als... Read more

Fortunately we booked early enough to miss the new charges for parking. I believe that the property has enough spaces for 2 per guest room. Unfortunately when we returned from a performance on the first nite there, we had to park in the parking garage. When a property is more like a motel than a hotel, I believe parking should be included for the price per room. The rates were also quite steep for a Days Inn albeit it was Memorial Day Weekend. I shall definitely seek alternatives in Charlest... Read more

This used to be an acceptable, affordable, generic Day's Inn, in a wonderful location, and with free parking. It's still in a wonderful location, but rates are higher than ever now (during the Spoleto festival), parking is no longer free ($!4 per day now), and the buildings are old and decrepit. I had heard that remodeling was being done. Our room had a good air conditioner which was an upgraded model from what was previously there, and there were new 3' high beds! As long as you're not expecting the "Hilton", you should be fine. The room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. The carpet needed cleaning was our only complaint. This hotel was less than half of anyplace else for this location. It is in the heart of the historic district. Everything was walkable and if you wanted to venture a little further the "free" trolley was a block away. The staff was awesome and the room was clean. The downside was the bathroom-the shower was very slippery and the towels were very coarse. We will continue to stay with Days Inn; we stayed at one on our way to Charleston in Asheville and this was a better hotel than theirs. Again, staff at both sites were very efficient and attentive.

This Days Inn is in the heart of Charleston, walking distance from tons of cafe's and great shopping. You would think it would be held up to the highest of standards, being in one of the biggest tourist destinations of the southeast. Understanding this is not a hilton or bellmond, it is fairly outdated. But come on, who wants to walk into their room and see a big smear of brown and red blood or poop on the wall right next to the bed?? Another smear on the bathroom door... black hair on the floor... Not the Ritz, but this hotel is clean and comfortable and conveniently located right in the middle of historic Charleston. Literally a few steps from the free trolley, just across from the market, and just a block off the shopping/dining extravaganza on King street. It really is a perfect location. The room was clean and comfortable and all worked well. Just do it!

The carpet in our room was filthy. Our feet were almost black with dirt after walking on it. I let the front desk staff know and they were cordial and apologetic but I would most likely not stay there again. We had a room with two full beds and the one bed was lopsided. The pool was also dirty and had too much chlorine. It's unfortunate, as the location is great but I think the quality definitely suffers for the convenience of being in the historic district.

Two, they charge for parking now ($14 per day). Three, the air conditioner didn't work as well as it should. Cool but not cool enough. Other than that it is still a great place to stay!

The air conditioning units outside of the rooms were filthy, My children swam in the pool and it was so cloudy they couldn't even see their feet in the shallow end. I prayed they would not be sick. Ideally situated in the middle of downtown Charleston. Please note there is a parking charge of, I think, $14 per day though this doesn't expire until mid afternoon on the check out day so time can still be spent in the City before moving on. Even in a city centre we felt $161.92 for a one night stay was not good value especially as there was no breakfast included.

We stayed 2 nights at the Days Inn after 2 nights at a nearby B&B. The value was good for the location. The Charleston Historic District is pricey as hotels go and the Days Inn was a good value. We picked this hotel because of the location and price. If you are planning on walking and seeing the sights it is a great spot. They didn't disclose the parking fee when making reservations. If you search through their site it is listed under "hotel fees", there it says $14 per trip. At first they charged us $14 per day but after reading what is on the site, they only charged us one $14 fee. Rooms are older but if you are only planning on sleeping there, at least for us it was no big deal.

When we complained to the front desk in the morning the woman did not even acknowledge our issue. When asked for an hour late check out she told us "no". If you can possibly afford to pay a little more, find somewhere else to stay. We were so glad we read on another review to be sure to bring Febreeze to the Days Inn. It was extremely necessary, as the rooms smell musty and stale. You should also bring Raid. Now for my review: The first night, we were assigned the handicapped room. No, we didn't request that type of room, and we have no disabilities. I can't imagine someone with disabilities managing in this room because it was so small. Yes, it ... Read more

This is a great location for visiting Charleston & the hotel is very nice. I like that there is a microwave & fridge in the room. The room smells bad, three days and nobody came to clean it, the phone does not work appropriately, and there is rudeness in the desk service attendance. Today I have tried to cancel the days ahead, and the person on the desk service, says I cannot leave without paying! That is unbelievable. I should be refunded instead. The staff really makes this location pleasurable, always courteous, helpful and efficient, location is fantastic, however extra $$ for parking should be made more abundantly clear prior to paying for booking. Did find a palmetto bug in room as soon as I checked in, but otherwise no issues, would definitely recommend.

The beds were comfortable but the room could use a coat of paint. The outside stairs and walkways need a cleaning. If breakfast was offered we were not aware of it. There was construction next door but only at night around 6pm til around 2am, not conducive to a peaceful night. I didn't like being charged for parking and the use of the safe (refunded if not used upon request).

This is a good location between the Fort Sumter ferry and the battery. There is no breakfast. Parking is available, but as expected is self park pay (that is better than wreck your car valet). The room was average size with micro fridge. I think that the closest hotels were somewhat more expensive. Overall a good experience.

The room was clean and comfortable. There were plenty of toiletries on hand. On the bad side, we had to pay for parking in the hotel lot.

Given the small size of the room everything was very close, and closing in nightly. The room met our needs, shelter, and pleased with the short walk to areas of interst. One the fight we cheched-in, we told the front desk that the hotel phone didn't work, tiles were missing at the base of the shower, and the tub had a large chip. All of this after being told at check-in that unreported damage would be billed to us on our departure. The next day the phone was taken but our departure, four day... Read more

Nice older motel seems to be well taken care of. Parking is a little tight but it is on site. Room was very clean very nice staff. Being on market Street it is in walking distance to most every thing in downtown Charleston. Rates are very reasonable if not cheep

I have nevern stayed in Charleston before but I will never ever stay at days inn. I waited an hr after check in to be able to check in. I was told I could get a room in the back after waiting. I was not informed that the reason no-one was staying back there because at 6am I was woken up to loud bangs and drills. They were building a bank and it was LOUD. I got no sleep. I paid 250 dollars for one night and I never wrote reviews but felt this needed to be said. I am going to Chicago in a week and... Read more

If you're passing through Charleston and plan to be busy then I recommend this hotel. We chose to stay for one night but were only in the room to freshen up and sleep, we preferred to be out in the city. The hotel is located almost right in front of the Market, and centrally placed from pretty much every downtown sight and attraction. The hotel is dingy looking inside but the room was nice actually. The choice location is the key for me.

The Day's Inn is an older establishment that is well maintained and located in the heart of historic Charleston. Located in the same building is "Toast", an excellent place for breakfast before walking to the Market only a minute or so away. You can leave your car at the inn and walk to anywhere in the historic district. My wife and I have visited Charleston many times before and found this a low stress way to enjoy the old town.

Excellent location. An older property but good enough for our 4 day stay. Excellent restaurant with good food and staff. Some rooms could use updates but reasonable.

The main thing I found unsatisfactory is that I was charged $14 for parking in the hotel lot. I guess this is because parking is premium in Charleston but I really think that is an unnecessary expense and should be included in the price of the room if it is a requirement to pay. Since I was told that by parking on the street I would probably be ticketed or towed unless I kept my meter up I really had not choice to pay the hotel extra for parking but I really find it unacceptable.

Excellent price for location on Meeting Street. So close within walking distance to sights, sounds, and tastes of Chatleston. The popular low country restaurant, Toast, is adjacent to the hotel. A great place to 5 star dine is up the street at the Belmond, super close. The Market is a block away, and the horse carriage tours are another half block away. So let's get to the hotel's evaluation....hey It's a Days Inn. The bed was comfortable, but the rest of the room, especially the bathroom n... Read more

This is a very old two story "Motel Type" property in need of complete renovation. It's central location, low price (compared to all other downtown properties) and included parking is the only reason I would suggest someone consider this property.

Decent hotel for the money. Great location. There are no frills. The staff was not very friendly. Still for the location and the cost of surrounding hotels, would definitely stay again.
