From the outside, the hotel is not particularly interesting, but once you get in, it's modern, well-designed, and very nice. I was there for a conference and it was convenient to have the conference held in the same hotel. The location is also good for taking walks to various sight-seeing opportunities. I was in a room on the third floor that had extra high ceilings compared to the other rooms, and so felt much bigger. I recommend asking for one of the high ceiling rooms if possible. Everything ... This was our first stay at theNewport Marriott and we loved it. The hotel was redone a year or so ago and it is beautiful. It is the perfect location and has great views from water view rooms and bar/restaurant. Breakfast was wonderful, omelets and waffles made to order from buffet. There is a public parking garage next door if you don't want to use valet.

This facility is a 10 star hotel!!! All re-done in a nautical theme throuout! Clean, spacious rooms...balcony overlooking the main indoor area.,beautiful pool, separate spa area.. Right across street from harbor, so u can take a boat ride or just sit on a bench and read (just what I did)! Loads of stores close by to shop!! My husband had a business show here, so I just hung out and loved every minute!! See for yourself!!!!!!

From the moment I arrived the staff were friendly, helpful and always nearby when I needed a hand. My room did not have the best view but it was very very comfortable. I have a sensitive back and the beds were high quality (cushion firm) with very sturdy fluffy pillows. I could have stayed in the lovely bed all day! The bathroom was very nice with a large shower and high quality linens. The hotel has a very nice restaurant - I loved the Caesar salad. The hostess and waitress were great to offer... Read more

We stayed at the Newport Marriott for a night during Memorial Day weekend. Our room on the 6th floor was great as we had a view of the water. The only drawback was that there was a patio for the rooms on the 5th floor and a group of people were out there making noise in the middle of the night. We understand that these things happen especially on a busy holiday weekend. The hotel is within walking distance to everything. We enjoyed walking to all of the shops, had lunch at Clark Cooke House,... Read more

Room was nice. Usually have complimentary continental breakfast of some sort at comparable hotels. Either this hotel does not offer such, or if it does, it was not readily apparent. Mandatory charge for valet bristles given the high room rate. Valet attendants were very nice, however.

As there are not many choices if you want a standard hotel (as opposed to an inn), the Marriott charges top prices for their property. As such, they should make an effort to go the distance and give their guests something special or unexpected. This was not the case. For $600 per night, there was one bar of soap in the entire bathroom, and no shower cap. After getting undressed for a shower, to have to call the front desk for a shower cap and soap, and then redress to wait and unlock the doo... Read more

Back again this season for a sailing excursion! I know Mother Nature controls the wind...but a sailor knows how to nurture the winds to thrill the riders on a great sailboat! The captain on the Adirondack gave his passengers a thrill while viewing kite boarders in Narragansett Bay and sipping Dark and Stormy's. Could not have been a better start to the summer season. The crew, Luke and Chris, complimented Captain Mark's skill for a fantastic time!! Make it your thrill in Newport too!

Pool is inside ( bummer) and they offer some lounge chairs on an outside deck. The food was not good at all, but there are so many restaurants within walking distance it doesn't matter. The hotel looked fresh, clean and new which is a huge plus. However, it was disappointing that the prices were elevated to the extent they were for a race weekend. This hotel is in a good location & has had decor updated. But in terms of practicality is poor. Only 2 of 3 lifts working. Takes ages to get up or down. Lift is in one corner only , so had to walk miles around 3 sides to get to room. As I am senior , single woman on my own this is not good for distance had to walk or personal security. Person allocating rooms think! Bathroom does not have place to hang towels. Could hear ny neighbours enjoying themselves in bed. My room was not cleaned or mad... Read more

We stayed at the Marriott a few weeks ago for my husband's business trip. It was a nice stay. The room was large enough for 3. Bathroom was clean and towels plentiful. Shower was awesome! As were the beds! We didn't need the wi-fi so I can't speak to that. TV has Netflix! That was a nice touch! We didn't really eat the "hotel" food-so I don't know if that was good or not. The valet parking was pricey but the valets were very nice! There is a public garage kind of next door--I don't know if you'd... Read more

The ,hotel is beautiful, staff were wonderful and it is a great location near shops, starbucks and everything you need. It is PRICEY and I wasn't expecting to stay there after a hotel disaster with Carriage House Inn, in Middletown and the Atlantic Beach House...so we were a little disappointed when we opened the door to our room and could see people waiting for the elevator through our only window! It was comical at this point. Bed was comfy and the d├ęcor was very nice. Shower had great pressu... Read more

We had a great time at this hotel. As for other reviewers re: the cost--we paid with points, but our non-ocean facing room cost $400/night. When in Newport during August, you'll pay for a good hotel...or even any hotel. Decor was modern beach (if that's a term); clean lines, refreshing, soothing. Beds were quite comfortable. Room was a decent size, fitting two queen beds with ease. Location was great, right in the heart of downtown Newport. We often walked rather than drove when we went out... Read more

We booked two rooms here in july , one for us and one for my son and niece and nephew . Beautiful hotel! Friendly helpful staff all around! We had room 666 i know scary lol but had a harbor view and its was beautiful especially at night! The teens had a room on 3 floor not a great view but nice and clean as well as ours. The bar had fantastic drinks and food! We had no issues getting our car a few times to drive to the beach and see ocean drive. U can walk from here all over! Its a great hotel

The only positive I have is that the hotel is conveniently located. We were extremely disappointed by the hotel. First, whoever designed it did not do basic math to figure out how many elevators the hotel needed. The wait was very long regardless of the time of day. Our room was not ready when we arrived (with another family member) but the second room was. We were told at the front desk that the rooms were adjoining but when our room was finally ready it was on a different floor. The fron... Read more

The hotel is centrally located at the wharf and harbor. Easy walks up Americas Cup or Thames to shops, restaurants and attractions. The hotel is very modern and the rooms are very nice. Next door is travelers center where you can book and catch tours of town.

I have over 1000 nights at Marriott hotels and resorts over the last 20 years. This hotel was recently renovated and it's very nice. One of the nicest Marriotts I have stayed in and with a great staff. Their concierge Meredith is super helpful. The renovation carries a nautical theme throughout. Rooms are very comfortable with great lighting options in the room. The location is great for waling around town and catching ferries etc.

The renovated Newport Marriott is conveniently located, across the street from the Block Island and Providence ferries. Large, bright rooms and hallways are a plus. Gold elite membership gave us access to the concierge area (Club M) for a breakfast buffet and evening snacks. The staff all throughout the hotel is cheerful and attentive.

This hotel has undergone a renovation and is a perfectly nice place to stay. Rooms are clean but don't expect the gorgeous waterfront scene on their website. This is located in downtown Newport and our room overlooked a parking lot. The front desk staffer who checked us in barely said a word and gave us no information about anything - including how members can access free internet (and we found no instructions in the room). For the premium summer price of about $500 a night with taxes and pa... Read more

Stayed here in an ocean view room for one night with 2 children. It feels brand new - very clean and bright. Only 2 elevators were working so it took a while to get in/get out, but otherwise the place was perfect for our family. Very comfortable beds! Hotel is close to the harbor restaurants and shops. Small indoor pool.
